Image 2INTRODUCTION
Anglers do not have to stay inside throughout the long winter months, wishing for open water and summer fun. As you all already are, be a little more daring and bundle up, get outside, and try fishing in a whole new way—through the ice! Yes, ice fishing is just as enjoyable and productive as any other sort of fishing and it can yield good results. So why stay in the igloo when you still can try this novel method of fishing?
Plan something, gather your belongings, gather some buddies, and head out onto a frozen lake on a clear and fresh winter day, sled laden with fishing gear and a fishing license in hand. First and foremost, find a great fishing place, then dig a large hole in the ice until you can see open water. Then, to catch a fish, get out your unique lures, 2

Ice fishing is popular because of the solitude of being out on a frozen lake and the sport’s difficulty. You can try ice fishing to get a taste of a thrilling winter activity. Remember to bring your fishing license and a copy of the current Illinois Fishing Regulations to learn about restrictions, special regulations, new changes, and general state-wide regulations. This might be your best resource for staying within the rules while having the most fun on the ice!

You do not require a boat, engine, or truck to transport them both. You do not require an array of expensive fishing rods, reels, or lines. You do not require a complex anchoring mechanism. Indeed, you do not require an abundance of flies or lures. It’s simple at its finest AND it’s something the whole family can enjoy!
Of course, you could spend as much money as you like on fancy gear, as manufactur-ers provide as many gadgets and gizmos for ice fishing as for any other activity.
Now, let’s begin with a list of the bare-minimum equipment that you’ll require: 1. Something to pierce the ice. Most people use a six or eight inch ice auger, but an ax will suffice. If
