 I have had a passion for writing since I was a young child in school, and over the years that love has only grown. I don't like to label myself to only one genre, My only hope is that I can bring the joy to those that read my stories as all of my favorite authors have brought to me over the years. My favorite part of reading is the story line and being able to completely get lost in the realm of a different world with the characters, it allows me to decompress and if for only a few minutes in a day, the stress of the world we live in right now, disappears. I only hope that I can bring that to you too. Truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for deciding to take this journey with my book.

Chapter 1: Who am I

W e have to find him , we have to before she wakes up, her wounds have completely healed now, it’s only a matter of time before she comes to. I wonder who they are talking about, and where am I?

We should have stayed and looked for him. I don't think he knows we found her. He could be out there lost, thinking she is gone. Wow these voices are really scared for this person.

We will find him, but for now we have to get her better, that is what he would want. I felt hands on my body, and I was being rolled. Besides if he wasn't okay that would be gone. Remind me to ask these people what the hell they are talking about when I can open my eyes, and why in the world they are rolling me around.

Laying there, my eyes were closed, it smelt funny and was kind of cold. I could hear lots of beeping and people rushing around like crazy. Maybe a hospital. I wondered why I was there. I slowly opened my eyes; the light was so bright I could barely get them open. I scrunched them up till they had time to adjust before opening them. I pulled the oxygen tube out of my nose; it was making it itch. I found the bed control on the side and managed to raise it to a sitting position. My hand had tubes and IVs run into it, with wires running from my chest and head.

I could feel panic starting to set in, and I had to get out of there. I had no idea where I was. I started pulling the wires off my chest and head and slung them to the floor. Next thing was the IVs, I pulled everything out. I looked around and found some clothes folded neatly on a chair in the corner. I tried to stand up and my legs gave out causing me to hit the ground. Ouch, I grumbled as I rubbed my butt. I scooted over to the chair and pulled myself up into it. I slid the underwear and jeans on and put the socks and tennis shoes on next. I pulled the hospital gown off and slid the t-shirt on, well I don't think this is mine, but its comfy it will work, I thought, the hoodie looked warm and comforting as well, so I slid It over the t-shirt. I pulled it around my head and snuggled into it. There was something so inviting and comforting about the smell of this hoodie, I thought to myself.

Okay let me check on her real quick and we will run get a bite to eat. That same voice from before came from outside of the door. I tried to get up and my legs were wobbly, this is no use, I don't know why my legs are so weak, but I am going to have to sit here, I huffed to myself.

A beautiful, petite blonde walked in, the tips of her hair were hot pink, she looked exhausted, her eyes were worried, bags under them, her body slumped slightly, she took one look at me as she walked in and immediately ran embracing me in a hug. Um do I know you? She jumped back in surprise, I am sorry I just don't know where I am, and you surprised me.

What is the last thing that you remember? The blonde asked.

Well....umm....... I closed my eyes, the sudden realization, I had no idea immediately set in, I don't know. I don't know who I am, how I got here, or where I am going. My voice shrieked as I tried to calm down.

Okay, She pulled a chair in front of me and then grabbed my hands, I wanted to pull away, but her touch didn't scare me, it was kind of soothing. My name is Tara, and your name is Skyler, but we all call you Sky. You were attacked about 3 months ago and fell into the water causing you to nearly drown. We found you and brought you to the hospital and you have been in a coma since then. She patted my hand, I need you to sit here just a minute, I will be right back, let me let them know you are up.

No, I couldn't sit there I needed to leave right then! I jumped up this time willing my legs to move as I wished. Since I was dressed, I blended right in with everyone moving among the hallway and quickly made my way to the exit sign. Once out the exit door, I quickly realized I was in the emergency entrance of the hospital, so I blended with everyone moving in and out till I made it to the sidewalk and began walking quickly. I don't know how long I walked not realizing my surroundings or where was I until my adrenaline stopped pumping and my legs began to feel wobbly again. I stopped to look around and found a bench sitting beneath a tree. I sat down letting my body completely relax.

Then it dawned on me, maybe I should try and figure out where I was. I looked around and the first thing I noticed was there were very few trees. The buildings that stood around me were taller than trees as they reached for the sky. The air was thick with pollution and made it stuffy to breath. I could finally hear all the traffic. Cars bumper to bumper, horns blowing, brakes squealing, lots of people talking, my head began to thump at taking it all in at once. Wherever I was I was in a big city. Looking a little closer to where I was sitting, I noticed I must be near a walking path, there were lots of people walking and jogging. Maybe this was a park, there was a swing set and jungle gym not too far from me and I could hear the laughter of children floating from the area.

Are you ok? The voice startled me and sent chills down my spine. I looked up to see the handsome man in a jogging suit standing in front of me, his hair was almost black, slicked back, and shining like a new penny. His facial features were awfully hard and looked as if they had been chiseled out of stone. The smile he sent me even felt cold. His eyes were almost as black as his hair and held no emotion. He was much taller than me and looked to be physically fit. The whole situation didn't feel right, but heck I didn't even know who I was at the moment, so who was I to question it. Miss are you ok? His cold voice spoke again. He reached out to touch my shoulder and I immediately stiffened, there was something numbing about his touch.

Oh sorry, yes I am ok. I am just really unsure where I am. I looked away quickly.

Please don't think me rude Miss, but you look extremely familiar, have we met before? My heart skipped a beat at him asking, Sorry there is just something very déjà vu about this.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you, seems I have some sort of amnesia and can't even tell you where I am. I frowned playing with my fingers.

Why don't you let me buy you a cup of coffee? I nodded my head at him, that did sound nice, he grabbed my hand pulling me to my feet. Come on, there is a coffee shop right around the corner.

We arrived at the coffee shop, and he pulled a seat out for me to set at one of the tables outside the little shop. He walked inside and returned with a cup of coffee and a cream stuffed chocolate glazed donut. You didn't have to do that but thank you. I grabbed the donut and shoved it in my mouth. I noticed him smiling at me with an expression in his eyes I couldn't quite make out, disgust maybe, Sorry I am a pig. He shot me another one of those emotionless smiles.

After I cleaned my mouth, I wanted to continue a conversation, So what brings you here, wherever here is.

Well, I am here for two reasons, I have traveled the last few months trying to hunt someone down because I believed they took something from me. He leaned to the table and cleared his throat, And the family business brought me here for some important meetings and social functions. I tried to get out of it until I had a gut feeling what I have been looking for was here. He smirked, And by the way you are in New York City.

Well, that's interesting. I wasn't sure what else to say, Thank you for the donut and coffee, but I should let you be on your way, I don't want to take any more of your time. I stood to pull my chair out and walk away.

He reached to grab my wrist, Please don't go. I nodded my head and sat back down. So can you tell me your name?

I stopped for a minute I really didn't know my name, A girl at the hospital called me Sky.

The look in his eye was now gone and replaced with something else, again I had no idea, but something was off, I am Draven nice to meet you. Love the name and something made my heart flutter at the sound of it, but the name doesn't suit him. Sky do you have a place to stay. I just shook my head no, I didn't even have any money, I could feel the panic starting to set in, he placed his hands around mine and stared into my eyes, I couldn't help but feel uneasy, yes something is off here, I thought to myself. Well, I have an apartment I own here in the city, you are more than welcome to stay, no one will bother you.

That is sweet, but I couldn't possibly. Every ounce of my being was screaming no, but at the same time my brain was telling me what else are you going to do.

You aren't imposing at all. Please, I will feel better knowing you have somewhere to sleep and food to eat, at least until you get on your feet. My senses were beginning to falter, and I could feel myself becoming exhausted quickly.

Only if you let me repay you with the kindness. I do not want to be a burden on anyone and will work to pay rent or whatever. I smiled at myself. That sounded like a great idea. I don't know who I am or where I come from, but I did not want to be a burden to anyone. I knew that for sure.

That sounds great. The smile he offered this time seemed a little more heart felt. Do you have a job?

I just sat there, I had no idea if I did or not. I am not even sure what I was qualified for, Um....I don't think so.

Perfect, I need a secretary while I am in town. How about you work for me? I will pay you. His job offer sounded perfect. That way I could save some money and get back on my feet.

That sounds great, I dropped my head before I said, Thank you.

He pulled his phone out and started texting while I finished my coffee. I was done and taking my cup to throw it away when he stood to follow me and do the same. He grabbed my hand and pulled me along behind him like I was a child. I couldn't help but be a little overwhelmed with something bad, something unbelievably bad was going to happen.

Chapter 2: A Dream

Ihad been working with Draven now for about three months, we had become close, kind of like business acquaintances not lovers or even friends. Every day I felt as if my life was missing something, probably because I still had no idea who I was. I never left my apartment unless I was with Draven, and he was always sure to keep me away from too many people. All my time was either spent in his office or in that apartment. I spent countless sleepless nights that started good with a deep sleep and within minutes I was always awakened with the same nightmare. I could never remember the exact details of the dream only that when I awoke, I was gasping for breath like I had been drowning. I only wish I knew what had happened to me.

Standing in front of the mirror in my bathroom staring at my bare chest as I did so many times since Draven brought me here from the street. I had a horrible scar that was etched just above my bra cup. It looked as if someone had scribbled something on my skin. I could see the remnants of a tattoo that looked like maybe a sun, but even what was left of it was hardly noticeable and a little faded. I traced my fingers across it and winced at the pain I still felt. I had spent countless hours researching different pictures of people's tattoos to see if I could find anything that might resemble it. I also had a very faded mark on the lower part of my back, that looked as if it had been covered, I am thinking maybe I got some bad artwork when I was young and had it covered up. Really though anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Ring, Ring

I quickly grabbed my phone off the counter, waking me from the trance of staring I was currently in, Hello.

Hello beautiful, I knew I should probably feel all warm and fuzzy when he referred to me as that. But instead, I felt numb.

Hi Draven, is everything ok? I am off today remember?

A small evil laugh erupted from the other end of the phone, Nope you are never off. I just sighed he was right; I was always at his beckon call it seemed. I just called to remind you I will pick you up at eight sharp, so be waiting outside for me.

Why? I couldn't help the attitude in my voice.

Sky did you forget already? I could hear the slight bit of annoyance in his voice, before he sighed, Tonight is the charity masquerade ball for the children's hospital, you are going with me remember. I think it is time that I introduce you to the businessmen that I deal with daily, and my family will be there, I want you to meet them.

I told you I don't have anything to wear for that kind of thing. I had remembered but I
