About this ebook

For a season, my dreams seemed humanly impossible. There were times I would daydream about life without challenges. Then, I began to daydream about life without Christ. It didn't take long to realize with Christ in my life, each challenge would become a stepping stone to a better life. My daydreams have now become dreams that are

    My Dreams - Waverly Knight

    Chapter 1

    This chapter reveals embedded fragments of a blissful face that were, eventually, infused in broken mirrors. When I came home from my job, I would, tearfully, record information in my daily journal during the transition of my marital status. However, my career during that time was teaching Language Arts (Reading, Writing, Language, and Vocabulary) classes to middle school students and teaching poetry was very interesting.

    This use of self-therapy was an intervention to mend those fragments and allowed me to overcome obstacles that veered onto my pathway. Each day as I began my script, it was a release of all of the burdens that were obscuring my thoughts of having a good day.

    Ultimately, these challenges compelled me to write poetry instead, because I was always fascinated with poems when I was in elementary school.

    I recognized that turning my poems into narratives worked very well for me because it was an informal and, also, an enjoyable way of sharing my story and other experiences, as well, to readers of poetry.

    I, finally, published my first poetry book, Broken Mirrors, by Evania Rose (my stage name) in 2015, thirty-two years after I began writing poetry.

    EDUCATIONAL AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCES

    Adding Streaks of Sunshine

    At the end of an eventful school day,

    I had grabbed my coat and was on my merry way;

    But then I noticed what I thought were streaks of sunshine.

    I assumed it was the wrong coat, but it happened to be mine.

    I couldn’t understand the reason for this personal attack

    Upon my personal property that was hanging on the rack.

    The colors of the coat were a pretty pink and gray,

    But yellow streaks from a marker appeared

    because of one’s bad day.

    Upon investigation of this disgruntled and devious dame,

    I discovered an inexcusable mistaken identity was to blame.

    During the course of this situation, I continued to

    pursue this case.

    I allowed the guilty one a chance to meet mom face-to-face.

    As time ran out and mom was never told;

    I couldn’t let this coat case get bitterly cold.

    Contact was made and a conference was held at last,

    The guilty one admitted it and spoke up awfully fast.

    The situation was, eventually, resolved to the extent

    Where the coat was examined by the quick

    thinking of the parent.

    She immediately took charge of the fate of the coat,

    And vowed to return it cleaned or pay the price from my quote.

    The coat was undoubtedly returned in its original state.

    The yellow streaks of sunshine were allowed to dissipate.

    Finally, this ongoing coat saga came to a close;

    And the parent was appreciative for professionalism

    that I chose.

    A 23 – Hour Day

    If you’re employed during an 8-hour day;

    You should get your regular pay.

    If you work three times that hour;

    Inform your boss, you have the power

    To reduce that time to an hour less

    Or expect to be fired when you confess;

    That an hour at rest is what you need

    To continue your marathon at a regular speed.

    This breathtaking task is certainly a treat.

    It allows you to eventually get back on your feet.

    Computer Confession

    Have you seen the mouse ball that was stolen today?

    When shutting down the computer, I did it a different way.

    It was heartbreaking to know that someone would do

    An unkind act to the computer that was new.

    It wasn’t difficult to find that devious thief.

    My innermost thoughts led me to this belief.

    The confession emerged from a written letter,

    A day later, which was so much better.

    It was said that this was a difficult case to crack.

    But I vowed, I would get my mouse ball back.

    I used every opportunity to allow a lesser offense,

    Because the perpetrator’s choice was to speak in self-defense.

    An unexpected surprise appeared in front of

    my classroom door;

    He confessed that morning of lost hours of

    sleep that night before.

    The mouse ball epidemic had attacked him, too

    So, his confession was one I didn’t have a clue.

    Each of these cases ended on a positive note.

    The verbal confession and letter the first one wrote.

    They vowed never to do this trick again

    Because with a loss of credibility and sleep, one can never win.

    The Substitute Teacher

    Substitute teachers are always on call

    To cover a class and police the hall.

    Some students may think they are in for a treat

    When the teacher is out and needs to get off her feet.

    But lo and behold, this sub is unique.

    She is some kind
