INTRODUCTION
My Dear’s true life story begins when she was born in 1914. Her story involves females who were much more than the average black wom a n living in the 1900s . T his story involves wom e n who overcame adversity , more particularly My Dear , who was able to beat all odds. My Dear witnessed the beginning of the last century and is currently watching this century with all its advance s and changes. My Dear has truly help change the world and has history to share like no other. My Dear is a living legend by all rights.
This is the story of my G reat A unt Odessa Johnson " My Dear."
My Dear has been on my mind for months , and I ’ve often though t about her even more so because of her fast approaching 100 th birthday. My Dear is my Grandmother Millie ’s baby sister. Millie was my father Hartrell ’s mother who lived 92 years. Honie was My Dear’s middle sister who lived 96 years. I hope some of their longevity is passed down from them to me . On a Saturday morning I asked Ray if he wanted to take a ride to Fresno and spend the weekend with M y Dear and her daughter Bettye . H e said ok when do you want to leave?
By the way , Ray Clark is my husband who My Dear would refer to Ray as a kind and gentle man . Ray love s M y Dear just as much as I d o.
I will never forget, it was a beautiful summer day , Saturday, September 1, 2012 to be exact , when Ray and I called the family to let them know we would be coming to visit with My Dear and the family .
