Megan and Mary The Time of Choices - M. A. Gilbertson

Megan and Mary the Time of Choices

Chapter One: Luna in Rabbit Hole

No time to say hello goodbye, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late! – Alice in Wonderland

LUNA ENTERED RABBIT Hole, Wisconsin through a portal Diaphanie made using the staff Luna paid to her. Andrew Melmen had magically enslaved several gnomes, two dragons and some men. Of the human men, most were members of the Knights of Purity, a pseudo-religious military organization dedicated to the elimination of non-humans, especially the Children of Babel, from the face of the Earth. Luna had freed most of Andy’s slaves, and she had killed the power mad tyrant Andrew Melmen, a renegade Child of Babel, and taken his magical staff, an artifact capable of creating a portal to almost anywhere. Diaphanie had required it as payment to raise Luna from an acolyte devoted to Fate to his Priestess and to consecrate the Moth Temple as a proper Temple blessed by Fate. Many of the freed slaves pledged fidelity and service to Luna and agreed to meet her in Rabbit Hole.

A few months ago, Luna was a homeless heroin addict; Fate had rescued her by sending her down a path. She needed to be taken by Andy and given a new magical drug, nayporr. However, Fate had promised if she worked extremely hard down this difficult path, she would have a life worth living. The nayporr was different than any other drug Luna had taken. It enhanced her powers, but it had side effects. It altered her physiology; she now required it to live, like food, water and air.

Luna was standing in the alley behind the old movie theater. It was midday on the afternoon of December 26th of 2018. Luna was tired of being homeless, poor, and an addict. She endured much being held as Andy’s captive. She had worked hard to learn what Fate wanted her to know. She had found her calling to use her extreme psi-powers and psychic gifts to serve Lord Fate, the Master of Destiny. Luna was now a priestess of her own temple.

The first thing, Fate needed Luna to do, was to go see Rebecca Moore at the Rabbit Hole, Wisconsin City Hall. Fate sent her here armed with information about Fate’s High Priestess Moore who no longer put Fate first in her life. Luna was here to remind Rebecca of her oath of service to Fate. Luna was here to pick up the slack and work with Fate’s chosen pair. She was on a mission to give Rebecca, Fate’s message.

Luna made her way across town. Along the way, she noted people staring at her, and she could see in their mind they were thinking about the weird girl with all blue eyes including the whites. It was a side effect of nayporr, a magical drug, which amplified psi powers and psychic abilities of which she possessed in abundance. She now required nayporr to live. It was more than an addiction; she needed it as much as she needed food, water, or air. Her eyes would forever be all blue with her eye whites a drab blue color, the iris a darker blue and her pupils being very dark blue almost black in color. She looked down trying to conceal her eyes and darted into a drug store to shoplift a pair of dark sunglasses. Once she had the sunglasses on, it minimized the problem of having strange eyes. She continued to city hall.

Luna walked into the lobby of the Rabbit Hole, Wisconsin City Hall. She went to the security guard and told him, Can you let High Priestess Moore know that Priestess Moth is here to see her?

The guard looked at her and said, I think you are in the wrong place, miss. There is no High Priestess Moore here; this is city hall not a cult.

Luna looked at him getting a little frustrated and explained, Sir, I know this is city hall. I am asking you to let Rebecca Moore know that Priestess Moth is here to see her.

Now the guard was getting a little frustrated, and he started to say something, but Luna cut him off, she looked at his name tag and did a quick glance into his mind and she said in a hushed voice looking him directly in the eyes, Listen to me Kenneth, Ms. Moore might not like the fact you are stealing office supplies. If you tell Ms. Moore I am here to see her, I would be happy to not mention this to anyone else, it will be our little secret.

He looked annoyed, and he told her, Miss, I do not know what you are talking about. I think you should leave before I have you arrested.

Luna looked deeper into his mind; she leaned in and whispered in his ear, You are right, stealing office supplies is not a big deal. But maybe the arresting officer you call to remove me from your lobby, would be interested in information about a hit and run that happened 15 years ago on 4th street. Drinking and driving is an awfully bad thing. It is a good thing you have not driven drunk since that night. It was fortunate for her someone found her and called an ambulance. It is sad she never walked again.

A look of terror shot across Kenneth’s face; he went white. He said, Please follow me, Miss Moth. He took her passed security and to the elevator. He told her, Go to the Mayor’s office on the third floor and ask the receptionist for an appointment. That is the best I can do. Please it was an accident, I was just sixteen. No one died.

