Don E Scott is an entrepreneur, former charity trustee, C-level executive, and Diversity Ambassador for the UK Investment industry. He is Chairman of SOAK Fashion and a Non-executive director. As a charity trustee of Elevation Networks, he oversaw a massive growth period over 5 years to form one of the largest UK African-Caribbean student networks. He was a director at a Big 4 accounting firm and has worked in the UK and Ireland with over 15 years of operational experience in the financial services industry. Mr Scott is an Elder in the Church of God in Christ, UK. He is married and has lived in the UK for the majority of his life, having moved from Kingston, Jamaica. In his spare time and before COVID, he enjoyed traveling.

I have always wanted to write a book and share this story. My wish is to inspire people to aspire to greatness. It is my intention that as you read this book, you will not only enjoy reading but also learn something new. In addition, I want you to think of the various negative stereotypes about people who are at a disadvantage because of their skin colour, heritage, and social class, and how you can use this book’s information to overcome your challenges peacefully. I would love you to also consider the goodness of God that is chasing us down in every situation

Chapter 1 - The Foundation

Life offers us many opportunities - some disguised as challenges with lots of lessons to learn if we choose to.

To understand how God can help someone overcome in life, we need to understand the foundation of their story.

Junior came from Jamaica as a 5-year-old to the UK, in a single-parent family. Junior did not know his dad or family on his dad’s side, and his mum was his only family for over ten years. He was entirely dependent on his mum, and she was integral in building his early value system of hard work and nurturing him in doing the right things. Always a God-fearing woman, and even more so over time. She was and still is a prayer warrior and very loving woman and mother and did her best, to support Junior, but made it very clear that he had to go to university and she was very strict.

You must have a degree so that you can make something of yourself in the future, she would always say as she emphasised why he needed to go to university. Her gaze remained solemn and fixed on Junior as she said these words. Her intense stare always made him look away while nodding in agreement, but he always left her satisfied by simply nodding in agreement.
