About this ebook

Whoops-a-Daisy, the World’s Gone Crazy is the rhyming tale of a little girl’s mission to fight for the fair treatment and future of her four furry/feathered friends living in the rapidly disappearing woods behind her home. It is told through Fyrn, a seven-year-old girl with big dreams. She wants to be a voice for those unable to speak and the eyes for those who fail to see, for those who do not know which path to choose, and for civilization on the cusp with much to lose! Noticing trees slowly disappearing from the bushland/reserve behind her home, Fryn embarks on a courageous fight for the future of her four furry/feathered friends (Chuckles the kookaburra, Ank the possum, K-all the wise old owl, Tabmow the wombat) and Snuff, the echidna. Fryn struggles to spread awareness of the plight of the frightened wildlife as their habitat is slowly cut away, now only time will tell if she can achieve her goal and transform into a heroine who positively impacts their world.

BetZy

BetZy grew up on the Mornington Peninsula (Victoria), where she led a somewhat sheltered life. Today, she hopes to help future generations grow, learn, and excel. Her first book, Whoops-a-Daisy, the World’s Gone Crazy, focuses on mankind’s thoughtless, ongoing crime against nature and its vulnerable creatures. Having lived in Tuross Head (NSW south of Batemans Bay) for the past 21 years now, she’s been witnessing a gradual increase of Mankind’s destructive pattern. The fires of 2019/2020 devastated the South Coast on the whole…… and upon the wildlife, also took it’s toll! Still whenever she journeys to Batemans Bay…… she witnesses loaded logging trucks heading the opposite way. From Mogo State Forest, which (since the fires) has been depleted…… now the remaining species are being deleted!

    About the Author

    Warning!

    Prologue

There have been many dark tales which have been read to children over the years

Some stories may have instilled a few children with phobias or fears

Such as those original stories from the Grimm brothers………centuries ago

Many of which plenty of us have grown to know.

Dark tales set in the woods, which had caused such woe.

Some tales haven’t left many completely at ease

Those that have been passed down through the centuries……….

Originally were quite frightening and even rather gory,

Yet……..my intentions upon writing this lengthy story,

Was to not frighten any children, though to make them aware.

For the sake of future generations to love and take care,

To not be greedy, or thoughtless, yet to be more giving

by protecting this planet on which we are all living!

This story centres around a 7year old girl, by the name of Fyrn

And about the many things which she comes to learn

As she fights for Fairness for a Future for her four furry/feathered friends and Mankind

Fyrn endeavours to become the voice to those who can’t speak and the eyes for the blind

Those who know not what path they should choose,

And for civilization who’s on the cusp, with so much to lose.

Still, one should never lose sight of their goal or their dream

Even though everything in life is not as it first may seem.

In an age where the ‘world wide web’ can be a tangled weave,

Which may catch one who is unaware, by one who may deceive,

There are mixed emotions where the Internet may even replace books,

Whilst cosmetic surgery is now giving young women such photo-shopped looks.

Many individuals are losing sight of what truly matters in life,

As a result……our future generations may be faced with much strife!

I’m hoping that this story shall turn things around,

As I hope across the planet that a balance is found.

One must make the best with what one has in any case,

As far as we know there’s just one planet earth, with one human race.

    Now……more than ever it’s a crucial requirement

To all do our bit, so as to help save the environment.

To help to teach others to be less selfish or pretentious,

To instead become more thoughtful and more conscientious.

In an age where society is becoming unforgiving and materialistic,

Our time has now come to be aware and more realistic,

So as to lessen our chances of becoming a statistic.

Whether we’re each to win or whether we’re all to lose,

May be determined by which path we choose!

For the sake of civilization and to continue our existence

It’s with finding a solution, we must show some persistence.

Put pressure on our political leaders to do much more,

As ‘climate change’ is something we no longer can ignore.

The scientific evidence is now becoming insurmountable,

Even the large ‘multi-national corporations’ should be held accountable.

