    During the siege of Jerusalem, I was the head of Intelligence’s Arabic division. With the outbreak of war, we could no longer use Arab agents, and we had to rely mainly on monitoring our enemies’ phone conversations.

    On February 28, 1955, Operation Black Arrow took place, when six IDF paratroopers crossed the border into the Egyptian-occupied Gaza Strip. They were joined by a column of paratroopers from the 890th Paratroop Battalion. The Israeli government made the decision to launch Black Arrow after several incidents on the Gaza border.