She patted his shoulder and said, No judgements here, you are a good person. Thank you for your help, Kenneth. She stepped into the elevator, turned around and smiled at him as the doors closed. Instead of pushing the button for the third floor, she punched in the code on the elevator floor buttons and the elevator rose to the fourth floor. When the doors opened seconds later, she stepped out into a hallway with a black marble floor and pillars with white marble walls. The ceiling had an elaborate painting of a tower surrounded by beautiful gardens. At the end of this hall was an expensive looking solid cherry wood desk. At the desk was a receptionist who looked like a super model. On the desk were only a vase of fresh orchids, a date planning book, and a complex looking phone. Beyond the desk was a massive set of white double doors. Luna approached the receptionist, and the receptionist started to reach for a button under the desk to alert security. Luna told her, Stop right there, you do not want to do anything you are going to regret. Tell Ms. Moore Priestess Luna Moth is here to see her on Fate’s orders.

The receptionist paused, looked at Luna, she saw an underweight but not in a model-like way, more of a missed meals from being homeless way, teenage girl dressed in ripped dirty blue jeans, a stained blue tee-shirt, a green light jacket, and wearing sunglasses. The girl did not appear to be a threat requiring extra security, just some sad street person who somehow accidently wandered in here. She reached for the pistol under the desk instead. She would give the girl an opportunity to rectify the situation. But, if she had to kill the girl herself, so be it. Holding the gun under the table with the safety off, she said. Miss, I do not know how you got up here, but if you go back the way you came, I will not report you.

Luna slowly approached the receptionist with her hands up and said to her, I am sorry, but I do not have time for this. You look tired; I think I will just let myself in. Luna gently psychically entered the receptionist’s mind and shut it down rendering her unconscious. The gun dropped to the floor, clinking loudly against the marble. The young woman slumped in her chair. Luna walked up to the doors and found them locked. She used her third eye to psychically view the inside of the lock. It was completely electronic using electromagnets to open and close the large bolts in the tops and bottom of the doors. Using her psionic gifts, she manipulated the flow of electrons until a few minutes later, the bolts all retracted back into the door. She pushed the heavy double doors open telekinetically and proclaimed loudly, High Priestess Moore, you are a hard person to get to see. I am Priestess Moth, here at Fate’s command.

The mayor was alone in her private office, sitting behind her desk doing some paperwork. She looked up surprised and shocked then asked, Who did you say you are, and how did you get in here?

Our Lord Fate, Master of Destiny, sent me, since you no longer listen to him; I am here to talk to you for our master. High Priestess Moore, may I call you Rebecca? Luna responded.

No, Ms. Moore or Mayor Moore will do, Rebecca told the intruder. She could see Brittany, her private receptionist, slumped in her chair with her head tilted an uncomfortable looking angle off the armrest. Is she dead? Rebecca asked, carefully prepping a fire ball.

This is exactly why I am here. You should have known I was coming. You should have known I was here, and you should have known if it was her appointed time to die. I am here to give you a message from our Lord Fate, Master of Destiny. If you fireball me it is only going to piss our Master off more than he already is. I am not here to defrock you or strip you from your title; I am here to remind you of your oath to Fate and to learn from you, so I can complete my training, Luna told her. She could hear Fate in the back of her mind giving her insight and wisdom to tell Rebecca what he wanted her to hear.

Rebecca stopped the spell, keeping the extra Ether she was sucking into her net ready just in case. She felt no insight from her inner connection to Fate. Dread seeped into her soul. The intruder was correct. She should have seen the attack a few months ago by the Knights of Purity against Rabbit Hole, Delphi and Prague. She was blindsided by Megan being one of the chosen pair, and about Andy’s treason. Still, she was not ready to believe Fate had sent this child to remind her of her oath. She countered with, Do you know who I am, you insolent little whelp?

Yes, I know exactly who you are. You are the High Priestess of the Delphi Temple dedicated to the service of Lord Fate, Master of Destiny. You are Rebecca Moore, daughter of Goddess Diaphanie Moore. You should be the current Matriarch of the Babel House of Delphi, the ancient line of Oracles dedicated to Fate’s will, the custodians of the Temples of Delphi and Fate’s hands of destiny. Under your family, the Babel House of Delphi has been absorbed into the House Illuminati. You now act and think like any typical power-driven member of the House Illuminati. When was the last time you did your duty and moved a piece of the cosmic puzzle to seal the destiny of an event or person? Fate is the puppet master of the Multiverse, and we are the strings he pulls to move the fabric of time and space to make sure the paths of destiny lead to where they need to go. We are the hands, feet and voices for our Master Fate. The problem is you think you are the Grand Prefect appointed to wield the Writ of Power and save all of Babel. You think you are the Babel Provincial Governor over the Central North America Region. You think you are the mayor of a human town in Wisconsin. You have forgotten your first duty is to Fate. None of those other thing’s matter compared to following your oath to Fate and Destiny. You have certainly sealed numerous people’s destinies, but how many of those actions were due to Fate’s decree and how many were due to your personal free will. There are a great deal of strings starting to go slack, and I am here to fix the stage and pull the strings taunt again. The good news is Fate is not angry with you, just disappointed. He has given you his permission to pursue your quest to fix and save the Children of Babel from a corrupt government, Luna told Rebecca speaking the words exactly as Fate instructed her to say.

