Chapter 1:
Beginning to the End
It was a beautiful breezy summer day in the suburban neighborhood. Justice stayed in the middle of a cul-de-sac, where the children of the neighborhood played.
Justice looked out of the window from the living room of his home.
Justice listened to his television play while waiting for his show to resume from a commercial break. Justice had his front door open and the front screen door closed but unlocked so he could get a breeze through the house. Justice stayed alone in his three-bed two-bath house. He was amused as he saw the children play. He cared about the kids and tried to keep an eye on them to ensure they were safe. Justice felt like he was a guardian to the innocent children.
As Justice watched through his window, he saw two police detectives drive to the front driveway of his house in a blue Buick. One of the detectives was wearing a gray three-piece suit with black shoes.
He looked very distinguished.
The other detective was wearing a leather jacket, a Detroit Lions t-shirt, blue jeans, with a pair of all-white shoes.
Justice thought of Eddie Murphy when he saw the second detective’s attire. The detectives walked to Justice’s door.
They saw Justice through his screen door, sitting facing the window watching the kids play. One of the detectives knocked on Justice’s entryway, and Justice motioned them to come in. The two detectives walked into his home. Justice’s television was playing, and The City News station flashed a breaking news story. The news stated, Five killed in an abandoned building.
Justice stared at the TV and drifted off to his younger days.
Chapter 2:
Justice Introvert or Extrovert
Justice was a teacher at Saginaw Public Schools. He worked with children of all age groups, and he was popular with most of the kids in the school. He was a funny, joking kind of person who did not take matters too seriously. Justice would work all week and party Friday through Saturday night. Justice would go to the local club, drink, and chase women with his friends.
Justice had a few friends who he would hang with. Derrick, his best friend since first grade, was the sensible friend out of the group. Derrick would make the final decisions on how crazy they should get.
Des was the friend who he bumped head with often. Des and Justice would argue over the simplest things. Once, Des and Justice argued who would win between Hulk and Superman. They went back and forth, giving examples, and researched online to win the argument.
After about an hour, Derrick stepped in and ended the argument and then made them move on to something different.
Jay was the party-goer friend. Justice and Jay would go to the gym and work out together, and trash talk with each other for a couple of hours. Justice and Jay would talk about other people working out in the gym. They would talk about other’s lifting forms and body improvements and give some of them nicknames. Their favorite person to talk about was No Progress. No Progress’s real name was Samson. Samson would come to the gym every day. Jay and Justice did not see any progress from working out and so Jay named him No Progress. Jay was also the friend who had the full hook-up for girls.
Justice would always ask Jay to hook him up with one of his female friends. Justice was shy when he was not drinking alcohol with the ladies, so Jay looked out for him.
Justice’s main focus was to forget his problems by drinking alcohol and having fun. He had some dark-seeded issues that he had not come to terms with yet. It was like he possessed a party demon. He was a different person when he drank alcohol.—He would be more outgoing; he would talk and mingle around the club, offering shots to anyone who would take them; he knew all the latest dance moves and would dance and drink all night; he would talk with any woman who would give him attention. Justice was not too good with courting the ladies, but he would try his best.
Justice would sing to the women, knowing he was tone-deaf. Some women liked the corniness of his wooing, but most ignored him, like a wino begging for change.
Justice would be the life of the party until he would get belligerent and start a fight with whomsoever. Then, his friends Des, Jay, and Derrick would calm him down, and then Justice would forget about the altercation and continue to party.
Chapter 3:
Terrance and Justice
When Justice taught, he would be in rapport with most youths and adults, by interacting with everyone. Justice had a student named Terrance, who reminded Justice of himself as a child. Terrance acted, talked, and looked like Justice as a child. Terrance had a vibrant energy; he was the class clown and always made others laugh and feel good. All the teachers thought he was entertaining, but they were also strict with him during classes. Terrance was an intelligent child. He had many friends—kids and grown-ups alike.
One day, Terrance was mocking Justice before he walked into the classroom. Justice heard Terrance from the hallway. Justice slowly walked up while the other kids were laughing at Terrance. Terrance had his back to Justice when Justice entered the class. Each kid stopped giggling when they saw Justice, but Terrance did not
