About this ebook

Graveyard fae Perron Morneau arrives at Crimson Moon Hollow with a dual purpose.

To reacquaint himself with the only woman he ever really loved, butterfly shifter, Lulu Garnier. Lulu was the woman who once saved his life.

At the same time, he plans long-awaited revenge on his first wife, Tullie LaCroix, who is at the resort to marry her long-time love, Neyla Bennett.

Decades earlier, Perron was cast out of the Paris catacombs where he owned and operated a successful mushroom farm. When a virus raged through the catacombs, Perron was infected and cast out. Tullie immediately sold the mushroom farm, took the money, migrated to the surface, and began her life anew, believing Perron to be dead.

Now, Perron must tread a fine line to keep his past life and current plan from Lulu.

When his revenge is nearly complete, whose relationship will still be standing? Will his blind thirst to revenge the past destroy his future with Lulu, the woman he really loves?

    ALL ABOUT NATALIE-NICOLE BATES

    CHAPTER ONE

    Bad things would soon happen.

    Very bad things.

And it was going to be glorious.

Perri Morneau stepped outside of the taxi and took off his sunglasses as the taxi driver removed his baggage from the trunk of the taxi. His baggage was deposited on the sidewalk and whisked away to reception.

It was only March, but the evil sun was in the full light mode above him. God, how he hated the sun. Thankfully, the weather wasn't hot yet, just mild weather where you only needed a light jacket or sweater during the day and perhaps a coat to keep warm at night when you were out and about.

    Crimson Moon Hideaway.

A five-star getaway for all types of the magically and paranormally inclined beings to escape to for a vacation of a lifetime. A place to mingle with others of the otherworldly persuasion and not have to deal with being the minority in a world made up of mostly humans.

This was the perfect place to settle his long-simmering plan of revenge.

After that plan was put into motion, he could finally relax for the first time in who knew how many decades of his long life and spend some much-needed time catching up with the only woman he ever loved.

Circumstances had separated them, and it took so long to find her again and reconnect.

Bless the moons for the internet, or he may have never found his Lulu again. His butterfly.

    His beautiful butterfly.

The only woman who truly cared for him except for his beloved mother, and she was now long deceased. He missed his mother, and he knew she would have not approved of what had happened to his life since she lost hers.

Now wasn't the time to dwell on her death, that, too, would be revenged.

The valet waited for him to make his way to the entrance of the main building of Crimson Moon Hideaway.

The lobby featured exposed redwood throughout. The focal point being an enormous, exquisite four-sided fireplace surrounded by plush chairs. Above, chandeliers twinkled like tiny, bright stars.

He walked to the left and found the reception desk, which was also made of redwood.

A lovely-looking woman dressed in a sharp black skirt, a crisp white shirt, and a soft patterned vest greeted Perri with a warm smile. Welcome to Crimson Moon Hideaway! I am Susannah.

Susannah's hair was to her waist and platinum in color. Her eyes were lilac. Her skin was alabaster. Perri wasn't very adept at recognizing the differences in magical and paranormal folks, that came from spending so much of his life underground in the Paris catacombs, where he rarely saw any other beings than graveyard fae, which was what he was. There was also mushroom fae that worked the many thriving mushroom farms that operated deep in the catacombs.

His best guess was Susannah was some type of Angel. Perhaps a Star Angel. He wasn't sure, it was just a vibe he picked up from the woman. Regardless, she was quite attractive. He was partial to women with the palest of skin.

    Like he remembered Lulu's skin.

    Pale and perfect.

Just thinking about Lulu caused a delightful feeling that danced over his skin. His lips spread into a smile. It all felt so foreign to him that he unconsciously raised his fingers to his lips to be sure he was really smiling. It had been so long since he had smiled or even felt a twinge of happiness.

My name is Perron Morneau. I have a reservation.

Susannah typed some information into the computer and then looked up. Yes, Mr. Morneau, everything is ready for you.

Excellent. Could you please tell me if my friend has arrived yet? Miss Louise Garnier?

    She typed some more.

Not as yet. Miss Garnier is due to arrive shortly though. Would you like to leave her a message? I can add it to her reservation if you'd like.

Yes, please. Could you just let her know that Perri has arrived and give her my room information and number?

Absolutely, Mr. Morneau. Miss Garnier will be in the suite next to you as you requested. She then proceeded to type a bit more. All done. I will call for a bellhop to take you to your accommodation.

Suddenly he needed to know if the object of his revenge was here. His hand closed into a tight fist that he directed all his anger into. Just the thought of that woman made his blood boil with hate.

Before you do so, could you also check on another guest?

    Sure.

Tullie Lacroix? She's getting married at the resort this week.

Click, click, click of the keyboard sounded out.

Yes, Miss Lacroix and her fiancée Neyla Bennett are already here in anticipation of their wedding. Would you like to leave them a message, too?

No, no, but thank you. I don't want to bother them at such a busy time. I'll see them soon enough.

    Very good, Sir.

She pressed a button and a young man appeared almost immediately. A shifter of some type, Perri guessed. He had a friendly grin, light hair, and the unusual attribute of heterochromia – two different colored eyes – one blue, and one green. Much like the pitcher for the New York Mets, Max Scherzer, and actors Mila Kunis, Simon Pegg, and Dan Aykroyd also shared. Many people mistakenly believed the late great David Bowie also had this condition, but his condition was a blown pupil from an accident, not heterochromia.

This is Mr. Morneau, please show him to the Redemption Creek Suite, she told the bellhop and then turned to Perri.