Rebecca looked terribly upset. Could it be true she was pushing the Universe in the directions she wanted and turning her back on everything she vowed to do in the service of Fate. She sat down and looked at Luna and asked, If what you say is true, what is it Fate would like me to do?

Very simple, you do your thing. You train me in reading the ancient writings and give me whatever I need to fix things here to Fate’s liking. You can go about saving Babel and possibly forging a peace with the humans. Oh, by the way, I took the liberty of summoning Mary and Megan. They are coming up the elevator now. They are Fate’s Chosen Pair, and they are also misbehaving and messing up the puppet show with their own impulsive, inept behavior under your poor judgement, Luna said still actively listening to Fate’s plan. It was like she was flying a plane using autopilot, but it was hard for Luna to completely sit back and let Fate have control. She was the pilot of her own being, and she was trusting Fate would send her through this storm to land in the happy life she was shown to be possible if she willingly did as Fate directed her to do. She wanted the happy life Fate had promised her. The path to her happiness was so far filled with exceedingly arduous work, pain and suffering. Luna was at her core selfish, self-centered, arrogant, and very impatient. It was good thing Fate’s patience was vast, because in the back of her mind, Luna’s own arrogance was starting to push for more control of her metaphorical plane.

Mary and Megan rushed in seeing the receptionist unconscious or dead, shouting, Rebecca, what is wrong? We got your message and came as soon as we could. They stopped in the hall seeing the receptionist unresponsive and Rebecca sitting in her chair looking distraught. She was staring intently at the odd girl in front of the mayor’s desk. Mary immediately started to pull Ether for a spell to blink the girl out of the office and outside the window. Luna could sense the Ether being pulled from the intersecting ley line running across the ceiling of the mayor’s office and telekinetically severed the stream without turning around. The backlash, like a magical rubber band being snapped in two, sent Mary crashing against the floor. The wind was knocked out of her and her stored Ether already in her net rushed out like a half-filled balloon someone let go of before tying off. Mary gasped for breath, and she turned white as ghost. Mary could not move, and she felt very disoriented. Megan pulled a gun and Luna psychically touched her mind and paralyzed Megan’s arms and legs. The gun dropped from Megan’s grasp, and she too dropped to the floor incapacitated.

Before Luna had fallen into deep depression, despair, and teen angst resulting in complete addiction to heroin, she lived for power, control and a lust for adrenalin pumping danger. The old Luna was rising-up and edging Fate out of her piolet’s seat. Luna looked at Rebecca and said with an air of superiority, This is exactly what I am talking about Rebecca, you and your fireball, Mary going to drop me out a four-story window, your receptionist about to shoot me, as was Megan. Death is a string you should not be cutting without careful consideration to the course of destiny’s plan. When I killed Andrew Melmen, I saved as many of his slaves as I could and killed him with Fate’s Blessing.

Mary and Megan’s minds reeled as they heard Luna say Andy was dead.

Rebecca looked up in disbelief and interrupted, You killed Andrew Melmen? He had at least two dragons, a squad of gnome fighters, and several elite Knights to protect him.

My point is, I wanted to kill Andy, but Fate made me wait until Fate deemed it appropriate for me to do so. I made sure I had a solid plan blessed by Fate. I saved as many of Andy’s enslaved army as I could, and then I killed him. Making sure he stayed dead. I let each freed slave give him a death blow thus giving all of us some closure. Then, the dragons took turns burning and freezing his body, ripping and stomping his remains into frozen ash. Finally, I had an imp magically shred his soul to finish him. Andrew Melmen is beyond dead, he is gone completely, and he can never come back. Luna bragged to them.

Mary and Megan started to regain control of their body’s and slowly sat up. Rebecca looked at Luna dumbfounded and asked with concern, Where are the dragons now?

High Priestess, the dragons are at my beck and call. Would you like me to summon one? Luna said smugly all on her own, filled with boastful pride and without Fate’s input.

