The Mystical Diamond

The Tale of Supernatural Quintuplets

Quintuplets Astraea, Sage, Cristiano, Alaric, and Zaina Whiteman were placed in an orphanage and divided at birth for their own protection. As their lives all headed in separate directions, they remained bounded by blood, memories, and their supernatural abilities.

Astraea, the oldest, has the ability to read and control minds. Sage, the compassionate, is gifted with incredible speed and strength. Cristiano, the wisest, possesses the power of invisibility and can see into the future. Zaina, the youngest, can levitate with telekinesis.

Alaric's life, however, takes a different turn. Anger and a painful childhood force him to find peace in the woods. But being able to control all the elements and communicate with animals make him a prime target for an old man who convinces him to steal the mystical diamond to enhance his powers and destroy the world.

To accomplish this, he'll need Zaina's help. Reunited, they are as powerful as their birth parents feared, but that's also their only chance of saving the world. Can the remaining siblings bring Alaric and Zaina back to the good side and prevent disaster, or will the pressure force them to part ways yet again?

Powers Unleashed

Nearly twenty years after the quintuplets recovered the Mystical Diamond and saved the world from the evil powers of Alaric Whiteman, he's back for revenge, bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever to meet his goal.

However, attempting to take over the world once again is no small feat, entrancing Astraea to the side of evil and turning her into a formidable opponent. The remaining siblings, Zaina, Sage, and Cristiano find themselves in the unenviable position of saving the world while keeping their family safe from harm.

Will the quintuplets succeed this time, or will this power struggle sever their family ties for good, in Powers Unleashed?

    Chapter 1

    The Birth of Quintuplets

The snowflakes trickled from the sky on the freezing morning of January 2, 2011. Five children, quintuplets, were born on that cold January morning in the small town of Trinkets. Snow drifted from the sky, and chilly winds brought upon more snowflakes, adding to the blanket of whiteness that covered the city. Branches knocked on the window of the hospital room, and the winds roared outside.

The parents, Juniper and Darcy Whiteman, excited about the birth of their five children, didn’t mind the cold. In fact, their five beautiful children felt like a warm miracle on that cold January morning. Two girls and three boys, all healthy and happy. Little smiles appeared on their faces, and not a single one cried.

Darcy Whiteman looked down at them, smiling at each one with joy.

You all have my heart, she said, smiling. She looked over at Juniper. Aren’t they beautiful? she whispered.

Absolutely, he responded, his smile growing bigger and bigger. He picked up the two girls and held them close. He couldn’t stop smiling, even as he looked at his wife. It’s time to take them home. Are you ready?

Yes, she laughed. I can’t wait to show them our beautiful home. She sighed, All five of them are just so full of light, she exclaimed with joy as tears formed in her eyes. I can’t wait to meet them when they’re older.

I don’t want to think of that just yet, Juniper answered with a laugh. Why don’t we focus on getting them home first?

Of course, Darcy giggled as she leaned down to kiss one of the boys on the forehead.

The parents carefully bundled up their beautiful children while the nurse stood by and watched them pack up their belongings. She gave them a list of instructions, reminders for their checkups in just a few months, and said goodbye to each new baby.

Once they had everything they needed, Juniper and Darcy thanked the nurse for all her help.

She smiled, It’s the best part of my job after all, she said. I love getting to meet all the new babies and all the new lives that come into our special world.

Have you met anyone as special as our children? Darcy asked.

I’m supposed to say no, Nurse Viola started, but these children seem extra special. I’m not sure what it is, but I’m sure they’ll accomplish great things.

The parents grinned at each other. We have that same feeling too, Juniper responded. Maybe we will find out more once we get home.

Nurse Viola nodded, still smiling. When the new parents were ready to go, she held two of the newborns and helped them to their car. The car was close enough and still sitting in the parking garage, where the huge concrete walls shielded them from the wind and cold.

She helped Juniper and Darcy Whiteman buckle the newborns into their car seats and grinned.

She then turned to the new parents and nodded before looking back at the babies all tucked in warm and snug.

She turned to the new parents again. Congratulations again, she said. They are all very healthy, and you will definitely have your hands full. Good luck!

    Thank you, Darcy answered.

She felt like she could melt with all the joy inside her heart.

The nurse helped them to their car. One by one, they buckled the quintuplets into their car seats, watching them stir in their sleep. None of them cried at the cold, and they all seemed content and happy. Their parents then climbed into the car, thanked the nurse again, said their goodbyes, and left the hospital behind in the snow.

A dark and shadowy figure standing by the road watched the car drive away, squinting as the new family passed by. He faded away into the snow, neither of the parents noticing him.

As they continued to drive through the city, Darcy turned around in her seat and told the five children all about their new home, and how excited she was for them to see their rooms. She didn’t mind that their tiny ears could not comprehend what she was saying; she was still excited to share their new lives with them.

She proudly spoke about the colors and themes they chose for each child, and how their rooms would be unique to them as they grew older and older. The more she told them the stories, the more she could imagine their lives all together, eager to be with her kids for as long as they needed her. She grew more and more excited the closer they got, just bursting with happiness.

The happiness remained in their car as the new family made their way home through the oncoming blizzard. The car swerved in all directions as the tires slipped against the icy ground, and Darcy held onto all the children as Juniper struggled to keep the car on the road.

When they finally arrived at their house, the father pulled into the garage and closed it behind him. Wind roared outside, and a few snowflakes desperately tried to get in under the door.

