About this ebook

There are several books written by eminent writers on this subject but there is not a single book which has covered all technical and scientific information and observation experienced by modern scientist of the Era like 'Hippocrate' (father of the medicines), Dr. William Mckay Davidsion M.D. of Chicago, Dr. Kirillian of Russia, Upanishads of India (a great scientific book of ancient time which is a challenge to medical sciences and modern rescearchist and many more). It was therefore my strong desire to produce such a work on this subject of 'Astrology which would be completed in all respect and there would arise no necessity of referring to any other book on this subject.

Miraculous Astrology - Pt. V.K. Sharma

    Tithi, The Lunar Day

The Sun and the Moon have a powerful effect on human life and mind.

The Sun effects the life force, physical strength and the sense of Self.

The Moon affects the mind, emotions, mood, and the process of growth and nourishment.

Both Sun and Moon represent the two poles of the universal energy, masculine and feminine, the universal father and mother, hot and cool, Shiva and Shakti, Ying and Yang.

    What is a Tithi?

The Tithi is the distance between the position of the Sun and the Moon at a particular time.

The moment the Sun and the Moon are conjunct, on the same degree, it is the New Moon. From there, each 12 degrees that the Moon gets separated from the Sun is one Tithi.

There are 30 Tithis in one lunar month, between one new Moon and the next.

15 Tithis belong to the waxing fortnight or bright half of the month and 15 Tithis belong to the waning fortnight or dark half of the month. Each of the 2 cycles or fortnight is called a Paksha.

The waxing cycle is called the Shukla Paksha (from the new Moon to the full Moon)

The waning cycle is called the Krishna Paksha (from the full Moon to the new Moon)

Tithis are named from 1 to 15 starting from the beginning of the Paksha that they belong to. For example, the first Tithi after the New Moon is called Sukhla Pratipada, and the first Tithi after the Full Moon is called Krishna Pratipada.

It is important to note that starting or ending of a Tithi depends upon degree of Moon from that of Sun, therefore a Tithi ends or starts at a time in a day not like the Modern Time when a date changes midnight.

    Calculation of the Tithi

Take the longitude of the Moon

Subtract the longitude of the Sun

    Divide the result by 12

Round the remainders up to the next whole number.

    Example:

Suppose the Sun is in 5 deg Aries (5 deg.) and the Moon is in 28 deg. Sagittarius (268 deg.)

    268-5 = 263

    263/12 = 21.91, which is rounded to 22

Tithi is 22, meaning 7th Tithi of the waning cycle or Krishna Saptami (First 15th tithi of waxing Moon or Shukla paksh and 7th tithi of waning Moon or Krishna paksh)

    Significance of Tithis

The Hindu Tithis are classified into 8 types:

Nanda Tithi – Bestows happiness, enjoyment.

Bhadra Tithi – Auspicious for starting new work.

Jaya Tithi – Auspicious for winning over enemies.

Rikta Tithi – To be avoided for any important work.

Poorna Tithi – Auspicious to complete all jobs.

Dagdha Tithi – Inauspicious, fear of hurdles, obstructing accomplishment of the work.

Visha Tithi – Inauspicious, fear of hurdles, obstructing accomplishment of the work.

Hutashan Tithi – Inauspicious, fear of hurdles, obstructing accomplishment of the work.

Paksha : It is a group of is tithis from Pratipada to Poornima and Poornima to Amavasya.

Karan : It is a half part of the ‘tithi’. So one tithi consists of two Karan. They are total in numbers 11 Karan, out of which 7 are char (variable) and 4 are fixed (constant).

    The char Karan are:-

    Fixed Karan are:-

    Auspicious days:

These fifteen days have been given five names:

If above mentioned days falls on the given Tithis it is considered as auspicious and work taken in hand is successfully accomplished.

    For example:

    (If, 1st, 6th, 11th falls on Friday, 2nd, 7th, 12th falls on Wednesday, etc.)

    2. Visha

    3. Hutashan

The dates are considered to be inauspicious if it falls on the following days.

The sidereal zodiac is imaginary belt of 360 degrees divided into 27 equal parts of 13°20´ (13 degrees and twenty minutes).

    13°20´ x 27 = 360°

    (13° x 27 = 351°, 20´ x 27 = 540/60 = 9°)

    351° + 9° = 360° (1 degrees = 60 minutes)

These 27 Nakshatra are the mile stone/km. for the measurement of the 360° zodiac…, when Moon travels 12° then one lunar day (Tithi) is completed, (luner day, the day govern by Moon is little shorter than the day govern by the Sun). The zodiac is further divided in 12 equal parts, each part of 30 degrees called Rashi (360/12 = 30°). The distance between one Nakshatra to another Nakshatra is 13°20´ (13 degrees, 20 minutes), and one Rashi contains almost 2.25 Nakshatra and Rashis name was given on the figure appeared by these Nakshatra.

Moon rotates around 27 Nakshatra in 30 days. The Moon cycle of ‘Shukla-nitya’ (fifteen days to full Moon) and ‘Krishna-nitya’ (fifteen days of the descending Moon). Classification of Nakshatras:-

In the Astrology, Tithi, Nakshatra, Days, Karan, Yoga, Tara, Moon and Lagna have important role according to their power. (1) Tithi (The lunar date) have got 1 point, (2) Nakshatra 4 points, (3) Days 8 points, (4) Karan (half part of the day) 16 points, (5) Yoga 32 points, (6) Tara 64 points, (7) Moon 100 points and (8) Lagna 1000 points.

In the Astrology, Moon plays very important role and very special places are allotted to it which indicates the strength (Bal) of the Moon planet. A strong Moon is capable of removing many doshas, so to know the power of Moon which gives the idea that which ‘Nakshatra’ is good or bad for a native and a system is adopted which is called ‘Tara Chakra’.

    1. Janma (Birth) Tara – The Janma (birth star) Nakshatra, the 10th from Janma nakshatra also known as Karna Nakshatra and the 19th from Janma Nakshatra known as Adhana Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Not good.

    2. Sampat Tara – The 2nd the 11th and the 20th Nakshatras counted from Janma Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Very good.

    3. Vipat Tara – The 3rd, the 12th and the 21st stars counted from Janma Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Bad.

    4. Kshema Tara – The 4th, the 13th and the 22nd Nakshatras counted from the Janama Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Good.

    5. Pratyari Tara – The 5th, the 14th and the 23rd Nakshatras from Janma Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Not good.

    9. Ati-Mitra Tara – The 9th, the 18th and the 27th Nakshatras from Janma Nakshatra constitute this Tara. Significance: Good.

Tara Bala: Tara Bala is used to find the suitability of muhurtha. Tara Bala indicates the strength provided by Nakshatras (stars) to your birth star. Nakshatra/star of moon at the time of birth is known as birth star. Method of find Tara Bala is this: Count from your birth Nakshatra to Nakshatra of the muhurtha day. Counting from the birth Nakshatra; if the number is 1-3-5-7-10-12-14-16-19-21-23-25, then it is not suitable. For example: If the birth Nakshatra is Swati, and today’s Nakshatra is Ashwini, then, counting from Swati to Ashwini gives us the number 14, which is not a good Tara Bala. Therefore, this Nakshatra should be avoided. The simple way to calculate Tara Bala is this: The number

Obtained (by calculating position of the muhurtha Nakshatra from the Janma Nakshatra), is divided by 9. If the remainder is 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 0 then the Tara Bala is good, otherwise it is bad.

In the Tara Chakra 9 stages of the Nakshatra are define – (1) Janam (Nakshatra of the time of birth), (2) Sampat, (3) Vipat, (4) Kshema, (5) Pratyari, (6) Sadhak, (7) Vadha, (8) Mitra, (9) Ati-Mitra.

    Rule:-

    (1) From the Janam Nakshatra, the third, fifth and seventh (3rd, 5th and 7th) Nakshatra is bad.

    (2) First and ninth (1st and 9th) are medium.

Moon position and the Nakshatra at the time of birth decides the Mahadasha of the planet. Since we have 27 Nakshatras in all, therefore after allotting I stages to them we will have 9 groups of 3 Nakshatra each.

For example:- If a child is born on Satabhisha and find out its ‘Tara Chakra’.

3rd, 5th and 7th – Nakshatra are bad. So the 3rd Nakshatra from Janam Nakshatra:- Uttarabad, Mrigashira and Chitra – are bad.

Tara: A unique Vedic system is followed in muhurtha Astrology, Horary Astrology and Predictive Astrology. In the system, Nakshatras (star) are grouped into nine sub-group covers three stars and he is a specific name of ‘Tara’ preceded by a word which signifies benefic or malefic
