About this ebook

This book was written to help all born-again Christians to believe that Eternal Life begins in our present life on earth and continue on into the World of Eternity. It is designed to impress on the minds of all humankind that those who are considered their enemies, will respond and repay them in kindness as a friend.

Accordingly, the chosen subject, The Road to Eternal Life, was selected in order to broaden my knowledge and understanding of Christian believers concepts as to why Eternal Life can be lived in our present day journey on earth, and it is a viable truth in Gods plan of salvation. Also, this research is devoted to find out what concepts theories, and beliefs already exist in this area. In addition, my goal was to read and understand the history why Jesus Christs teachings are the Way, the Truth, and Everlasting Life for all who repent of sins and believe His Gospel. In addition, my purpose is with the intent to gain a new perspective and pursue efforts to add new thoughts and ideas and to strengthen prior ones in relation to the Kingdom of God which concerns the future and the End of Time. Furthermore, to pursue efforts in detailed reviews of other book data that contain ideas, concepts, and key theories of biblical opinions of Gods Eternal Life Plan... Then analyze and evaluate these sources information and evidence used in their conclusion.

Likewise, consider the values of other source ideas, theories, concepts, practices that are useful in todays religious culture. Similarly, there is the desire to pursue creative
innovations efforts which set forth new theories never before revealed on the subject of Eternal Life. In addition, my efforts are directed to provide accepted meaning, and strength, and theories that already exist. Likewise, the primary design of this research is: (1). to determine what claims are made by major sources in traditional work, (2). to determine if these prior sources actually report viable data, and evaluate and assess the validity of their arguments given for rejection/acceptance of Eternal Life, (3). to determine what ideas, theories, and practices are based on inductive and deductive practices.

    DEDICATION

Dedication of this book The Road to Eternal Life is hereby made to Dr. Harold F. Hunter, President of Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary, who was instrumental in encouraging me to never give up but continue to pursue my goals that God desires me to do. There were times when thoughts of quitting became the norm because the courses seemed too hard and I was not attaining straight A’s in my studies. I even prayed and asked God if it was His will for me to continue in school but no answer was ever received from My Lord Jesus Christ. However, the urge to continue my studies never left me. So, I continued on with the help of the Lord and completed my studies as required.

In honor of my wife, Patricia Lee Richmond, (1928-2010), who has gone on to be with Jesus in the heavenly realm of glory, who constantly persuaded me to continue with my studies, even though she suffered my fellowship because I worked up to 2:00 A.M. almost every night. Thereby, depriving her of our time together in precious communication with one another as husband and wife. In addition, dedication is made to my daughter Carolyn and family, to my son Larry and family, to my sister Nadine, and my niece Kristy and family. Because of their prayers for me I accomplished my goal.

It is hoped that this book may be used at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary to encourage Bible student to fulfill God’s calling in their lives and never to give up pursing God’s desired goal for them. Also, as it has often been said, it is better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all.

    ABSTRACT

    SUBJECT:ROAD TO ETERNAL LIFE

    A. Biblical Inerrancy, B. Biblical Infallibility, C. Biblical Inspiration, D. Plenary Inspiration, E. Protestant, F. Reformation, G. Renaissance, H. Scripture, I. Sensus Plenior, and J. Verbal Inspiration.

    II. Purpose of Review

The purpose of this book is to pursue and to determine the validity, authority, and trustworthiness of the Bible relative to Eternal Life. This book review is intended to assist Christian’s believers, who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and provider of grace and salvation, and further to know the truths and doctrines in the Bible.

It is this author’s desire that further study be made which will establish the truthfulness of the biblical scriptures of the Bible.

    III. Method Employed

The plan is to research a great number of biblical sources, and make a special study of available data, analyze, and evaluate those ideas, concepts, and theories along with the author’s input which concern Eternal Life of all Believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

    IV. Scope of Research

The scope of this research is to evaluate data of arguments given in rejection and acceptance of biblical scriptures and to analyze and evaluate the evidences used to support all claims. Moreover, to determine if new theories can be found and if new ideas may be found which would strengthen those that already exist.

