    Her Possessive Alpha - Eyitalent

    CHAPTER 1

    The angry witch

Deep within the boundaries that lay between the supernatural earth and the underworld, in a place where no mortal has ever visited, there lived a witch named Susan. Susan has lived in the boundaries for many centuries, and she is a creature known by many names; Susannah, the wicked one, the most powerful immortal, the all-seeing eye, but by popular demand (because of the numerous destructions she’s caused), many know her as the last witch.

    **********

"Sisters of the Virani, and all my deceased kin,

Hear me now today, as I call you from within."

Susan was mixing up a concussion with the souls she’d just collected from the graveyard. She was making a spell on a boiling pot of green flames; this spell was quite different from the ageing spell she had in mind to prepare before. She rarely changes spells, but there could only be one reason that made her change her plans so swiftly; one reason that could have been so important, and that reason is none other than Rabbi Sinclair.

Rabbi; even after so long, she still detests every single letter of that name, Rabbi is the only reason she still wanders round the earth, because of her quest for revenge. You might ask that why does she want revenge on someone who is already dead? Rabbi might have been dead for over eight centuries now, but his soul still lives on, she knows this because couldn’t capture his soul after his death, but now after waiting for centuries, the soul of Rabbi Sinclair has returned to the earth in another body; the body of Lucas De’ Clan. He might be a different person with no knowledge of the past, but it does not matter; all she wants is the soul of Rabbi, and she’ll get it no matter what.

    Squawk-squawk squawk-squawk

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her pet Raven, Nabin, he always makes those sounds when he’s hungry.

She stood and headed over to the tree branch where the bird sat and began stroking its head with her fingers.

Patience, my little one. This spell I am making is far more important than anything you can possibly fill your stomach with; nothing tastes as sweet as revenge, dear Nabin.

She continued. My plans changed when I saw Lucas De’ Clan at that graveyard. I have not seen him since the day I gave him the cursed existence, I was not pleased with what I saw today at all; in fact, my heart is as enraged as the flames which boil my pot. He was supposed to be miserable; he was supposed to suffer up till the point that he would wish for death to come to his aid… she stomped.

But no…. what happened to him was different from what I expected when I gave him the beast. He became an alpha, he found loyal followers, he found his mate, he found fulfillment, he found happiness…. OVER MY DEAD BODY!!!! Over my dead body will I ever allow that to continue….

    Squawk….

The volume of Nabin’s squawks increased and that’s when Susan realized the pressure she was putting on her poor little bird with her claws; she’d gone from stroking to strangling.

Sorry Nabin, she muttered as she released her grip on her bird and continued with the strokes. It just makes me so mad…. Seeing him happy… makes me so mad.

After comforting her pet, she wandered back to her large boiling pot and continued preparing the enchantment while she spoke.

"Lucas De Clan. When Rabbi reincarnated and returned to this world, I had hopes that the goddess would bring him back as an animal, or even give him the most miserable form of existence, but no, dear goddess just had to be so merciful to give him another human life, so he could ruin other people's lives the way he ruined mine. I met this new descendant of Rabbi for the first time eleven years ago at that hotel, and of course, he was no different from his ancestor than I'd expected; drinking himself to stupor, having a maiden and child at home but still didn’t mind to sleep with a strange woman he'd never even met before, might be a different body, but still remains nothing but a selfish bastard.

I cursed him that day, not only that but I also took the souls of his wife and child, he didn't deserve them anyway… she paused her statement with an evil round of laughter before continuing.

Even with how much I punished him, the desire to get revenge for my kin still burns ever so strongly within me, I am not yet satisfied until I have his soul in my hand, but first, I want to see him suffer so much. I want to see him beg me to kill him.

    Squawk...

Patience Nabin. As soon as it is done, this spell will make our revenge complete, the end of Lucas De’ Clan is yet to come, very soon… She checked the insides of the large pot where she was cooking up her spell, it would soon be ready, all that was left was to wait till the fog erupts from the pot’s surface. She then got up and went back to continue stroking her pet, and while she waited, she let her mind travel back to that fateful day, the day that became the worst day of her life; the day she met Rabbi Sinclair, the story of how she became the last witch.

    **********

Long ago, humans and witches along with other mystical creatures; vampires, werewolves, trolls, etc., lived together in harmony, but things changed when the humans began to multiply and their forces overpowered the other creatures. The humans became greedy and jealous of the great power the great creatures possessed, and they began to attack them for no reason, making them almost extinct after finding out the element that made them most powerless, their weakness, silver.