No, please leave the dragons far from town. What about the Knights, what happened to them? Rebecca asked.

Some went back to Geneva; some are trying to find me. So please send out word to the local police and The Order not to kill them. Killing Knights in Rabbit Hole  would surely jeopardize the fragile peace negotiations you and Darius are trying to enact, Luna said, turning to look down at Mary and Megan’s shocked faces. Luna told Rebecca, It looks like none of you are particularly good at sharing information. Did Megan or Mary tell you about the mess Megan made in the Archives of Delphi? Rebecca, the Archives of Delphi are part of a temple to Fate. You sent an untrained, uninitiated, heretic into a sacred site with a sealed room only be viewed by priestesses of Fate or properly educated acolytes. Megan is neither. What do you have to say for yourselves? Luna told them with knowledge Fate had given her. Fate was a strong proponent of free will even when it interfered with his own desires. He was patient; his plans would always prevail in the end even if his devoted followers constantly went off script.

Megan did not have a key to the restricted book room. I authorized her access to the normal library, and she is a member of Fate’s Chosen Pair. Rebecca said in her defense.

Luna looked at Megan and said, "Rebecca, it does not matter if she gained access to the room or not. She should have not been by the door in the first place. She may be a member of the Chosen Pair picked by Fate, but she lacked the discipline and training required to be in that Archive. I will make her an acolyte and train her myself. I need a space to make my temple and to live at, so I will build it behind your big house on the hill. I will stay at your house while my temple is being built. You will also train me on the reading of the sacred written codes of Fate’s Priestesses and provide me with whatever resources I need. We can start with resources from the Construction Company and workforce The Order uses as a cover in this town. I would like them to erect my modest temple. I will also require finances and credit to get the ball rolling.

What, are you crazy, I am not doing any of that! Rebecca proclaimed angrily.

I will make you a deal. You tell me who is going to call you in the next five minutes on the phone, and I will concede my claims and leave you all alone, Luna told her.

Rebecca said, Roy is going to call me at 11:00 O’clock, and it is almost eleven now. So, I will say Roy will call in the next few minutes.

Roy is going to be delayed; he is following a Knight named Reginald to keep an eye on him. Luna told her and continued to say, Darius will be calling in a few minutes, on the special cell phone in your right bottom desk drawer. He is calling with urgent questions. I am going to write down the correct answers, you can say what you want, free will and all that, but I would, and I am sure Fate would prefer you include these answers in your conversation. Luna took a piece of paper and grabbed a pen from the top of Rebecca’s desk, then quickly wrote:

    1)  Yes, she did.

    2)  Yes, she can.

    3)  She wants nothing to do with the Knights of Purity, she wants nothing to do with Babel, and she will be doing her own thing.

    4)  Yes, she would be willing to meet with a representative of the Knights if no more than 3 Knights are present at a meeting place to be determined by her.

    5)  Yada Yada insert your own free will speech here.

Luna handed the note to Rebecca and said, I am going to the bank to start things in motion to set up a bank account linked to your personal credit line. Be sure to let Franz know you approve the new bank account links. I will be taking Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum with me for the rest of the day. Luna turned and walked past Megan and Mary still sitting on the floor. Fate had other errands for Luna to do, and he hoped she would stick closer to the plan this time, but it was not likely. If Fate had let his twin, the Mother Of Monsters, limit or remove free will from the equation of the Multiverse, it would have become so mind numbingly boring and so much work. It would have made the eternities of existence completely unbearable. Fate hoped when his twin finally escaped her prison, she would see his point, and they could work together again.

Rebecca was in shock Luna knew about the secret phone for Darius the High Commander and leader of the Knights of Purity and herself the ipso facto leader of the Children of Babel to communicate directly with each other. Before Rebecca could respond to Luna’s declaration of an impromptu bank trip, the secure cell phone in the mayor’s desk started to ring.  She looked at the drawer and back to Luna, snapping back to her senses, Rebecca yelled at Mary and Megan, Please go with her and try to keep her from telling the wrong things to the wrong people. I would say keep her alive, but she appears to be very able to take care of doing that herself. Go quickly and do not lose her.

Luna entered the elevator, calling back, You two, get up and quickly join me in the elevator. I am sure Rebecca would prefer to talk to the Lord High Commander of the Knights of Purity in private.

Mary and Megan jumped up and ran to the elevator. As the elevator doors closed, Rebecca opened the drawer and answered the phone. Hello, Darius, how can I help you today?

Darius replied, I have it on good authority a teenage girl calling herself Luna, is roaming around your town. I have information from a trusted source that she killed Andrew Melmen.

I only just found out Luna was in town and yes, it appears she did kill Andy, Rebecca told him looking at the note Luna gave her.

I also heard she can remove the Babel Marking Spell that can enslave any human. Do you think this is true? Darius asked hopefully.

Yes, I believe she can negate the spell, but I am not sure it is always successful. We are trying to determine the long-term effects and if it can be improved, Rebecca bluffed to appear she knew what was going on in her town and with Luna.

We would like to have her sent to Geneva; she would be a great asset to our safety. She is human and she belongs with her own kind. We can send a plane, or you can send a plane, but I would like her here sometime tomorrow. Darius insisted.

She wants nothing to do with the Knights of Purity, she wants nothing to do with Babel, and she will be doing her own thing. She was very adamant about being left to do her own thing. I have people watching her to keep her safe. We need to learn how she can break the marking spell, so we can train more people capable of removing the curse of enslavement, Rebecca told him looking at answer three on Luna’s note.

This is not acceptable. We need to meet with her and tell her the advantages of accepting our hospitality and protection. We need full access to her without Babel supervision or intimidation, Darius told her.

Darius, in efforts to help our peace to proceed forward, I talked to her, and she would be willing to meet with the Knights unsupervised if no more than three of your representatives are present at a meeting place, to be determined by her. I can have her call you tomorrow to arrange a meeting place and time, Rebecca told him pushing the note aside.

I will have my man in town contact her to make the meeting arrangements. We are extremely interested in this human child. We can offer her sanctuary and a protected villa to live at, with everything a teenage human girl could want. I will be coming with a delegation to Rabbit Hole tomorrow to talk with her in person. Rebecca, I would like to meet with you after I talk to the girl. Will you guarantee our safety if I come to Rabbit Hole tomorrow? Consider it a test of how well we can work together, Darius told her.

It would please me to welcome you to Wisconsin. You have my word; I will make sure you are safe. My interest in the girl is that she is allowed to make her own choices. Whatever she chooses, I will stand by it. There is an airstrip by my home that should be able to accommodate your aircraft. I look forward to seeing you again, Rebecca said.

I look forward to seeing you and your town. May our alliance continue to grow, I will see you tomorrow, Darius said, and he hung up.

Rebecca immediately called Roy on her personal cell phone, putting the other one back in the drawer and locking it. After a few rings, Roy felt the vibration of the phone in his pocket and pulled out his phone. Seeing Rebecca was calling, he quietly responded, Yes, your excellency.

Roy are you currently following an unknown man around town? she asked.

Yes, I am. He appears to be looking for something. He is trying to be sneaky, but I do not think he has noticed me yet. What do you want me to do? Roy asked.

Roy, approach the man, his name is Reginald; He is a Knight of Purity who was enslaved by Andrew Melmen. He is free of the marking spell, and he is searching for a girl. Please extend him free access to the city, provided he does not violate any laws. Tell him there is a truce in Rabbit Hole. If he does not believe you, and he becomes aggressive try to subdue him, but most importantly, do not kill him. I need him to stay alive, she told him.

If you say so Rebecca, what do I do after I talk to him, if he remains calm and does not attack? Roy asked confused.

Just let him go on his way and welcome him to town. If he asks you about a girl, listen to what he has to say and tell him the truth; you have not seen the girl. Wish him a good day, and then get back to my private office as soon as you can, she told him.

He hung up the phone, approached the man, and said, Are you Reginald?

The man turned around looked at Roy and said, Who is asking?

I represent the mayor. The city is currently under a truce between the Children of Babel and the Knights of Purity. I would like to extend to you a welcome to Rabbit Hole and ask that you act within the laws of Wisconsin while you are here. Is there is anything I can help you with? Roy asked him.

The man looked at Roy apprehensively and said, So, are you working for the mayor? Did you know Andrew Melmen? he asked.

Yes, I work for the mayor, but I have never met Andrew. However, I know he is wanted for murder by the local police and the Babel Government. If you have any information about him, we would appreciate any facts that could lead to his arrest. Do you know where he is? Roy asked with urgency.

I am sorry, but I cannot help you find Andrew, but last I had heard he was out of the country. I am free to go then? Reginald asked him.

Roy nodded yes, and Reginald walked away. Roy watched him go and rushed back to city hall to find the mayor.

