Dreams of the Fearless - Khali LaBre

    CHAPTER 1

Standing at the window of his bedchamber, Malcolm caught sight of the giant, and atrocious contraption of a beast that was stomping its way through the Mayaban skyline. He watched as it clumsily bumped into the skyscrapers.

Oh, my stars! He exclaimed. Where did she get the wherewithal to build such a monster?

The beast of burden let out a blood curdling crying roar.

Malcolm watched as the beast coughed up a tiny metal ball which then launched forth out of its mouth, violently exploding like a massive firework over the city.

    POOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMWWWWW!!!

Malcolm was submerged in terror. He took the elastic on his wrist and hurriedly tied back his dreadlocks.

The maleficent queen never failed to pull the most disgusting tricks out of her haughty sleeves; however, Malcolm, her butler, never thought that she would pull anything to this caliber.

He continued to stare at the mountainous parasite as it destroyed everything in its path.

The monster was the height of the ancient, and famed building of the American Empire, which was fittingly deemed as the Empire State building at the time. It was also just as wide as at least 10 fully grown whales, with an extremely long tail the length of a moderately sized bridge, that had spikes on the end of it.

Malcolm watched as it continued to knock down buildings, thrashing its tail from left to right. The enormous tyrant had the appearance of a reptilian species, but was otherworldly, as its eyes were the same eyes that appeared on the aeroships and other properties of the Mayaban city. Gigantic eyes made of illuminated red lights, which flashed white when the creature roared, signaling another atomic attack.

"The largest, most destructive android ever to be created!" Malcolm thought to himself, quivering.

He then ran out of his room, walked briskly down the hallway before quickly opening a hidden door that led to a secret corridor within the castle.

The nefarious queen herself never bothered to come down this corridor, as it was the Servants Quarters. Malcolm, and the other maids and butlers of the castle, came here to recline and relax, when they could.  There were also rooms for washing themselves, their clothes, and eating their food. It was a very thin corridor that had beautiful, shiny oak wood paneling for walls, modest chandeliers for lighting, and white tiled floors like the rest of the castle.

The queen, for the most part, seemed to treat her servants well. They wore the finest clothes as servants, and they were well fed, despite the queen’s reputation for being so injurious. The servants were always made aware of her impulsive tendencies of lashing out at them out of her anger with something else.

Malcolm ran to his special space all the way at the back of the corridor. The other maids and butlers could barely greet him as he ran past them; they simply looked on with concern.

Malcolm had always been the weird one of the bunch, and so they thought nothing of what he might be doing, as they shook their heads and rolled their eyes.

Malcolm, now locked safely in his secret room, sat own in his chair and pulled out his communicator and began to poke at the buttons, responding to a message:

Z: DO YOU SEE WHAT I AM SEEING!?

    M: YES! I FEEL SO AWFUL! :(

Z: WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!

M: YES, BUT WHAT?! I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH!

Z: I KNOW :( ADONAI WILL GUIDE US, HAVE FAITH. YOU ARE NOBEL OF HEART.

M: AS YOU ARE. STAY TRUE.

Malcolm was in a room that protected all of his thoughts, messages, and communications from the queen. It took him five years to create and install the barrier that layered the walls and ceiling.

He realized that his thoughts could not be read through aluminum, and so he would sneak pieces into his room, bit-by-bit, to not make a scene. He also installed a new lock and key on the door, one that looked like the other doors, but only his key would unlock it.

He had to find a place to hide from that wicked queen; she always picked on him the most. She had no clue the kind of ties he actually had outside of Mayaba, the ties he had with his homeland of Shujaa.

He always feared that she actually might know, but never allowed himself to wonder the thought when she was around.

There was a knock at the door.

Malcolm double checked that his communicator was on silent, and then decided to shut it off, quickly squirreling it away in his pocket.

    Knock knock knock!

Malcolm got up, and walked to the door and opened the peephole to see who it was. A dark face was looking back at him with dark eyes.

Malcolm smiled up into his golden green hazel eyes in response, and opened the door.

Taurrus! He said welcoming the tall man.

Taurrus stood at six feet and nine inches, and was believed to be made of steel. He was the Chief of the queen’s guards and knew every nook and cranny of the Mayaban castle.

    He also knew every secret.

He was dressed in his white sport coat, with a black, collared, button-down dress shirt, with a matching black silk tie, and a golden tie chain. His coat was complete with golden cufflinks which matched the buttons on his shiny black loafers.

He smelled like allspice and sandalwood.

Malcolm always admired the way that Taurrus always put himself together, although most of the time, Taurrus wore blue jeans, which was odd for the queen’s staff.

Taurrus was well-respected in the Mayaban queendom, and Malcolm had taken on to Taurrus as a father figure.

Although Taurrus was well-loved by the most evil city in Jakar, he rarely ever smiled.

At least, not with his mouth.

He was not smiling at this moment, but Malcolm knew he smiled with his eyes.

The Queen is looking for you, you know.

I..I was not aware. Is she here?

No, she was trying to reach you by your communicator.

I’m afraid it just died. Malcolm said, attempting to convince Taurrus.

You know...you cannot fool old eagles. Taurrus said, with a straight face. His eyes stopped smiling. Come with me, we must talk.

    Yes sir, granted.

Malcolm locked his door, and accompanied Taurrus out of the corridor, back into the castle. They walked through the rear entrance of the castle and out into the garden that the queen never set foot in.

She hated nature, and everyone knew this, yet Taurrus begged for the garden to keep him sane.

So, she granted him a patch of greenery, and allowed him to tend to it in his spare time. It was the only place that he could come and rest and think freely.