Because they held the greatest power, the witches were the main target for the humans amongst the mystical creatures, and the humans showed no mercy until they wiped them all off the face of the earth, one by one, until all the wizards were gone, and then until it remained the last coven of witches, the Virani.

    CHAPTER 2

    The story of Susannah 1

The Virani lived in hiding in the drawls, a magical forest realm that bordered a human kingdom, Bandaria. They brought stability and peace to the kingdom, but the Bandarians never believed this, they hated the witches like a plague. Their king, William, hated mystical creatures and sorcerers the most and would kill anyone of them on sight. Hence, the witches were forced to live in hiding and were forbidden to reveal their powers whenever they visited the human world for fear of getting killed.

Susannah was a young witch who had been born into the Virani during the war. A few days after her birth, her mother escaped an ambush with the help of her father and a few other witches, and they ran into a forest, creating a barrier around it with their powers to protect them from the humans who might want to attack them later. Her father, the last wizard, died shortly after being unable to sustain from the silver wounds inflicted on him by the humans, giving his final power to sustain the barrier. The Virani was created by the last group of witches who survived the great attack that wiped out the wizards. Her mother, Gabrielle was put in charge of the Virani and the drawls (their home), as she was the most powerful witch amongst them, and she had given birth to an even more powerful witch, Susannah.

Susannah, it’s time for dinner, come on down or your food will get cold!

Susannah was daydreaming, recalling the story of her people and how they ended up in the drawls when her mother snapped her out of her thoughts.

Ok, Mama, she said in response to the call from her mother Gabrielle. I’m ready, Mama, after coming downstairs, she sat at the table and was served a plate of newt eyes and froggy toes amongst other raw body parts from the pond creatures.

Hmmm, looks delicious, she drooled as she began to gobble her meal.

Susannah honey, when you finish eating, there’s something I want you to do for me, okay?

Ok, Mama, she replied as she stuffed her mouth full.

After Susannah had finished eating, she went to meet her mother who was tending to the forest creatures, birds, deer’s and rabbits; the pets of the Virani outside of their small cottage.

I’m all done, Mama, thank you for the food, she said, calling her mother’s attention.

Gabrielle tapped the space beside her on the rock where she sat. Come and sit down dear.

After Susannah sat down beside her, her mother heaved a sigh before continuing.

The barrier is getting weaker, there are not many of us left as we still had your father when we created the last one.

As Gabrielle was speaking, Susannah remembered when her mother told her about the wizards; their male counterparts, they were much more powerful than the witches but were few in numbers compared to them. Thanks to the humans, they were no longer in existence as her father, who had died two centuries ago, was the last wizard.

Now that the wizards are no longer with us, we are unable to reproduce and save the continuation of our kind. I called you here because you are the youngest witch amongst us. As the rest of us have already passed our peak and our powers have declined. I believe you are now mature enough to go into the human world.

Susannah looked up at her mother with a surprised face. Why did she want her to go into the human world? What for? As if sensing her thoughts, Gabrielle continued,

We need to make a new barrier, even though there is no hope of continuing our existence, we should still save what we have left of the rest of us. As you clocked 200 yesterday, which is the beginning of the adult stage of a witch’s life, your powers are at their highest level, which means you are now the strongest and fastest amongst us, hence you are perfect for going to Bandaria to gather ingredients for the spell which will be used to create a new barrier.

But I don’t even know where to start, Susannah confessed as her face showed nothing short of confusion.

I will guide you, Gabrielle replied. It’s not very hard, there is a witch Priya, a former member of the Virani who has been able to live amongst the humans unnoticed. We go to her whenever we need anything from there. You will go to her with a list that I will give you and tell her that you are Gabrielle’s daughter, Susannah. She knows who you are as she left here when you were about 50 years old. You might not remember her as you were still very young then but she will surely remember you. She will help you to find the ingredients.

Ok, Susannah nodded, replacing the confusing feeling with that of nervousness.

There is one warning I will give to you that you must never forget, Gabrielle said to her. You must never tell anyone who you are or where you come from. No one must ever know that you are a witch, and you must never use your powers when you are there, no matter the situation. Do you understand me?

Susannah was aware of the former attacks on the witches and other creatures, even though she had never witnessed any, she had heard enough scary stories from her mother to understand the resentment humans had against witches.

Yes, Mama, I will never tell anyone, Susannah responded.