Chapter Two: Luna Goes to the Bank

A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don’t need it. –Bob Hope

LUNA TOLD MARY TO DRIVE them to the bank. There was one more mission Luna needed to do for Fate, and it was at the Bank. If she could get funded, that would be great, but that was not the real reason she was here today. They parked in the lot next to the bank and went in and up the stairs to the special account’s offices. Luna proudly walked up to the bank receptionist followed by Mary and Megan. Luna politely asked her, Miss, I would like to see the bank manager about linking an account to Rebecca Moore’s account. Hearing the mayor’s name in addition to seeing Mary and Megan standing behind Luna, the receptionist called Franz the president of the bank instead of a regular bank manager. Mary and Megan looked apprehensive thinking this is not going to go well.

A squad of eight goons came out to escort them back to Franz’s private office. Once inside his office, Luna walked up to Franz’s desk. She looked at the nameplate on the desk and said, Franz, I would like to set up an account in my name linked to Rebecca Moore’s personal account unless she has a Temple of Delphi account. Although, from what I know about High Priestess Moore, that is very unlikely.

Mary and Megan looked at each other with concern. Franz’s left eye was starting to twitch slightly. Franz looked at the teenager and said, Are you related to Rebecca in some way?

We both work for the same boss. I will be in town for a while, and I will need funds for our work, Luna said respectfully.

And if I call Ms. Moore to verify, she is agreeable to her funding you and your lemonade stand or whatever you have in mind, will she say it is okay, little girl? Franz said with an air of disgust.

Well old man, she is currently not going to be available. However, if you can start the paperwork, I will see she signs the papers tonight and have them on your desk first thing in the morning, Luna told him in a less respectful tone.

Franz nodded to the goon closest to the door and the goon turned around and locked the office door. Then, Franz looked at Mary and said angrily, I am sick of you bringing filthy sapes in here and making a mockery of this bank. I will give you the opportunity to grovel for my forgiveness and leave on your own, or I can have my men pummel you and throw you out back with the rest of the trash.

Mary responded, I have nothing to do with this, Rebecca told me to follow her here. She looked around the room. There were eight exceptionally large goons. She thought two of them might even be half ogres. Both herself and Megan had been upgraded to unbreakable bones and very puncture resistant bodies by being Fate’s Chosen pair. Even though the goon squad could pound them till they were black and blue, she was sure nothing in this room could kill them. She was, however, hoping to avoid the pain that would come with being pummeled by goon fists and feet. She was rapidly running melee scenarios in her mind when Luna startled her.

Luna looked menacingly into Franz’s eyes and demanded loudly, Did you just call me a sape! Luna’s thoughts were filling with a mix of emotions. Her own hatred of those who judge others by what they were and not who they were, ignited an anger inside her. The pressure she had kept bottled up of having to keep everything together while she freed as many of Andy’s slaves as she could before Andy discovered what was happening was about to blow. Trying to keep the Knights of Bigotry, as she called them, in check while she saved as many of Andy’s slaves was stressful. Earlier in the day, she had been in a fight to the death with Andrew, and there was a point she thought he would beat her, and she would have died. Dealing with having to pay and grovel to Goddess Diaphanie Moore for the temple and position Fate promised her was extremely irritating. Luna even had difficulty just convincing Diaphanie to send her to Rabbit Hole, an act that took less than a minute and with no cost to Diaphanie had been met with resistance. But Luna had played the game to keep a calm, respectful attitude to achieve what should have been a simple reward. Dealing with Rebecca was more difficult than she thought it would be. Franz’s condescending hatred toward Luna reminded her of Andy’s arrogant disregard for anyone not of Babel. Luna was still very strained from all the previous confrontations of this day, but she tried to keep it under control and hidden. Luna’s mission for Fate involved incapacitating Franz and his goons, but as Luna’s anger increased, her judgement decreased. She was losing control. Her emotions were at war, and her rage was winning.

Stop addressing me directly, you pathetic little sape. I am the president of this bank and a true citizen of Babel. Mary, you need to get your new sape pet under control before this gets ugly! Franz yelled at Mary.

Before Mary could respond, Luna snapped and screamed at Franz, You pencil dicked little prick! I very nicely ask for something that is my right, and you have the bad judgement to insult me. I am so sick of you arrogant Babel assholes thinking you are God’s gift to the Earth! You are really starting to piss me off. The last Babel prick who ordered me around, I killed him! Do you want to die, Franz? Luna quickly turned to the largest goon who blocked the door. She extended her palm toward him, and he went flying through the door crashing through the wall across the hall. He did not get up. Luna spun around. She reached out psychically touching each standing goon’s mind, linking them together and targeting them. She instantly built-up psychic energy; she screamed a high pitch screech, releasing a psionic mind blast. Everyone covered their ears and the other seven goons dropped to the ground cowering in pain and terror, some even curling up in fetal position on the floor. Franz was out of his chair backed into the corner with a look of utter horror on his face. Luna advanced casually, walked around the desk toward Franz. Which pathetic house of Babel are you from, Franz? she asked looking into his thoughts, Oh my God! A pathetic little coward like you belongs to House Illuminati, you are a disgrace and disappoint to your house, she said continuing to read his mind and laughed at him. Franz, what scares you the most? She pushed him to think of memories of the scariest times in his life. She scanned deeper through his thoughts looking for a memory that gave him nightmares. It was official, Luna had completely gone rogue, and Fate would see if Luna could complete her errand without his active guidance.

