About this ebook

"Eat your heart out, Lachlan!"

This is Selene's daily mantra. Her inspiration.

She spends her time on land, working as a paranormal writer, doing her best to enjoy life and leave the past behind her.

But the past certainly has a way of creeping up on you, especially when you happen to be the siren Princess of the Pacific!

After her betrothed broke off their engagement, Selene thought things couldn't get worse.

Oh, and then her friend got murdered. Life – two, Selene – zero.

Wanting to start over, she moves away from her family and old life.

But when the bastard that killed her best friend steals a powerful trident, she's suddenly thrust back into the very ocean she was trying to avoid.

And did we mention that she has to search for said trident with her ex-fiancé? Yeah, that ex-fiancé.

Prince of the Atlantic, Lachlan, is totally over Selene.

No, really, he is. Never mind the incredible jealousy that bubbled up when she flirted with a waiter in front of him.

No, he is totally over her.Begrudgingly, the two ex-lovers have to come together to save their skins (or rather, scales!). But along the way, certain feelings might rise to the surface, feelings that they both were sure had long been dead.

    Chapter One

    "H

ow does it feel to be married to a hot, strong Alpha? I ask Lacy as we sip champagne at her wedding reception. She is the most beautiful bride in her long lace gown. It feels pretty good! Who knew that getting tackled and bitten in the woods would lead to finding the love of my life? Lacy laughs and sips her champagne. Leave it to you to do things weirdly, Lace." I laugh at her and scan the room.

There are representatives from all sorts of shifter communities here. The wolf-shifters have a special bond with the Siren community due to an ancient pact. A wolf shifter saved a Siren from a human long ago. The boat captain had hauled her up in his nets and planned to sell her off to the highest bidder. The wolf shifter happens to be working the boat and set her free. From then on, the pact was born; wolf-shifters and Sirens of all pods were allies. I’ve seen representatives from all the pods but the Atlantic... did they not send one? I ask Lacy casually as I scan the crowd.

It is customary to send a member of the Royal Family to an Alpha’s wedding. Fortunately for the Pacific Pod, I am good friends with Lacy. Oh, and a Princess. I might not want to be one, but as they say, you can pick your nose, you can choose your friends, but you can't pick your family. It was rare for my father to ask me to perform any Royal duties since I’ve resided on land, but this was an easy one. Yes, there he is... My breath catches in my throat as the crowd parts, and I see him standing there. My traitorous heart skips a beat as I catch a glimpse of his tall frame. He is handsome as all of our species are, but there is something extra about Lachlan I have never been able to put my finger on.

His emerald eyes scan the crowd, his long dark hair neatly held back from his face with a leather thong, and his strong features and muscular body are attracting side glances from the women around him. He looks like a Celtic warrior from the days of old. Lachlan... I finish darkly, narrowing my eyes and trying to stop the hard beating of my heart. I see you two know each other... Lacy says, humor in her voice as she looks from where Lachlan stands to my stiff posture. She suddenly gasps. Please don't tell me he is the one? The broken engagement? She whispers, and I just nod.

Lachlan and I had been betrothed since childhood; meant to unite the Pacific and Atlantic Pods. He had been a pain in my ass our entire lives, continually teasing me and doing anything he could to annoy me.

As we had grown, those feelings blossomed into something nervier. He was my first, and I thought he would be my last. Our Fathers had a falling out shortly before the wedding, and we were told the alliance was off. I stood up to my father, telling him I loved Lachlan and would marry him anyway. Lachlan did not; he chose to stand with his father. Heartbroken, I threw myself into training, offering to fight battle after battle for my clan. Sirens are warriors, and our Princesses don't sit around and simper.