Gabrielle then handed her two notes.

Ok now, here is the list of everything you will need along with a note for Priya. She lives on the outskirts of the kingdom so you shouldn’t wander off too far towards the main town as its more dangerous for you there. I will repeat my warning to you Susannah; NEVER EVER tell anyone that you are a witch, and NEVER use your powers while you are there, do you understand me?

Susannah gave a little chuckle, not to ease the tension she felt inside but to assure her mother that everything would be all right.

Do not worry mama, I won’t forget all that you have taught me, I promise I will never tell anyone, and she meant it.

    CHAPTER 3

    The story of Susannah 2

Growing up and living within the comforts and safety of the drawls for 200 years, Susannah never had the problem of not being allowed to use her powers, but now that she’d left her home for the first time, things were a lot more difficult. She’d set off the following morning, feeling anxious with a bit of excitement for this new adventure that awaited her, but it was far from what she expected as the forest separating her home from the human world was filled with darkness even during the brightest of days, no wonder it was called the dark forest, she travelled for three days through those thick bushes and it was the worst experience for her as she was left with nothing but her intellect and supernatural strength to guide her as her powers were not to be used during her journey.

She was more than glad that the gruesome journey would soon come to an end when she spotted from afar the small cottages that lined the outskirts of the kingdom of Bandaria, she was out of the thick forest now; and soon she would reach there and meet with Priya.

By evening of the third day, she’d crossed the border and stepped into the outer towns of the kingdom of Bandaria. It was a small village, and farmers, gardeners, as well as other laborers were already packing up their work tools to retire into their homes for the night after a day’s worth of work.

Excuse me… um…. Susannah called to one of the townsmen who was heading home, carrying his harvest for the day in a basket on his head, he ignored her. She tried calling to several other people too, but everyone went along their business, not minding the strange little girl that had just entered into this small town mysteriously.

Hello young lady, are you lost? Looking for someone maybe? She turned to see a middle-aged woman smiling at her, the woman was holding a basket of wheat in her hands, the basket also contained a small sickle, she appeared to be heading home.

Well, um yes… actually, I was hoping if you could help me. I’m looking for someone who lives around here.

I don’t know many people around here either dear, I’m a newcomer like you; I am a widow who just moved to this town not up to a month ago with my son, but my uncle… he’s originally from this village and he knows everyone better than the back of his hand, I’m sure he’ll be able to help you. What’s your name dear?

    It’s um… Susannah.

Well Susannah, it’s nice to meet you. I am Gwendolyn. I’ll tell you what…. You look worn out, I’m sure you’ve been travelling for days… how about I offer you shelter and some food for the night? Then after supper you can discuss who you’re looking for with my uncle and tomorrow when the day is bright again, you can go and find the person with his directions?

Really??? You’d do that…. Oh, thank you so much!... But I hope it won’t be much of a bother?

Oh, not at all dear, my uncle is very hospitable, this town borders the main kingdom so we do receive many travelers from outside and my uncle has hosted many. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind taking in a harmless little girl for just one night.

Susannah then followed Gwendolyn to her cottage which was just a few houses away, and when they arrived, the both of them were greeted at the entrance by Gwendolyn’s five-year-old son, Naman.

Mama!! Mama!!!! The little boy yelped excitedly as Gwendolyn dropped the basket and scooped her little boy into the air, mother and son exchanged giggles as they all entered inside.

Where’s Uncle Harem? Gwendolyn finally asked after she put Naman down.

He says to tell mama he’s gone to the pa-wece, Naman said, revealing the two empty gaps in his mouth where his front teeth were supposed to occupy.

Ugh the palace! Every time. I don’t know why he won’t give up on trying to get a job there! And he keeps leaving my little boy all alone!!! Gwendolyn then turned to her guest, I’m sorry, I guess you won’t be able to meet him right away, but still let’s sit for supper, I’m sure he’ll be back soon.

    Ok.

Susannah sat as Gwendolyn served her some bread and cheese from the cupboard. Not like she could tell her that this food did no good to witches, she didn’t want to blow her cover, so she managed to take a few bites of the repulsive meal. When Gwen noticed that she wasn’t interested in the food, she told her not to force herself anymore, leftovers were always served to the farm pigs and chickens so there was no waste even if she decided not to eat. Uncle Harem then stepped in soon after Gwen had cleared the plates and tucked Naman into bed.

Welcome uncle, any luck this time?

