About this ebook
Get the Summary of John C. Lennox's Cosmic Chemistry in 20 minutes. Please note: This is a summary & not the original book. Original book introduction: Building on the arguments put forward in God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?, Prof John Lennox examines afresh the plausibility of a Christian theistic worldview in the light of some of the latest developments in scientific understanding. Prof Lennox focuses on the areas of evolutionary theory, the origins of life and the universe, and the concepts of mind and consciousness to provide a detailed and compelling introduction to the science and religion debate. He also offers his own reasoning as to why he continues to be convinced by a Christian approach to explaining these phenomena.

#1
The author would like to thank the many people who have helped him in his research, including his students, who helped him develop his arguments in lectures, seminars, and discussions.
#2
The author will try to objectively present both sides of the argument, atheism and theism, and show where the evidence points.
#3
The Big Questions of the existence of God and the meaning of human life cannot be answered by science.
#4
Many scientists argue that science has nothing to do with religion, and that it is simply the naturalist view that there is no God.
#5
Some of the world’s greatest minds, including those who have won Nobel Prizes, have stated that they believe in God. These include scientists like William Phillips and Richard Dawkins.
#6
Some have even gone as far as to say that the naturalistic worldview promoted by Dawkins, Hitchens, and other prominent atheists is more akin to a religion than a philosophy.
#7
The argument goes that since science has shown exponential growth, there is no need for a Creator anymore. But is that really the case. Let’s examine the history of science and see if it backs up this claim.
#8
Many people think that each new scientific discovery is another nail in God’s coffin. However, this is an extreme view that only represents a small minority of scientists.
#9
For the New Atheists, such as Richard Dawkins, a defining feature of faith is that it is not based on evidence. But the Bible, among other things, states that faith is based on evidence.
#10
Despite the prevalence of atheism in the scientific community, many still believe that it is a private matter and do not want it discussed outside of their own circles.
#11
Even some prominent scientists believe that religion and science can coexist.
#12
The triumphalist claims made by scientists about their own field are not necessarily statements about science. They may express personal beliefs, or even faith, which are fundamentally no different from the faith in God that Dawkins wishes to eradicate.
#13
The Hebrew view of the universe was different from the Greek view, and it was this view that helped foster science.
#14
Design arguments assert that if we believe in a Creator, then we should expect to find evidence of that fact in the physical world.
#15
While the Greek philosophers Xenophanes and Xenos criticized the prevailing Greek religion, they didn’t introduce anything radically new. They simply pointed out that the current religion was simply an adaptation
