Dark Days and Dangerous Nights - Jack Freestone

    Blind

    ––––––––

    We are a ridiculous collection

    Of beautiful and ugly

We don’t know what we are

    Or where we came from

    We pretend not to know

    Why we use violence

    Why religious people

    Kill those

    Not in the same clan

    Why a man

    Beats his wife

    Why women

    Have rape fantasies

    And husbands want new girls

    Just a lot of noise

    And misunderstood thoughts

    As we occasionally

    Bump into walls

    Waiting to be Discovered

    A drunk girl squats

    On my overgrown grave

    Unaware

    Of my life longer despair

    Her lip service

    Gives me hope

    And she even lets

    A ripper fart go

    Into the air

    All power and pride

    As she considers

    The beauty of the moon

    My cold white bones

    Rattle in expectation

    Of a slow golden
