Coastal Redwoods
Humboldt Redwood Forest Single_tonemappedWHAT IS BIODIVERSITY?
Biodiversity is a term for a variety of different living species on the planet Earth. This includes not only animal species, but also plant species, such as trees. This term can describe a world where there is not one dominant species, or multiple species going extinct.
Big Basin Redwood State Park | 3-2-14This is a world where habitats are not destroyed, but instead shared. There are predators, prey, and some things in between.
Biodiversity is possible when humans discontinue practices that put animals in danger of extinction. This includes minimizing poaching, garbage pollution, air pollution, and habitat destruction. Biodiversity can be achieved by spreading awareness and making it a global concern and effort. With biodiversity comes harmony for all of Earth’s species.
What are Coastal Redwoods?
The largest living animal in the world is the Blue Whale. The largest insect is the Giant Weta. But the tallest living thing in the world is the coastal redwood, or Sequoia Sempervirens.