No, Uncle Harem rolled his eyes as he took off his jacket. Turns out I have to perform a deed worthy enough so king William will sign me in his favor to be palace worker. All I want is a position in the court, even if it’s the smallest, if I had it, I’ll be paid in high wages, then we wouldn’t have to choke on bread and cheese for the rest of our lives!

We are not complaining Uncle, Naman and I are satisfied with every little grain of food the creator provides us, remember that some do not even have the bread and cheese to eat.

Whatever!!! You might be happy about your poor condition but I’m not, and I won’t stop until I get what I want… just then, Harem’s eyes wandered in the direction of the strange little girl who was sitting at the small table in front of the fireplace, if there’s anything he’s sure of, it’s that she’s not from this town, nor any of the nearby towns.

Who is she? He asked Gwen, nudging his head towards where Susannah sat.

    CHAPTER 4

    The story of Susannah 3

Oh, um… her name is Susannah, she’s a visitor who just arrived this evening so I offered her shelter for the night since she won’t be able to travel any further until the morning comes. She’s looking for someone who lives in Bandaria, I was hoping you would help her because you know everyone in this place better than I do.

Harem hung his jacket on the stand and went to Susannah, taking a seat in front of her while his eyes scrutinized her sharply.

I see… and Susannah, might I know where you are from and who exactly you are looking for?

Umm…. I’m from one of the neighboring towns Sir.

He squinted his eyes. Which of them?

    Umm. … I … um…

Susannah looked back and forth between Gwen and Harem, she definitely didn’t prepare for this, oh, what would she say now? Gwen quickly cut in much to her relief.

Oh, stop it Uncle Harem! Can’t you see that you’re frightening the poor little girl???

I asked her a simple question, even a baby should be able to answer.

And what if she doesn’t know where she’s from? Or if she doesn’t want to tell you? There can be many reasons she can’t provide an answer so just let it be!

Harem stood up from the chair, pointing his two hands in the air in a surrender while he turned away. Ok, fine. But you’d better be aware of who you bring into this house next time… these are dangerous times, and we never know if we’ll be seeing any more of those witches in our midst.

Gwen then changed the topic. Susannah dear…. Please tell Harem who it is you came here to see so you won’t have any trouble finding them in the morning.

Finally, the answer she’d been waiting for. I came here to look for Priya?

As if the words shot him in the back, Harem then turned back to face Susannah. Priya??? There’s only one Priya in this village… listen little girl, you’d better tell me who you are or you’ll be sleeping with the guard dogs outside. Who is Priya to you???

At his angry remark, Susannah turned to Gwendolyn, wondering what was the matter this time. Gwen had a helpless look on her face, a face that said that there was nothing she could do again.

    Uncle Harem, please….

Shut up!!! You’d better keep that mouth of yours shut or you and your son will join her outside. He then turned his angry face back to Susannah. I don’t like to repeat myself, but I will in your case. WHO IS PRIYA TO YOU?!!!

Only one sentence that a frightened Susannah could let out of her mouth this time.

Priya is um…. She is my aunt!

He looked at her strangely, and then the words suddenly brought a calm demeanor to Harem’s face, the anger in his eyes suddenly disappeared like cleared fog.

Oh, so you’re Priya’s niece, eh? As in… you two are related???

Um… yes, Susannah replied, still having no idea of what was going on…why he suddenly changed expression.

Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t know that I hosted a relative of someone as lovable as Priya… oh forgive me dear.

Um… What’s with him all of a sudden? Is he drunk? Susannah wondered.

Say no more! Priya is a good friend of mine, and she’s very popular in this village too. I will take you to her house myself tomorrow morning. In fact, you look tired, he then called his niece. Gwen!

    Yes Uncle?

Give her my bed, she’s a very honorable guest and should be treated with the utmost respect.

Gwen carried an even more confused face than the one Susannah carried as she followed behind him. Whatever was going on with Uncle Harem? Why is he acting this when he knows the truth even more than she does?

Harem then walked back towards the door, retrieving his jacket back from where he’d hung it, and putting it back on. I have to go somewhere tonight, don’t wait up for me, I’ll be back in the morning to take the girl to see her aunt, make sure she sleeps well. He then gave Gwen a threatening glare, whispering a few words to her at the door in such a way that Susannah was unable to hear. Make sure you don’t tell her anything, else Naman will suffer for it."

After he’d whispered the threat, he had the normal innocent smile returned back to his face, looking past Gwen to tell Susannah goodnight.