Please, Priestess Luna, was it? Please, I can see you are not a sape. I do not know what you are, but you are certainly not a sape! Please don’t kill me! Franz pleaded.

Franz, you bigoted idiot, I am indeed human. Get on your knees, you slimy sniveling worm, you are so low you are not even good enough to lick dog shit off the bottom of my shoes, she coldly told Franz as he dropped to his knees pleading for his life. She took her thumb and pressed it to his forehead. Luna had read his mind and found a terrifying memory from Franz’s childhood. The Knights of Purity had hunted down Franz’s family. He became separated from his mother. He had taken refuge in a sewer. He was wet and cold. Rats and spiders bit his flesh. He curled up in pain retching from the stench. As Luna pressed her thumb against his head, she flooded his mind with this memory and amped it up adding snakes and tarantulas. Franz dropped to the floor and curled up crying hysterically, then peed his pants.

Mary and Megan looked around the room. The door was gone; everyone else was completely incapacitated on the floor. Luna walked slowly to the door. She paused bending over in pain and holding her head. Another side effect she experienced from the nayporr happened if she used her gifts amped up by the drug while also experiencing strong negative emotions. The release of adrenaline, cortisol, and other hormones produced by her endocrine system would cause the nayporr to release chemicals into her blood stream that inflamed her anger like pouring gasoline on a fire. Her psi-powers spiked in potentially hard to control bursts that burned swiftly through her mind and across her nervous system to result in rapid damage to all of her organs. If she focused her mind untainted by emotions, if she used her powers in a calm, non-stressful manner, she could avoid a lot of intense pain and life threating problems.

Then she stood up and commanded, Mary, I need the conference room three doors down on the right. Please go unlock it and make sure it is clear and there is no working surveillance. She stood up leaning against the door frame. Mary could see by changes in Luna’s aura that she was in critical condition. She rushed past her and did as she was told. Luna stood upright and walked down the hall to the open conference room hiding and suppressing her pain. She crawled onto the large wooden conference table. She got on her knees bend down and placed her palms against the table. She prostrated herself and called out. Lord Fate, Master of Destiny, your humble servant beseeches your forgiveness. I apologize for letting my emotions get out of control. I, your humble Priestess, ask for your blessings, that I may go forward in your light. She gasped in pain and called out again louder, Thank you, Heart and Soul of the Multiverse, Master of the Universe. I humbly submit to your judgement. Thank you, Lord! She sat up on the table and winced, letting out a scream of pain. Her organs were shutting down, she was dying. She laughed and looked at Mary and Megan. I know I should not have lost my temper, but arrogant pompous jerks really piss me off these days. Owwwwww. She let out another scream of pain and told them, Step outside and shut the door. Please make sure I am left alone until I am ready to be seen again.

Mary insisted with grave concern, Please, let me heal you Luna, I can tell most of your organs are failing. You are going to die if I do not heal you now!

Luna laughed and winced in pain saying with a lot of effort to keep her voice level, It is nice of you to owwffer, as a spasm of pain hit her. She fought to finish her statement, But there is not a damn thing you can do. There is no magic strong enough, except what Fate has bestowed on to me. Now give me some privacy. Let me do this. Mary and Megan stepped out of the room, shut the door and leaned against it. Inside the room, Luna laughed again and yelled, Little dude I need you, mommy needs some sugar! Mary and Megan heard a loud popping noise coming from behind the door, they looked at each other, but they did not open the door. Izzy, Luna’s little dude popped into the room on the table in front of Luna. Izzy was an ionius monkey-cat, a very rare magical creature. The ionius stood about three feet high with long thin arms, legs and a prehensile tail. He had a slender torso and a small cat-like head on a slender neck. He was covered in silky black and white short curly fur. He could be invisible anytime he wanted, and he had a magical pouch of infinite holding in his belly. Ioniuses can teleport themselves and whatever is in their pouch at will. They are physically extraordinarily strong and excellent climbers. They are as intelligent as a monkey and as loyal as a dog. Luna had bonded with Izzy, because she was human, and she could not use Ether, the magical energy flowing throughout the Multiverse. Izzy could use magic to teleport himself, make himself invisible and do a few other magical abilities, but he was not capable of doing actual spells. Luna could use her psi powers to simulate magical spells, but she was not capable of doing actual spells either. Together using little dude’s magical abilities and Luna psi gifts, she could telekinetically scoop balls of Ether then telepathically guide Izzy to magically heal her at the same time as she psychically healed herself. It was a special ritual that had taken a lot of work to perfect. The nayporr was a double edge sword. It amplified her psi powers, but if she succumbed to strong emotions like anger, it tended to ignite the nayporr encrusting her nervous system like napalm destroying her organs.