Taurrus was from the City of Adi. He farmed his own land, had the most beautiful garden on his street, and fed many. He had a wife and five children. One morning, Taurrus woke up, and it was all swept away from him.

He woke up to a house filled with butterflies, and all of his crops and flowers were destroyed. Taurrus screamed like a madman at the sheer sight of it all, and could be heard all the way to the Adian palace.

The people of his neighborhood all ran to see what had happened, catching sight of Taurrus attempting to do away with himself.

STOP!!! A man screamed out, running to Taurrus. He grabbed the dagger out of Taurrus’ hand. Taurrus was going to end his life in front of the very men, women, and children he had taken care of in his neighborhood.

What is the use of doing for others, while fighting to remain as  a good man, when in the blink of an eye...!!!??

Taurrus doubled over in the mud, pressing his face into the soil, crying uncontrollably before the people.

When Taurrus opened his eyes, he found himself strapped down in an infirmary. He resisted the urge to kick and scream and flail about. Instead, he focused his eyes on the ceiling.

Adonai, you have forsaken me! Whatever have I done to you, to deserve such cruelty?

He began to think to himself, I fed your people, I fed the land, I loved your creations and cared for them all, whatever have I done to you?

Tears ran from his eyes as he lay there on the bed in the infirmary, as they pooled beside his face as he reflected on everything he had lost.

He then spat at the ceiling, but in his mind he spat at the sky.

Just as you have dealt treacherously with me, I do unto you! He shouted, continuing to spit.

JUST AS YOU HAVE DEALT TREACHEROUSLY WITH ME, I DO UNTO YOU!!!! Taurrus continued to scream.

Nurses ran into his room to see him screaming, shouting, and cursing the Celestial Spirit as he spat at the ceiling, crying.

Hurry with the medicine! One of the nurses shouted, as the other ran to give her the syringe.

The nurse stuck the needle into Taurrus’ shoulder, and everything turned black and white, and faded into darkness.

    CHAPTER 2

She could see the aeroships heading her way as she tore through the field of bumbleflowers on her way to help the Queen. She believed she had been doing a pretty great job of staying off the radars of both the Shujaani Jurisdiction, and the City of Mayaba.

Why are they coming this way? She thought to herself.

The ships were very large and orblike, flickering with the evil red eyes of Mayaba. It was a small fleet of only seven of the strange spherical aerocrafts, yet the monumental size of each one of them made it seem to be a myriad.

Especially in the eyes of a child.

Kazi looked down at her digital map that she had been closely adhering to. A light flickered on the screen to show that she had gotten very close to Mayaba, approximately twenty miles off of it’s border. She was still within the countryside city limits of Adi.

Well that explains that! She said to herself, as she then pulled out a shiny object from her pack.

How am I supposed to use this thing, Adonai?

Kazi studied the object for a few seconds more. It seemed to be the arm piece that once belonged to the great Chief Commander Kamaja, but she still wasn’t sure.

She slid her tiny hand down into the elongated, metal arm, then held it up allowing it to slide up on her shoulder.

Within an instant, the arm piece immediately reacted by firmly fitting itself onto Kazi’s arm, as she let out a squeal.

Woah! She exclaimed, looking at the contraption. There was a message on the screen.

    YOU’RE WELCOME

What in the Devil’s Lair is this thing!? She was screaming at her arm, when she then remembered she needed to be quiet. She looked at the sky and noticed the floating orbs had gotten even closer to her.

Oh great! Just what I needed!

One of the orbs seemed to have stopped in mid air over her.

Kazi felt her heart race. "I wish I was invisible so they couldn’t find me!" She thought to herself.

She continued to observe the orb as it continued to sit still in the sky, as the other orbs passed by it, and over her. The orb then continued on its path toward Adi, but Kazi could see it spin around, apparently looking for her in confusion.

Wooooowwwww!!! Kazi said in sheer disbelief.

She continued charging down into Mayaba to help her queen cousin.

    I’ve got it, now!

SURELY, THIS MUST BE a joke! Savriér exclaimed.

She was the Royal Pilot of Queen Akasha’s aeroship, and she was good at it. She sat at the controls wearing a black vest, over a gray top, and black tights and flats. Her hair was a brightly colored mix of turquoise and violet, shortly cropped kinky-coils.

She had really warmed up to the Queen in the short time that she’d known her.

I doubt that it is. She’s maniacally intelligent! Who would think to create something so immensely calamitous and disgusting? Akasha replied, slightly disgusted. Keep your bearings, and do what you do best, Savi. Fly this ship, we are heading straight for the heart!

I mean no disrespect in saying this, Queen... Savriér said hesitantly, ...but do you not see what we are up against? Look at this thing!

My eyes are clear as the water molecules in the rivers. Yet, faith and fear are no mix.

Queen Akasha sat proudly in her seat, looking straightforward at the looming danger ahead of them.

My love, not to anger you...but are you sure about what you are commanding?

Without looking at him, Akasha gave her reply to King Dakarai: Straight for the heart.

Savi, ready your ammunition, go for the heart, full speed! Ordered Tajamali from behind.  She was a highly-respected Assistant Professor in the department of engineering at the Shujaani University, and was a big help to the Professor and Lord Ziven of the District of Awan.

She was now furiously poking at the buttons on her communicator, connecting with the other aeroships in the fleet. Ready your ammo, full speed ahead, go straight for the heart! This is an order from the Queen! Do you hear

One by one, each aeroship pilot replied, Granted!

Another voice came through the communicator:
