    Introduction

Pentecost, Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks, falls on the 50th day after Passover. Shavuot is traditionally a joyous time of giving thanks and presenting offerings for the new grain of the summer wheat harvest in Israel. Traditionally, during Pentecost (Shavuot), the High Priest was to take two loaves of freshly baked wheat bread and offer them before the Lord. The wheat bread that was offered up to the Lord was made from the newly harvested wheat.

Shavuot is one of the three pilgrimage feasts when all Jewish males are required to appear before the Lord in Jerusalem. The tradition of decorating with greenery on Shavuot represents the harvest and the Torah’s reference as the tree of life. Thousands of years after the first Shavuot, traditional Jews still light candles and recite blessings, adorn their homes and synagogues with greenery, eat dairy foods, study the Torah, read the book of Ruth and attend Shavuot services.

In Eastern Orthodox Christianity, rather than just a single experience, Pentecost can refer to the entire 50 days of Easter. Pentecost is also called White Sunday or Whitsunday. Traditionally, in the United Kingdom, the next day, Whit Monday, was also a public holiday. For New Testament Christians, Pentecost signifies the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks. The Holy Spirit endowed the church with power and added 3,000 new believers.

Act 2 reports that after Jesus ascended into heaven, Jesus’ followers were gathered together for the Feast of Harvest and the Holy Spirit filled the whole house where they were sitting (Acts 2:2). All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them (Acts 2:4). Moreover, Pentecost is widely celebrated and honored in various circles of faith. It’s a reminder that the Holy Spirit still endows us with the power to do the work we have been assigned to do on the earth. In the midst of writing a devotional for Advent, the Holy Spirit engrained this phrase upon my heart: milk and honey. As I prayed for more clarity, the Lord begin to share with me his desire for me to release a written prophetic word of instruction and revelation for Pentecost 2022.

Through this devotional, the Holy Spirit is going to endow you with power and sustenance for the future. We have crossed over into a new epoch, and the Lord is releasing instruction that will provide clarity
