Amber Kallyn

One of those rare breeds, Amber Kallyn is an Arizona native who can trace her family’s history through six generations in the state. She lives with her four very active children. Included in the menagerie are four cats (though there’s always room for more) and an adorable baby ball python. Amber loves the paranormal, from dragons to werewolves to vampires. She’s currently at work on her next book, probably running around the house acting out a fight scene with her collection of swords and daggers. Or maybe, wishing she had claws to practice the other fight scenes. A voracious lover of the written word, Amber found at an early age that she could read fast. Really fast. She devours novels by the day, novellas by the hour, and is always looking to get her hands on more. Volume Four: Revenge

Most know of me or at least have heard my tale. Certainly you would recognize my crimson, hooded cloak. You've been regaled by the story of my battle with a wolf.

But as with most stories, that was only a small part of my life. And legends discard certain truths. Forgotten with each retelling was how the wolves I fought could also become men.

My beloved Jonah, too, remains shrouded in the mists of time. Nothing is mentioned of all we meant to one another. Of the family we created and sent out into the world. No one speaks of the bonds we shared, or how he changed my life forever.

Yet, after becoming his, tumultuous times lay ahead. Like my love, I became a wolf, tugged by the call of the moon. I learned the tales Gran told long ago were all too real. That there were others, like Jonah and I, living in the Dark Forest just outside my village.

And one of them wished to destroy the bonds of our love. A monster willing to do anything to force me to become his.

Jonah and I refused to let anyone harm the love so precious to us. Yet, neither of us knew just how far he would go...

If you are truly curious, then sit for a while.

Join me and discover for yourself the complete tale.

The truth behind the woman with the dark red riding hood.

    Once Upon A Time…

T ell me another story of your past, Samantha Grant cajoled her lover.

Firelight flickered over Jonah's deeply tanned skin, still damp from their recent lovemaking. Longish dark hair framed his face, softening sharp, masculine features. His piercingly intense golden gaze mesmerized.

Nestled against him, in a cocoon of blankets in front of the hearth, Sami burrowed closer. She crossed her arms on top of his muscled chest and rested her chin on them, staring into those expressive gold eyes.

Jonah brushed back a lock of Sami's long red hair, tucked it behind her ear, then grinned. Aren't you tired yet, my darling heart? You've about worn me out.

She smiled at his reference to the insatiable, wild heat growing inside of her recently.

Everything seemed so domestic—this night, the two of them.

    Here.

    Like this.

Safe and sound in the cottage Sami had grown up in.

Even if Gran was no longer here.

But this same scene could be found in any other home around the nearby small village. Most likely, in any village or town in the great wide world.

And yet, she and Jonah were not like everyone else, though none looking upon them would guess what they hid so deep inside.

Jonah could shift from man to wolf.

Mostly by choice, but for the three nights of the full moon, when the change came unbidden.

A little over two weeks ago, during the last full moon, Sami herself had been bitten.

    Not by Jonah.

But instead, a dark monstrous beast.

One who wanted her for himself.

She shuddered, thinking of the evil insanity of George.

The previous full moon, he'd had some of his men kidnap her. Nearly killed both Jonah and Sami.

    Thankfully, they'd escaped.

Ironically, it was partly due to the help of one of George's wolves, the white pawed Kaleb. Why the giant of a man hadn't stopped Sami, she still didn't understand, even after days, weeks, of hard thought.

Time during which she and Jonah had remained alert, wary for another attack. For something. Anything.

    Surprisingly, danger hadn't struck.

    At least, not yet.

In fact, those after Sami and her love had mysteriously, completely, disappeared.

The day after their escape, she'd badgered Jonah until he agreed to sneak back to the enemy camp. Check on the others' safety.

There was no telling what an insane monster like George would do to his people.

After all, Sami had wounded the man greatly.

Her hands shifting to slashing, slicing claws. A fiery torch shoved into the man's eye.

Only later had she learned how badly fire could hurt those like them.

Then, Jonah fought the black beast to free Sami.

    They'd won.

    Escaped.

    Yes. George must be furious.

Sami could only hope his people, like the giant of a man Kaleb, were still well.

So Jonah finally—after securing Sami's promise not to step foot outside the cabin until his return—headed back out to the Dark Forest. A forbidding place only a short distance from both her home, and the nearby village.

A dark place where, she now knew well, monsters really did roam.

Hours later, Jonah returned, thankfully safe and well. Except, his strained expression made her fear the worst.

    Only, it hadn't been horrid.

    More... confusing.

After living in the same area of the Dark Forest long enough to erect a huge communal cabin, and other, smaller structures, George apparently up and moved his people. Jonah couldn't find even one paw print or wolf hair to give clue to where they'd run off to.

Considering George's people were numerous enough to be a small village unto themselves, their ages ranging from children to the elderly, such a fast, secretive move left Sami with an ominous roiling in her gut that wouldn't go away.

Jonah voiced the hope they'd left the area. Perhaps for good.

    Sami couldn't believe it.

She remembered too clearly not only the possessive hunger, but later, the killing fury, in George's crazed, wolf-crimson glare. His twisted expression turning from possessive lust to murderous rage.

She had a feeling the man wouldn't give up.

Only, she wasn't sure he continued to want her as mate.

More like he wanted her head.

    Jonah's too.

And yet, they'd had almost two weeks of peace. Sami could at least find some hope that it lasted. With no sign of the evil wolf—or any of his fighters, most
