About this ebook

Fall in and out of love on February 2022. Wallow in existential angst on July 2022. Reflect on death and the passage of time on November 2022.

Spice your haiku tastes with variety for the year 2022 with this 365 haiku collection, a first for Ace Z. Alba, a Filipino author. He originally made this collection for his Medium.com blog. Eventually, he found it fitting to bring it all together for you to enjoy in advance.

His haikus range from the visually striking, to the contemplative, to downright horrifying. Specialties of this collection include the May 2022 collection, featuring his hometown, Legazpi City; as well as the October 2022 collection, which twists tales of cryptids around the world.

A must have for haiku enthusiasts seeking new flavor for their reading lists.

365 Days of Haiku, 2022 - Ace Alba

    1.

    I count prayer beads

    Like the bamboo clicking

    Against the pond stones

    2.

    Time to rake the leaves

    While people crowding cities

    Pass this temple by

    3.

    Should I even step

Out to chase their neon screens

    Be lost, out of peace?

    4.

    The old priest once young

Walked free and wild with his peers

    He strayed, found himself.

    5.

    Raked leaves in a pile

Above, one hangs on a branch

    Waiting not to fall

    6.

    Drizzle covered the

    Rice fields, cold and harvested

    The snow would not come

    7.

    She runs on alleys

Clutching tight her purse and phone

    Hides from her shadows

    8.

    He wags his tail at

The door all day waiting for

    His friend’s warm embrace

    9.

    His stomach grumbles

He growls, he sleeps, He will come.

    Another day comes.

    10.

    The boy used to play

    Outside, stomping the puddles

    Singing with the rain

    11.

    Bees no longer buzz

    And hover on wild meadows

    No pollen, no spring

    12.

    Waking up to see

The sun, I saw the night still

    Awake and grumbling

    13.

    The cactus joins her

    In waiting for customers

    The wind rings the chimes.

    14.

    Break time for the road

He naps. A car thundered through

    A dream drifts away

    15.

    On the floor priest sleeps

    Books open, worn down, scribbled,

    For the wind to read

    16.

    The breeze yearned to learn

    They stole the paper away

    Teach themselves his words

    17.

    Afternoon, birds cheer

The girl throwing stones at the

    Sleeping monstrous lake

    18.

    Door opens. A friend

Walks by to chatter the noon

    Coin box still empty

    19.
