The Poems of Junior Clark

About this ebook
My uncle, Junior Clark wrote when he had something to say. I don't know when he started. From reading through his work, I'd guess his earliest poem was written when he was in his late fifties or early sixties. His topics are varied. The common theme is his own strong feelings. He wrote about things that mattered to him, Family, People, Places, Nature, God. Some of his pieces move me to tears. They are all Junior's words. I just assembled them in this volume. I hope you enjoy them as much I as did.
Mel Clark
Mel Clark writes about personal finance, retirement planning, and martial arts. His blue-collar union family parents raised him and his two sisters in a wonderful environment for children. However, the family was always in debt, always making payments, and never saving. As a result, Mel feels called to share hard-won money lessons with working folks. He wants them to understand they can benefit from saving and investing. They don’t have to be rich to achieve financial independence. He and his lovely wife Linda live near Virginia’s Blue Ridge Parkway. They enjoy ballroom dancing, the occasional camping trip and a silly game called Bananagrams. Mel is graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

The Poems of Junior Clark - Mel Clark
Introduction
Welcome to this volume of poems penned by Junior Lee Clark. We hope, that by venturing into these, you will have a snapshot of the man he was.
Junior Lee Clark was born on October 12, 1927. In his lifetime he saw and participated in a lot of history. He grew up during the Greta Depression and the economic hardships following until the beginning of WWII.
Junior joined the US Navy and served aboard the battleship USS Missouri. The Missouri was where the Japanese Emperor Hirohito signed the Instrument of Surrender
, effectively ending the War in the Pacific.
Returning home after the war, he set about starting a career and a family. He and his wife, Ella, produced two children. Their son, Jerry, was eldest, followed by a daughter they named Terry.
Junior Lee Clark was a man of many interests. He stayed engaged and active in the business and enjoyment of life until his final and fairly rapid decline.
Among his interests were genealogy. Spending many hours looking through records at the historic Fincastle Courthouse in Virginia’s Botetourt County, he traced his ancestors back as far as possible.
His other interests included history, hunting, all things outdoors, woodworking, and of course, his family.
To really know a man, you must first learn what he loved. The loves of his life were his family, his church, and his God.
Junior was always there for his family. He enjoyed his children and the children they produced as time went by. He didn’t just watch, he participated. He coached girls’ softball when his grand daughters Layci and Kyndall played. He looked forward to hunting with grandsons Landon and Seth Cullen. He made himself available, understanding that spending his time with them was the greatest gift he could give them.
He supported his wife in her interests, going to flea markets, yard sales, shopping, church activities, beach vacations, and other activities they could share.
Junior Lee Clark loved his country. Exemplified by his military service. He was an unabashed supporter and enthusiastic cheerleader and supporter of this land. It grieved him to see many of the issues that brought unrest to the country
