About this ebook

There were once many gods that governed the earth.  Most of them have been relegated to nothing more than ancient mythology.  Only one has survived to modern times.  We know him today simply as God.  However, when you step away from the taught canon and look at the ancient world with a more open mind, you start to see the similarities between the gods.  The so-called pagan deities that interacted with humans also included God among them.  He was as real of a being as the others.  God actually shares so many common characteristics with supreme deities of other cultures, the case could be made that they are the same being.  What if we have been praying to the same deity under various names throughout much of human history?  If so, what is his real name?  This information is not being presented as undisputed fact, however, there is enough evidence to suggest it as a possibility.  A very intriguing possibility in my opinion.

Secret History of God - Joseph Yeager

    Birth of the Theory

This idea seemed to come to me out of nowhere just a few short months ago, but the seeds of it had been planting in my subconscious for several decades.  After the idea sprung to life, I reflected back on several experiences throughout my past that contributed to its forming.  Moments that seemed unimportant at the time and were simply stored deep in the back of my mind as a vague memory.

I spent thirteen years in the United States Marine Corps.  A career that was cut short due to injuries that led to being medically retired.  During my career, I had the honor of serving alongside many outstanding young men from every possible background you can think of.  I say men, because I was in the infantry the entire time and did not work directly with any of the outstanding female Marines.  It was a beautiful blend of cultures, beliefs, and ideologies all mixed together in each unit I was with.  You will never find a more diverse and inclusive group of people anywhere like the ones you can find in the military.  The culture there is built for greater learning and understanding about other people.  There is not a fear of offending when asking a genuine question.  We are free to actually learn about each other.  In turn, everyone was willing to answer those tough questions honestly, when presented with them.

Religion was a big topic in trying to learn and understand one another.  I served with believers of every religion possible and was able to learn about them.  There were even a few religions that I had never heard of prior.  One thing that stood out was how similar a lot of religions are to each other when the human influence on them was stripped away.  Many of the core beliefs, teachings, and ancient stories are almost identical.  There is a great deal of comparative writings available out there on that topic.  I was always fascinated with the similarities between so many different religions.  This kicked off a quest to learn the truth if it were out there.  I thought one of them had to be more factual than the others, right?  I did not want to make the common mistake of blindly believing that the one I grew up with was the correct one.  Interestingly, every religious person on earth believes they were born into the truly correct one.  The common theme I found here was too much human involvement and alterations of their official canons.  I could not just blindly follow any of them, as their doctrines have been transformed to fit their individual narratives.

The next step was to look at some of the alternate sources for information.  There were many alternate sources looked into, but this ultimately led me to the Free Masons several years ago.  They are widely connected to the Knights Templar and are commonly thought to be the decedents of them.  The Templars are believed to have left Jerusalem with sacred artifacts and knowledge from Solomon's Temple.  Perhaps, this secret knowledge will provide the answers I was looking for.  This source was a short-lived interest, however.  I quickly got the feeling that this was more of the same.  A lot of human influence on the oral tradition, and the knowledge passed down was probably canonized.  One thing that did stick with me is that one of the initial criteria to join was that you have to believe in and pray to a god.  Note, it does not state a specific one, just that you believe in one.  I found that to be very interesting, but honestly, I did not stay with it long enough to uncover the reason for that detail.

    Fast forward a few
