About this ebook
Returning to the dark and glamorous 19th century world of her New York Times instant bestseller, The Gilded Wolves, Roshani Chokshi dazzles us with another riveting tale as full of mystery and danger as ever in The Silvered Serpents.
They are each other’s fiercest love, greatest danger, and only hope.
Séverin and his team members might have successfully thwarted the Fallen House, but victory came at a terrible cost — one that still haunts all of them. Desperate to make amends, Séverin pursues a dangerous lead to find a long lost artifact rumored to grant its possessor the power of God.
Their hunt lures them far from Paris, and into the icy heart of Russia where crystalline ice animals stalk forgotten mansions, broken goddesses carry deadly secrets, and a string of unsolved murders makes the crew question whether an ancient myth is a myth after all.
As hidden secrets come to the light and the ghosts of the past catch up to them, the crew will discover new dimensions of themselves. But what they find out may lead them down paths they never imagined.
A tale of love and betrayal as the crew risks their lives for one last job.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The much-awaited sequel to Roshani Chokshi’s The Gilded Wolves, The Silvered Serpents picks up several months after the events of the first novel with the group struggling to accept the loss of one of their own, thus setting the mood for the rest of the novel. No longer a cohesive unit, we see the damage the loss caused each person, and it isn’t pretty. The group dynamic was one of the best things about the first book, and to see that torn apart through grief makes the sequel a difficult one.Even the personalities are different. Always focused, Séverin is now almost heartless in his efforts to achieve his goal. The others are equally broken. Their interactions are stiff and awkward. Gone are the days of banter and fluid camaraderie that defined them. They still work together, but there is an air of desperation to their efforts that hurts.Ms. Chokshi uses this grief to good effect though, utilizing it as a tool to help them achieve the object of their mission. Along the way, there are some predictable moments, and there are some brilliant ones. The slow-burn romance still exists, but that relationship grows beyond those boundaries into something much more complex and, frankly, adult. Other characters break their shackles and really start to shine, which helps ease the pain they continue to suffer. The Silvered Serpents is fundamentally a story about loss and its aftermath. Sure, the group must find another Babel fragment, but that is only part of the story. And what a story it is. I literally read it in one sitting and now must wait to find out how it all ends. With an ending that is as brilliant as it is cruel, the wait is going to be a long one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5‘The Silvered Serpents’ was one of my highly anticipated reads of 2020. I couldn’t wait to get my grubby little hands on it, and I am ecstatic to say that the author knows how to deliver! This was absolutely phenomenal, breathtaking and everything in between! I am seriously blown away. Usually I don’t have much success with sequels of any series, so I was a little apprehensive going into this read but the Book Gods above were on my side!We basically started off where we left off ‘The Gilded Wolves’. The aftermath of Tristen's death, which still makes me tear up, and the crew attempts to find the whereabouts of The Divine Lyrics—the ancient book that holds the secret of Forging, the knowledge of how to rejoin the Babel Fragments and—in the eyes of the Fallen House—how to access the power of God. It was darker, grittier, angstier, and more emotional than the prequel. The depressing undertones were refreshing because typically once a centralized character dies in any book, they usually mourn for a few chapters before heading out of the next adventure. Our precious baby Tristan was still very much on their minds throughout the whole read and I loved how the author touched on the aftermath of his death— it was real and it was raw.I love every second of this book and I must now suffer in silence until the next book comes out. The anticipation is killing me!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Silvered Serpets is the sequel to The Gilded Wolves and I would definitely say read that one first. This sequel picks up after a bit of time has passed after the dramatic events of the first book and the characters are all each recovering in their own ways (as am I!) What had been a tight knit group is now spread out and separate, but Séverin needs them to come together for one last job. We meet new characters, learn more about old ones, and of course, nothing goes according to plan. This second book in the series is even stronger than the first. The characters are more fleshed out, the story feels fuller, and I loved watching them grow within themselves and with each other. Zofia is still my favorite character and she really finds her own strength in this one. There’s more spectacular displays of forging magic, and the more serious topics are discussed well. This has grown from a series I liked to one I love, and I can’t wait for book 3! Electronic ARC provided by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Series Info/Source: This is the second book in the Gilded Wolves series which sounds like it’s going to be a trilogy. I got this as an eGalley from NetGalley.Story (4/5): I also thought for some reason this was a duology, but given the ending there needs to be at least one more book in this series. Up until the ending this was a 5 star book for me. This story mainly sends our characters on an adventure to the north, Russia. There they hope to finally find a very special book that Severin hopes will grant him godhood and Laila hopes will buy her more time to live. Characters (5/5): The characters pretty much make this whole book. Every single character in this book is incredibly well done and the rotating POVs work wonderfully for this book. These characters have such depth and such complex histories, they pull you in and make you love them. So well done!!!Setting (4/5): This book is set in an alternate version of our own world, it feels like it’s set in the past. The majority of this story took part in Northern Russia. While I enjoyed the wintery setting, I didn’t feel like the world building here was truly exceptional.Writing Style (5/5): After the characters, it’s the amazingly beautiful writing style that makes this book work so well. Chokshi writes beautifully and has such an excellent imagination. I was a bit disappointed in the ending because it felt so rushed, I left feeling kinda like "Uh, okay I guess we're done??"Summary (4.5/5): Overall I loved this book even more than the first book in the series. I love the characters, the adventure, and the amazing imagery here. These are very creative books and you never know what’s going to happen next. Although I enjoyed the big twist at the end, I thought it felt rushed and was disappointed in where this book left off. Part of that was because I thought this was a duology, they do say in the synopsis that “the crew risks their lives for one last job”.