Juniper harrumphed. Wait here, he told his wife. I’ll take the kids inside.

No, Darcy insisted. I want to help.

    You’re in no condition!

    I want to help!

After several seconds, Juniper finally gave in and, together, the parents grabbed the five kids and walked inside. They strolled down the hall and into the nursery, where the galaxy lights greeted them like magic.

Darcy laid the two girls in the cribs on one side of the room, and Juniper took the three boys to the other. The mother pulled colorful yarn out from her crafting closet, tying each one around the babies’ ankles.

Are you afraid you’ll forget who’s who? the father asked jokingly.

Just a little worried, she replied. But I think the colors suit them.

She laughed and pulled out five different colors, along with her scissors. She cut off five strands of yarn, holding them in her hand. Once she finished, she put the yarn and scissors away and moved towards her sleeping angels.

Taking a moment with each child, Darcy and Juniper gave them their names and tied the yarn around them, stopping by one crib at a time.

Astraea and Sage, the mother said. She tied a piece of yellow yarn onto Astraea’s ankle, and a piece of green onto Sage’s. The two oldest by only a few minutes.

They’ll be so protective of the others, Juniper smiled beside her. I can just see it already.

Me too, Darcy said with a laugh.

And then we have Cristiano, Alaric, and Zaina, Juniper announced next. Zaina’s the youngest, isn’t she?

Yes, Darcy confirmed. She tied a piece of orange yarn onto Cristiano’s ankle, a purple one onto Alaric’s and, finally, a piece of blue yarn onto Zaina’s. Now, we can tell them apart, she proclaimed as she stepped back in admiration.

The father grinned with his wife. What a clever mom you are. He sighed and looked around the room at his five slumbering children. We’ll always love them, he said. I can’t imagine our lives without them.

I know. Me too, the mother responded.

They both laughed quietly and turned to look at each other. They shared a quiet kiss and slowly left the nursery, leaving on the stargazing night light and soft music playing.

Looking at each other, the happy new parents smiled and said at the same time, Our favorite five!

That was the name they settled on, and they happily cared for their children over the next few months. The Whiteman family couldn’t be happier, no matter what came their way.

Little did they know, just outside their house, the shadowy figure waited in the darkness. He smiled and took a few steps back into the trees. His plan was working perfectly and, soon, he would have all five kids to call his own. He pulled out a notepad, wrote down their names, and disappeared back into the trees, leaving the happy family alone once again.

A few months had gone by, and Juniper slowly began to realize their favorite five were different. So much different than most children, and even the parents had no idea what would come next. It happened as they watched their children grow, crawling around at four months.

They always knew their kids were special, some of them already starting to babble full words, but they could’ve never predicted just how special they would be. They happily played with each other, and there was never a dull moment in the household. After a rough bath time, they fed all five infants together.

Darcy sat in her chair at the dining room table with Cristiano as he reached for his bottle.

We have some smart kids! she cheered. She handed him his bottle, and he took it in his hands. I’ve never seen babies develop this quickly!

You’re right, Juniper agreed. He shook his head. What are we going to do?

Just keep loving them, like we’ve always done, Darcy insisted. We’ll work this out together.

None of the parenting books or classes prepared us for this, Juniper said worriedly, listening to a horror story Zaina was telling her siblings.

He rocked the little girl in her purple onesie, and she reached up and grabbed his nose with a smile. He sighed and hugged the little one, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

Then they saw Sage, who climbed out of his crib and reappeared in the kitchen, even after his mother had laid him down. He crawled so much faster than the others, as Darcy collapsed in shock while watching him through the baby monitor.

After that night, the rest of their children started to show more signs of their unique abilities. Astraea was able to sense many of the thoughts her parents were thinking, even before her parents. Sometimes, Darcy even found herself giving Astraea something she shouldn’t have.

Alaric was always trying to crawl and play outside, making the grass grow faster than ever before, and when he sneezed, fire came out of his nose. Whenever Cristiano cried, he seemed to disappear completely, leaving his parents worried sick as they looked everywhere for him, and Zaina, her father once found her floating just a few inches above her crib.

Every day became more and more chaotic as the two parents tried their best to care for their five incredible and supernatural children.

As months passed by, the more their children’s abilities grew, the more their parents grew worried. In just a year, the kids were already speaking in full sentences and channeling their unique powers to play and entertain each other and themselves.

It didn’t take long for Juniper and Darcy to both realize that the happiness, love, and joy they had felt a year ago was slowly fading away. Happiness was soon replaced with concern, and love was replaced with doubt. Questions poured in, and neither parent knew who to ask.

Doctors would think they were crazy, and anyone else would think they were lying. So, instead, the parents consulted comic books and superhero movies, hoping to find something on how to raise unique and powerful children.

Still, with no luck, their hopes started to fade away too, when the comics they looked to had no answers. Frustration set in, and both their mother and father were at a loss for ideas.

What else could they do for their children with magical powers?

One night, after a chaotic chase to track down all five children after dinner, the parents were finally able to get them all to bed. Their exhausted mother collapsed on the living room couch, picking up one of the many toys scattered throughout the house. She sighed and looked towards their bedroom.

Each day I learn something new about my children, she said tiredly. They really are special.

I know, Juniper responded, joining his wife on the couch. What are we going to do?

What do you mean? Darcy asked. We’ll keep taking care of them, just like we always have. She smiled. I know we can do this.

Juniper shook his head. He sighed and looked at his