    V. Findings

    A. Source Rejection of the Bible

The sources which reject the truths of Eternal Life and other biblical doctrines claim that the Bible is not the Word of God because it is the works of humans. Furthermore, the rejecting intellectuals claim science does not support God’s creation of the universe or the creations of humans. Also, critics claim discrepancies are found in various texts in the Old Testament and New Testament. In the synoptic gospels, John, and Acts, some critics say that many passages are not parallel. In addition, Liberals and critics deny miracles, healings, and the stories of the flood, for all of these denied beliefs they are merely assumptions of which no Christian should accept. Also nonbelievers say Jesus left the impression his return to earth would happen in the First Century. Textual criticism claims that Christians try to prove that God’s Word is true by quoting the Bible.

    B. Results of Opposing Sources

Consequently, none of the contradiction, beliefs, and theories which Liberals, critics, and some philosophers have does not provide adequate evidence to support their claim.

    C. Results of Christians Sources

Accordingly, Evangelicals declare that divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit gave the thoughts God intended for biblical authors to write. The biblical writers were anointed of God to write with freedom from normal tendencies of fallen man. Moreover, Christians explain that the variances claimed by critics, found in the Old Testament and New Testament, is the result of the Hebrew texts translated into the Greek language. Moreover, use of exact words in the Synoptic Gospels, John, and Acts are not a viable requirement. The Synoptic Gospels were written by different authors in different circumstances at different times and intended for different people in different parts of the world. Furthermore, many of these errors do not exist in modern day translation of Hebrew and Greek texts. In addition, the results of this research affirm relevancy of Eternal Life and support the inerrancy and inspiration of the Bible. Also, Evangelical, Christians, and others say the Bible is trustworthy and inspired for doctrines, truths, faith and is truly the Word of God.

    VI. Conclusions and Recommendations

    A. This research presents a new dimension for Eternal Life, as well as for the truths of inerrancy and inspiration of the Bible. Also, new witnesses and their testimonies of actual experience reveal a new conception that concerns the body of the dead in Christ which are active in heaven and not in a state inactive awaiting for the first resurrection (see texts in Luke 23:42-43 KJV; Acts 14:19 KJV; 2 Corinthians 12:4 KJV; and 2 Corinthians 5:1 TLV). Also, this research strengthens the fact of Eternal Life through added theories relative to universal death which is acknowledged and recorded in Genesis 2:6 KJV; and Genesis 2:17 KJV; and Hebrews 9:27 KJV. This portion reveals a new concept of truths which is not presented in other books. Also ancient history supports the Bible. The Gospels are reliable teachings of Jesus Christ. Archaeology supports the biblical accounts as true. In addition, the Bible has not changed since it was written. Evidence in moral changes of converted people, which their righteous attributes reveals, is proof that the divine scriptures of the Bible is God’s Word.

    PREFACE

The purpose and intention of the author in the preparation of this presentation is directed toward research of various sources currently available to determine the source population of acceptance and/or rejection of biblical truths concerning Eternal Life. And further to evaluate and analyze the arguments for and against this biblical topic as it may concerns the beliefs of Christian faith which may be construed through intellectual situation of today’s demand.

Moreover, the writer does not intend to hesitate in stating his own conclusions that may be reached through analysis and evaluation of the various sources researched. However, the author does recognize and acknowledge the respectful reliance that may be placed on the input theories, concepts, and beliefs written in many volumes of books.

This research makes no claim to be exhaustive. However, the source books researched have been determined helpful through which personal data is ascertained and believed beneficial for the use of written material and acknowledgment of data by others.

Likewise, consider the values of other written source ideas, theories, concepts, practices that are useful in today’s religious culture. Similarly, there is the desire to pursue creative innovations efforts that are set forth as new theories never before provided on the subject of Eternal Life which may provide accepted meaning and strength of theories that already exist. Likewise, the primary design of this research is (1) to determine what claims are made by major sources in traditional work, (2) to determine if these prior sources actually report viable data, and evaluate and assess the validity of their arguments given for rejection/acceptance of Eternal Life, (3) to determine what ideas, theories, and practices are based on inductive and deductive practices.

