Air and Ground Poems - Elizabeth Ann Bowen

    Garden (Dove)

Seeds planted in an affectionately tended nest,

She keeps them warm and secure.

    Dissuades undesirable company,

    Tolerantly awaiting the anticipated influx.

    Departs briefly,

    Outings never over extensive.

    Time flutters by,

    Moment shortly to come.

    It finally succumbs;

    Life finds its way through.

    At ease, she sings.

    Duty fulfilled

Power harnessed correctly, the mind now filled may fill another.

And blank pages, if embraced, may change a nation.

Before lacking life, left to waste away

    now precious and treasured,

will live forever in our hearts.

The mind, the pages, may be as one:

    The pages without words,

    the mind without knowledge,

Have no place in the world.

Both have great potential, both could be very strong,

yet ultimately, together they have tremendous power over all.

    Hands

    Spiders

    dancing in a

    hurried yet elegant manner,

    as they would
