      In the year 2249, Odile is a college girl in the big city, with a kink for aliens and a regular train commute in a capital city that swarms with alien diplomats…and human diplomats en route to alien missions. Peter West is that kind, slowly growing tentacles under his handmade Savile Row suits. Their affair gets hot, and then—when Odile becomes pregnant with his eggs—it gets serious.

      "You’ll need to come back in six weeks," said the head guard at the experimental facility where Peter had his tank. The guard was frowning at my midsection as I pulled my dress back on.

      "You might pass the…material on your own, he said. While using the toilet, you understand. If it isn’t voided, incubation might take place. Cross-species like this, sometimes nothing happens, but…"

      I wasn’t ashamed and I wasn’t afraid of them; I shrugged. We’ll just see what I do in six weeks.

      I thought that meant I had six weeks to decide what to do.
