About this ebook
Avatar: The Last Airbender Meets The Gateway Trilogy
Three notorious prisoners escape a maximum-security prison and make their way to the quiet Upper Ohio Valley…
...The Elemental media remains silent, acting as though the breakout never occurred and silencing those who know otherwise
My two newest friends also know the truth, given their connections to the legendary Sentinels. A fighting force infiltrated by a group of racketeers responsible for covering up the breakout.
Skeeter and Daya may be sixteen and limited in their element-wielding ability, but it doesn't stop them from dragging me along as we seek to reveal the truth. Not only are these prisoners more than capable of murder; so is the power-wielding political faction responsible for their breakout. So yeah, odds are I won't live to see my next birthday.
Liza Fury takes place during the events of Book I in the Terrian Chronicles Series, Tarja Titan. If you're a fan of shared universes, complex plots, and urban fantasy entwined with epic fantasy tropes, odds are you'll fall in love with Liza Fury and the entire Terrian Chronicles Series.

My Twisted, Freaking Backstory
August 2020
There are a few important things you need to know about the Upper Ohio Valley, located on the northern panhandle of West Virginia and eastern Ohio.
One, it’s full of dead mill towns. Poverty runs high in each, and the aging area has seen its young talent bolt for Pittsburgh, which sits forty-five minutes east of my hometown. If you can call Pottery Addition a town with its two streets, one gas station, and church. Or as I call it, Poverty Addition.
Across the Ohio River, nearby Weirton, West Virginia’s not a half-bad town. And before COVID hit, it grew into an area powerhouse. Heck, even with COVID restrictions in place, Weirton’s still setting the standard in a region that resembles something out of a Bruce Springsteen song.
Oh, and it’s an area I no longer fit into, thanks to my Fire Elemental ability.
See, I was just a normal girl who liked studying economics, politics, and all social sciences. Not the stuff we learn in school, but the Austrian School of Thought. Mises, Rothbard, Sowell, they’re my idols.
Before a mysterious man showed up at my parents’ doorstep back in April, I planned on continuing my studies at the prestigious Hillsdale up in Michigan two years from today.
Not bad for a girl who grew up in Pottery Addition and spent her high school days inside the crumbling building of Thomas High.
Anyway, my life forever changed after this man showed and informed my parents of my rare ability to control fire. Something I hid from them considering how poorly they treated a girl I thought all my life was a half-sister.
When he whisked her to some magic school called Celestial University, I kissed my bedroom here on the house’s main floor goodbye.
I was loved...and always willing to take part in bullying the supposed half-sister.
Listen, you can’t blame me. I thought she was dad’s illegitimate daughter, which is why I hated her. Only to realize she was a Spirit Elemental, I think the man said. Oh, and that mysterious man also had news for Stef and I—he’s my half-brother and a Wind Wielder. It means he has the ability to control the air element, like Aang in Avatar: The Last Airbender. But instead of using a staff, he has a sword. Weird, huh?
Stef loves me. I know it. But if she doesn’t play Mom and Dad’s game, she’ll join me. It’s blatant child abuse since I’m only sixteen. Part of me wishes Stef bypasses them and tells someone to get me out of this prison. But as summer winds down, Mom pays me a visit. It’s the first time she’s stepped into the basement since April.

My (Other) Discovery
Get upstairs and get back to your room. You got school starting next week. I have some of Stef’s old clothes for you to wear.
She presses a sheet of paper in my hand.
What’s this?
"Can’t you read?"
Mom—
"Don’t Mom me. And get ready. You’re moving Stef’s stuff in today. That paper’s your checklist. Remember to bring your mask."
My brother said Elementals are immune to—
"You’re wearing it even if your kind is immune."
Yes, Mom.
I sound as respectful as I can, knowing the physical abuse she’ll project if she even suspects backtalk. And I’ve been on the receiving end of her blows twice in the last week after failing to reach her standard in my list of daily chores.
I guess until I officially become part of Elemental Society, I’m stuck living like a Benight. I think that’s what my
