I represented India in the Olympics, and my physical condition was poor before the Rio Olympics. I was recovering from a stress fracture in my left foot, and due to a foot-cast I was completely confined to the bed. But I never lost the fire in my belly.

Modi learned at a young age that those in power or office must trust the youth to deliver and make them a part of the delivery system, and then see the transformation they can bring.

Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. He focused on the youth during his tenure, and helped build a mass movement that increased enrolment and dropout rates. He also established a Children University with the aim to develop the academic system and lifestyle on the principle of panchakosha.

Modi became a national youth icon not just for his work with the youth in Gujarat, but for his success as a statesman who had made Gujarat a manufacturing powerhouse, a global investment hub, and an agricultural miracle state.

The world does not see the years of preparation that go into being able to play a match. Prime Minister Modi chose a method of consultation that was completely novel and revolutionary. More than 300,000 local elected bodies were consulted in what was a unique bottoms-up consultative process to frame a national policy.

Modi, due to the learning he gained during the Morbi mass movement, has strived to bend the curve and integrate youth into the system. He has, wherever possible, put youth in decision-making positions.

The Indian government has expanded the number of institutions that provide training and education for its youth. The expansion in capacity has been compelling, and there are now 23 IITs, 9 IIITs, and 7 AIIMS branches.

Modi, the Prime Minister, has stated that the youth of India are the ones who have brought laurels to the country. He has emphasized the importance of the nutritious diet of youth, which will be the nation-builders of the future.

The Indian government’s mission to help improve the lives of women is a major boost to the march of women empowerment in India. As India transitions to a democratic and inclusive superpower, it is important that women be creators, entrepreneurs, achievers, and leaders.
