In the story "A Cigar and Bloodthirsty Wiener Dog", Ayla steps out of her apartment to find a trail of bloody footprints leading up the concrete path and stairs of her building. She finds an elderly man sprawled on the sidewalk and his leg covered in blood.

The next story "Bullets: A Love Heist" drops us right into the middle of a very uncomfortable high school reunion. After Deirdre introduces her date to an old friend, an old rumor about Deirdre's miserable high school love life comes back to haunt her. Who knew cold tea was still tea worth spilling? The question is: Is it all true?

In, "The Adults Are Working", Marisol and Esperanza have been adopted by Phillis and Charles, who take them on vacation to get acquainted. But their new 'parents' spend more time working than relaxing and the sisters aren't sure they want to be a part of this family. As they ponder their hypotheticals, they've grown used to an unfortunate feeling of abandonment.