    Goodnight, Susannah.

Goodnight, and thank you for your kindness.

    **********

Susannah woke up the next morning to the sound of weapons and footsteps stomping and palace guards barging into the cottage, they were led here by the king’s chief Guard Krone, and of course, Uncle Harem. She got up from the small bed in the corner of the room, rubbing her eyes and wondering why the uniformed men had come here so early. Gwen had woken up too, she was holding Naman to her chest near the table, her eyes reddened with tears.

Uncle Harem upon spotting Susannah on his bed, pointed in her direction while speaking to chief Krone.

That’s her! That’s the witch who was looking for Priya, she’s Priya’s niece. I have no doubt she’s one of them! She’s a witch I tell you! He pointed at her, snarling.

Susannah could do nothing but look in Gwen’s direction, her sad eyes asking for answers.

I’m sorry! Gwen cried. Your aunt was executed three days ago for witchery. I would have warned you if you’d told me about Priya before my uncle came but he’d already threatened me, I’m sorry dear Susannah, I truly am sorry.

There’s nothing to be sorry about, Krone cut in. She has nothing to fear if she passes the silver test but if she fails, it means she’s a witch, and you know how witches get served here; she’ll be burnt at the stakes tomorrow.

He then turned to Uncle Harem. You have done well by coming to report her to us. I’ll make sure to put in a good word for you so King William can offer you one of the finest positions in court.

Oh, thank you chief Kone. I am most honored to be of service to the king, anytime.

Krone nodded, then turned to one of his guards, arrest the girl.

    CHAPTER 5

    Rabbi

Susannah huddled her legs close in her empty cell, she’s been isolated from the other prisoners due to the charges against her, in about an hour’s time, she’ll take the silver test that will determine her fate. Of course, she knows she’ll fail it since Harem’s accusations were true and it will be the death at the stakes for her afterwards if she does not find a way to escape from this place soon.

How did things go so wrong? She wondered. Her mother was right, the outside world is truly a cruel place, humans are truly cruel. Priya is dead now, and there is no hope for getting the ingredients anymore since she can never show her face in this town even if she escapes. She’ll think about the ingredients later, but for now, she has to think of a way to get out of this place. Maybe she should just use her powers now?

Just then, she began to hear footsteps coming towards the direction of her cell. The guards were bringing in another prisoner, she stood up from the ground so she could get a better view. As the two guards reached the front of the cell holding the chained prisoner, she began to hear their voices.

I hope you’ve emptied all his pockets? Make sure he’s got nothing on him that will help him escape this time around!!!

Yes, I have, I know he’s a troublesome one so I double checked so he doesn’t escape again. Stupid peasant. Always stealing anything he can lay his filthy hands on.

I’m sure he’s picked the pockets of even the devil himself, he’s very smart this boy. Put him with the witch, maybe she’ll help us put an end to his misery once and for all since the king doesn’t sign death warrants for thieves.

The guards mocked as they threw the young peasant into the cell where Susannah was. They then locked the gates behind him, laughing hysterically as they did.

Good luck with the witch, young peasant!

Susannah stared at her new inmate as he got up from the ground; he had rich black hair with blue eyes, he looked very handsome, probably in his mid-twenties.

    Hello there, she said.

He didn’t say a word to her, only brought out a small key he was hiding in between his hands. He’d picked the guards pockets when they weren’t aware! He was truly a fine thief, she thought.

He proceeded to unlock and slowly open the gates, attempting to escape just as soon as he’d been brought in! He looked like he was doing something he was already an expert at doing before. Of course, she did hear from the guards that this wasn’t the first time he’d escaped. As soon as he was about to leave, she tugged at his shirt.

    Wait! Please!

What? He turned back to her with an impatient look on his face that showed he didn’t like to be disturbed. Like why was she bothering him right in the middle of his escape? Did she want him to get caught?

I’m sorry um… could you take me with you? Please?

He didn’t like this at all, he’s a lone man and he works alone, just the way he likes it, with no interferences or disturbances, no one to bother him or to make him get caught, but this girl… maybe he could make an exception this time around.

Follow me and do as I say; make sure you keep your mouth shut, he instructed.

She nodded her head in response, then followed behind him as they made their way out of the cell and through the dungeon halls. They met two guards standing at the entrance of the dungeon, Susannah thought they were done for and would be caught now but it seemed Rabbi had a trick up his sleeve. He removed