Luna told Izzy, Thank Fate, you’re here.

Megan and Mary were listening intently at the door; they heard a Ziploc bag being opened and then purring. Luna had removed a baggie of nayporr from Little Dude’s pouch and very carefully took three tablespoons of the fine greenish yellow powder. She licked the spoon clean, sealed the bag and put it back in his pouch. She instantly felt better, but she knew she was only half done. She scooped out a ball of Ether telekinetically and deposited it in Little Dude’s aura. She hugged the little guy, and he wrapped his arms, legs and tail around her. She psychically linked to his mind and helped guide him to use the Ether to magically assist her to do the cleansing healing health ritual on herself that she could not perform without him. She kissed his forehead and whispered, Thank you so much, I love you baby. They hugged for a few more moments all the while he was purring loudly. Then with a popping sound he was gone. She sat lotus position in the center of the table facing the door and called out to Mary and Megan and said, You may come back in now, I am okay again.

They returned and looked at her in amazement. Mary looked at her aura, and it was now fine. Before her aura was a sickly yellow color with black spots on each of her organs. Now it was a lush pink with no sign of damaged organs. She appeared to be in perfect health.

Megan asked, If you are human, how can you do real magic?

She responded, "I am human, 100% Homo sapiens DNA, I cannot do any real magic, I have psychic and psionic gifts. It also requires the blessing of Fate and lots of extremely hard work. We should go now. The thug I threw through the door is about to wake up. I can talk to the bank in a couple of days. In the meantime, Fate requires you give me some money," Luna said jumping off the table and walking out of the room.

Mary and Megan followed her marveling at the destruction and incapacitated bank goons. Megan told Mary, I think she has better moves than you do. You are good, but I do not think you could have taken out all eight guys that easily by yourself.

I could not have taken all of them down alone, I admit it. But it almost killed her. So maybe, she should not have done it by herself either, Mary commented.

As someone who has been at the end of Franz’s anti-human discrimination, I was so glad she did what she did, and she did not die. It made my day to see Franz reduced to a pile of pissing, drooling crap. She is impressive! Megan told Mary.

Luna stopped at the receptionist’s desk, the real reason she was at the bank today. This was the errand Fate wanted her to perform for him. Luna did not feel Fate’s voice in the back of her mind, but she knew her duty, and she still had all of her considerably powerful gifts. After what happened in Franz’s office, she wanted to prove to Fate she deserved to be his priestess of her Moth Temple.

Luna told receptionist, Mr. Franz had to cancel our meeting since he was taken ill. Please tell him I hope he feels better, and that Luna will be back tomorrow to finish the paperwork. She smiled and waited for the receptionist to reply.

The receptionist tried to call Franz, but there was no answer. She looked worried and uncertain as to what to do. She had heard the loud crashing noises before, but then after things quieted down in the past, her boss would call her to tell her that the customer had fallen and needed an ambulance. Sometimes she was told that the customer was leaving out the back and would not be doing business with this bank in the future. She looked up at Luna, who was looking down on her and nervously asked Luna, Do you think Mr. Franz will need an ambulance?

Luna read the receptionist’s mind and responded, Annabelle, Mr. Franz went out the back door, but he should be back tomorrow. If you wanted to take the rest of the day off, I am sure it would be okay. You seem uncomfortable. Is everything alright, Annabelle?

Annabelle tried to call Mr. Franz again. She was sure the bank was some kind of organized crime run business for laundering money, but it paid very well, and the work was easy. She was afraid if she tried to quit, Mr. Franz would have her killed. Should she go back and check on Mr. Franz? Would she find him murdered? She did not know what to do. She asked in a frightened voice, Did you kill him? Are you going to kill me, too?

"Annabelle, you seem like a nice girl, so I am going to be straight with you. You are right, Mr. Franz is a bad person, and he does things
