    PREFACE

    My tipping point . . .

    I couldn’t look further than where I was – stuck, grieving, and just plain old, sick, and tired. People I spoke to had the same emotions everywhere I looked, and conversations started becoming draining and emotionally taxing.

    Now I know better.

    I was taught to be kind to myself all of my life.

    So when I got to the reason that I was entertaining these emotions, it hit me like a ton of bricks. It made me want to get these noises out of my head. This confirmed that I needed to change my outlook and move on – that means only forward.

    When you see things differently, you take action differently . . .

    Kindness to yourself is key, and it’s your inner greatness.

    I lost my mother, my absolute inspiration, role model, and cheerleader. My mama passed during the early stages of the COVID pandemic. As the chaos engulfed the world and travel came to a halt, I never had the opportunity to say goodbye, couldn’t go to the funeral, and was just devastated. Many of us can probably relate to this.

    However, this is why I wrote this book – because my mama left me with her legacy of always keeping it real and, most of all, being human, being kind.

    She would always say, ‘Kindness is your inner greatness.’

    So I took all the lessons and created a diary of sorts. These are little takeaways on the most significant asset in our lives – our minds. Things don’t just fall from the sky and land in your lap; we have to make the best of what we have, never losing sight of where we came from. This grounds us.

    Something that will always stay true to us and be our backbone is our spirituality. Be grateful for everything you have achieved, own it, and don’t underplay it. We are the backup plan, having faith in ourselves, keeping it real, staying human with the mindset that we can reframe, regroup, and make positive thoughts become things!

    Are you conscious of the conversations that you have with yourself almost every minute that you are awake? We try so hard to make an impression on others, yet we talk to ourselves like we are our own worst enemy.

    So here we are, creating that masterpiece of who we are and where we want to be! Let’s start