    CHAPTER 1

JESUS IS THE WORD AND THE WORD IS GOD

    I. INTRODUCTION

The eternal Word written in John’s Gospel, that in the beginning of all things was the Word, and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. This passage has been a controversial issue by some scholars and others for some time. However, the understanding of these terms by most evangelicals, present no problem to them, but some individuals still question the validity of these items as a figure of speech of the writer’s imagination. The primary reason for their disbelief is that they do not consider the incarnation of Jesus Christ as a real event that took place some two thousand years ago. And this conception is fueled by the fact that some just doesn’t want to believe the Bible, therefore, the main objective in this book. John’s Gospel is to provide realistic information to formulate factual thoughts of the inevitable truths given in biblical scriptures of the Bible concerning Jesus Christ and His Word as presented in this thesis which is to provide realistic information to formulate factual thoughts of evitable truths given in biblical scriptures of the Bible concerning Jesus Christ and His word as presented in the Gospel of John. Jesus is the Word (in Greek, logos) called the Word of God, who was with God in the beginning in the creation of all things and is God. A word is a symbol, which is either written or spoken that expresses a thought. We as human being cannot know what a thought is until it is communicated through verbal speech or through written literature. In reading the Bible, we know there are many passages with questions asking who has known the mind of the Lord. We may answer this question by saying, no one, because nobody knows what God’s thoughts are until he tells us with His logos, His Word. Using a man made approach, for example, who can know man’s mind or man’s thinking (except God) until he express his thoughts in word. The only way people can know the thoughts of God in John’s Gospel is to read his book or get assurance by intensive study of the John’s Gospel passage or to get a direct revelation from God. John’s emphases on Jesus Lordship and deity are in his writings, that Jesus is the Word, and the eternal Son of God. Therefore, Jesus is God the Father’s fullest expression of Himself to mankind.

    II. HISTORICITY OF THE WORD

    A. The gospel of John is a class by itself since it is written in a different style, in the viewpoint of messages. His gospel stands completely apart from the synoptic gospels, and his selections of events are radically different in that which was written and intended for a different purpose. He did not set out to write historical facts but that John’s primary purpose is regeneration and vital fulfilling of life in the name of Jesus, the Word. His central question in the Greek word, logos, answers the question who is Jesus by portraying Jesus as the central figure of human history and the central focus of God’s eternal plan. John’s Gospel is introducing Jesus as the Word (in Greek, logos) and due to the fact that he primarily wrote to the Jews drawing upon familiar Semitic words and concepts that both Jews and Gentiles would understand and reason with the concept that Jesus is the Son of God and that believing they would have eternal life in His name. John’s Gospel goes beyond the Jews and Gentiles normal understanding of the Word, and introduces them to Jesus Christ. John presents the reality of divinity that Jesus is God. And that he was with God in the creation of the world and defines Jesus Christ as the principle of God active in the creation. Also, Jesus was part of the continuous structuring of the cosmos, which is revealed in the divine plan of salvation to man. Hence, this underlines the basic Christian doctrine of the preexistence of Jesus.

    B. Furthermore, in detailing the historicity of the Word, Christian theologians, to this day, still debate whether the Divine Being and the Word (logos) are analogous, synonymous, and distinct. The beliefs of some historians and Christian Groups are outlined as follows:Heraclitus, sixth-century philosopher, his idea of the logos in Greek is who discerns cosmic, process logos analogous to the reasoning power in man. Later, the Stoics. Philosophers who followed the teaching of the thinker Zeno of Citium (fourth and third century BC) defined the logos as active rational and spiritual principles that permeated all¹ reality. They called the logos providence, nature, god, and the soul of the gods, which are composed of many logoi that are contained in the universal Philo of Alexandria, a first century AD Jewish philosopher who taught that the logos was the intermediary between God and the cosmos. This being both the agent of creation and the agent through which the Human mind can comprehend God. Plato, fourth century BC philosopher, says, "The logoi were both immanent in the world and at the same time transcendent divine mind."² Therefore, in response to the philosopher’s beliefs, the author of the Gospel According to John, which use this philosophical expression that emphasizes the redemptive character of the person of Jesus Christ, whom John described as the logos, who