There is wide spread corruption one may well & truly find,

As so many continue to keep their wealthy pockets lined!

Whilst forests continue to be logged, cleared & burned for palm oil plantations……

housing estates & grazing lands for stock, such as sheep or cattle……

I feel that Mother-nature continues to lose a long uphill battle!

In the words of ‘midnight oil’……nothing’s as precious as a hole in the ground,

As it’s in those mined areas nature is no longer found.

Many believe that ‘nature will take its course’,

Though Mother-nature is increasingly showing her force.

As she brings many individuals down to earth quite literally,

When widespread devastation is seen amongst piles of debris.

From hurricanes, cyclones, earthquakes and widespread drought,

Mother-nature may have the final word without any doubt.

Unfortunately, my tale won’t help prevent such devastation,

Yet ……my aim is to save our planet for the next generation!

Though just like a single tree that’s challenged when standing alone……

Especially when howling winds begin to roar……then down it is blown.

No doubt there’s more strength in numbers more or less,

Which is another thing in my story I’m attempting to stress.

One should voice their opinion, not sit in silence nor should one live in fear.

We should ‘plan it for the planet’, for many…...there’s not any new frontier!

Hopefully……one day……our species will see their way clear,

From a smoky, dust filled, polluted atmosphere.

For attitudes to start changing there is a great need,

In order for our future generations to thrive & succeed,

One can shelter and protect their children from harm to a degree,

Until one day they discover for themselves the harsh reality.

When they can’t adjust or fit into a changing society,

It may become difficult to overcome a disorder or an insecurity.

If it’s for the future of our planet that you have the slightest concern,

Then please do read this lengthy, yet ‘insightful’ story of Fyrn.

    The Downunder Bird

    ……crying to be heard!

Fyrn, a young girl (7years of age), bullied somewhat at school, she suffered from anxiety.

She lives with her parents (Theresa Green & Jack A Randa) & 8month old baby brother (Brack),

in a house, which backed onto a bush reserve.

Fyrn’s parents have much love for her, though their time is spent

tending to the needs of her baby brother somewhat, as he spent a lot of time sleeping

(more often than not), whilst the rest of the time he had trouble breathing when he was awake.

The doctors suspected that Brack had asthma, as he would wheeze with each breath he’d take.

Each week day upon her return home from school, Fyrn began to notice that the trees were

slowly disappearing, from the bushland/reserve behind her home.

Within a few weeks the bushland had been reduced to a handful of trees, which she could see

    from her bedroom window.

Debris, leaves, a few twigs & bare dirt remained where once stood majestic trees,

with a bountiful number of birds & wildlife.

Fyrn used to get great comfort from listening to the sounds which came from those trees in the

    nature reserve/bushland.

In particular the sounds of laughing kookaburras, as their laughter used to make Fyrn smile

& made her forget about her sorrows for a while.

After having just changed schools Fyrn found it hard to make friends.

When she wasn’t being bullied, she was made to feel isolated!

Fyrn’s family had recently moved from the city to the suburban outskirts,

once doctors had told her parents that Brack’s bad asthma wouldn’t improve

due to the smog in the city.

So, they felt an area with trees would be more beneficial for the health of both Brack & Fyrn.

As it’s a known fact that trees create oxygen!

One night, Fyrn was awoken in the dead of night, she could hear a faint cry.

She looked out from her upstairs bedroom window to a handful of trees,

which stood in the bushland by the boundary fence of her home.

It was a cloudy night, so after not being able to see anything……

she’d returned back to bed & went back to sleep.

The following day upon her return home from school, Fyrn noticed more trees had disappeared

……now only three majestic gum trees remained.

It was later that night, sound asleep, Fyrn was again awakened by a louder cry this time,

louder than the night before, she’d then again looked out of her upstairs bedroom window.

There was a full moon which shone brightly this particular night,

making it possible for Fyrn to see the outline of a bird which
