The general problem
Social media, of all kinds, can be very useful. It’s the fastest and most reliable form of communication we have ever had. The ability to directly talk with a family member without needing both to be on a phone call is a relatively new form of luxury. However, this is the only benefit. Social media creates a new world, released from our physical limits, introducing many impurities in our physical world. We tie ourselves to an online presence, creating a world and a persona which we do not occupy.
Why? Why would we do this?
Social media is designed this way. It is designed to hook people in and keep them there as long as possible. This is especially effective against kids of all ages. It is designed to form a community who hate each other, constantly fighting, never peaceful. Anger is a great motivator to spread ideas. Anger is an infection of the mind, and one which is very contagious.
We use social media to spread our ideas, to stir trouble, and even to become famous. The amount of celebrities who started on a social media platform is baffling. They contribute almost nothing to their community. If anything, they actively harm it.
