THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
Once upon a time there were three little pigs. Early one morning the little pigs decided to leave home and go out into the big, wide world to seek their fortune. Their mother gave them a bundle of food and some money.
‘Now make me one promise,’ said their mother. ‘You must each build a little house where you can be safe and warm. There may be a hungry wolf out there, looking for little pigs – so do be careful!’
She gave them a big hug and an even bigger kiss – and off they went, trot, trot, trot down the road.
When they reached the crossroads they went in different directions.
The first little pig went up the hill to the farm. The second little pig went down the hill to the forest. And the third little pig walked all the way to the sea.
When the first little pig got to the farm he met a farmer beside the front gate piling up straw.
‘That would be a quick way to make a house,’ thought the little pig. So he asked if he could buy some straw.
‘Of course,’ said the farmer. ‘Here is straw for your walls and straw for your roof.’ Soon the little pig had built a house made of straw.
