About this ebook

Not everyone gets love. At least this is what Steven Crass believed. In his line of work as a CIA agent, love was a hazard. It was a distraction and he wanted nothing to do with it. It required the one thing he could not have in anyone and that was trust.

When he is put on a special assignment to solve the murder of a powerful business man, with a stunning new agent, Stellar Waters, his theory on love is tested. Off to a rocky start at first due to their similar personalities, they are forced into a partnership neither of them want or need. Will they be able to put aside their differences and work together? Or will things take a turn that neither see coming?

I’M SORRY, but I don’t think this is going to work out, Steven said, standing up and tucking his chair back under the table. He gazed down at the woman he was leaving, her mouth hanging open like some kind of strange marine animal with a question mark drawn in the void. You just spent the last fifteen minutes talking about why you think your dog needs to be let loose on national television. I cannot be dealing with that level of crazy.

Even as the woman gave a shriek of anger after him, Steven continued out of the restaurant and into the street. He tucked his hands in to his pockets and reasoned that maybe he could have handled the situation better. In truth, he realised, it hadn’t been the dog thing that made him leave. It was in fact the conversation before the dog thing that had made him realise that, yet again, his date was looking for all the wrong things from him. She’d said outright that she wasn’t willing to date someone for years only
