    The Bugler

    A bugler can be a trained musician or an honor guard member who is assigned to the electronic bugle. With Congress mandating that every veteran receive Military Funeral Honors (MFH) in the Defense Authorization Act (DAA) of 2000, the demand for ceremonies requiring buglers shot through the roof.

    While many live buglers attend funerals as they can, an honor guard member holding the electronic bugle to simulate sounding Taps is a necessary substitute many times. The electronic bugle also helps law enforcement honor guards around the country as well.

    Bugler Myths

    Myth 1: Bugle calls are played. Actually, bugle calls are sounded.

    Myth 2: The bugler can sound other calls at a funeral. Military buglers cannot play any other music other than Taps at a funeral or memorial service. As for civilian volunteers and first responders who sound Taps, protocol dictates that
