Preface
It was only a wish by many of us to bring and do our work at the comfort of our home. We are attracted to the idea of ending our suffering from the crippling stress that we are experiencing at work. We fantasize about the possibilities of managing our work in an environment where we can be with our loved ones anytime we need them. In just a matter of time, a lockdown in Wuhan, China, and a few deaths from the new virus in 2019, that wish came true and became a global practice by industries in 2020. I am not romanticizing the tragedies that the Covid-19 brought in our lives; it was unfortunate that the dream of working from home came into reality since social/physical distancing must be implemented. However, it is a reality now, and we need to get used to the new work setup.
I came up with this book because of my strong desire to help my fellow workers from different industries who are experiencing difficulties adjusting to the work-from-home setup. I lived the pains of adjusting and even fell into a few pitfalls having no idea what's coming in my way. It is true that experience is the best teacher.
I discovered the solutions to problems while also experiencing them. Most of the solutions are surprisingly quite simple as they are readily available in my immediate resources or just a matter of changing perspectives. It is an utter joy for me to humbly share these solutions with some of my closest friends at work, and they deemed them useful. Through this book, I am now sharing them with you.
It appears that the Covid-19 pandemic is not ending soon despite the billion-dollar effort of the world's governments and of the World Health Organization to come up with vaccines and a direct cure. The pandemic remains a threat to countries' economies and businesses. To save businesses from going completely unprofitable, companies resorted to work from home setup for their employees whose responsibilities are crucial for the backbone of their operation. Apple, Microsoft, and Verizon are a few of the many companies that maximized the work-from-home setup for their employees to continue with their operations. Even companies providing service online, such as Shopify and Upwork, survived and saved their businesses by having their corporate workers work from home.
While implementing remote work seems an easy solution to save businesses, it is an approach that is composed of challenges that can end one's career and work if an employee is not prepared. I always see working from home as an ideal work setup, but the adjustments needed and the inevitable challenges attached equate to a different kind of war that I need to win over. When I virtually meet with clients for a big project and suddenly my infant niece cries incessantly, it feels like a hundred bombs dropped on my location that could potentially damage my rapport with the clients. In a worse turn of events, I might lose the project. The sample scenario, which is actually light as compared to others, is one of the many realities of the work from home setup.
I won't boast of my expertise; flashing my achievements and accomplishments won't help anyone, and we're not in that era anymore. I am here to lend a hand by sharing with you my realizations as someone who survived, and continuously surviving, the work from home game. I gladly share with you the simple, practical, and also complex solutions I came to know and applied to ease the difficulties of adjusting to the work from home setup. We are in a time where we need each other to survive. That is why after reading this book, I encourage you to continue our connection on Discord and in our social media accounts. I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and comments. For sure, I will also learn new things from you and discuss them over on Discord.
For now, I will leave you so that you can read the book.

The Weapons
At-ten-tion!
We, soldiers
from various industries, are marching on in the new territory that will serve as our new battlefield - our homes. As long as the COVID-19 pandemic remains a dominant threat to our health, our homes will remain the ideal workstation for most of us.
You must not be deceived by the convenience
that the new battlefield offers to us. It’s one of the many traps that must be avoided at all costs. Sure, home is a familiar place, but it can also be a hostile domain when it comes to a work setting.
Offices or workplaces prompt people to abide by the set of rules provided by the company to maintain discipline and uphold work ethics. Aside from the set of rules, employees can focus on their work in the office because they feel that problems at home stay at home.
Our homes are meant to be our resting place. When at home, you can do whatever you want. However, our homes are also the place where most of our frustrations come from. This polarizing reality of our homes can mean disaster once we move our work in our home space as our respective home and work routines will clash with one another.
