INTRODUCTION TO THE SECRET WORLD OF DREAM ANIMALS AND PLANTS.
If you have read the previous book entitled. ‘The Secret World of Dream Children’. You will know, that children that appear in Plant world. Are dream children, thought or dreamt about, by humans. They arrive in Plant World with skills and talents that they begin using almost immediately.
The same applies with all living things that appear in Plant World. As everything, such as animals, birds, trees and plants, have thoughts, and dreams, just like humans.
When they arrive. They begin to notice everything around them. Some go exploring, such as, Debbie Bee and Esme the Egret. Some become pets of Plant people, who care for all living things, which is why they are vegetarians.
CHAPTER ONE - THE THREE HEROES
All animals, except maybe for moles, are welcome to visit, and roam around the Old Oak Garden Centre, whenever they please. Usually, one of the plant people, will walk round with them. They make sure they don’t nibble a precious hedgerow, or trample underfoot, a delicate flower.
One animal, that does not need a minder, is Primrose. She is a light brown colored donkey, with big ears. She is quite intelligent, but you wouldn’t know it, when looking at her. She strolls, from one part of the Center, to another, without a thought in her mind, or a care in the world. There is no lack of food, as she simply puts her head through an open door. If the owner is at home, they will give her a carrot. If not, they will leave some food, on the kitchen table, for her to eat.
Today, was like every other day. The sun was shining, and the plant people, were busy growing, and tending the plants. Everyone, she passed said Good morning Primrose
, with their minds. They usually stroked her, or tickled her chin, which she loved. As on most mornings, she went over to the large storage shed, were Barker lived and worked. To see if there was anything he wanted delivering.
Good morning Primrose, I’m so pleased to see you. I have these fence posts, that Widget needs over at Wiggly Hollow. How many can you carry?
asked Barker.
Primrose had a look at them, then stamped her foot, ten times.
I know you are keen to help, but that’s a lot of weight, even for a donkey, as strong as you. Let’s load you up. If you find they are too heavy, you can always make two trips
suggested Barker.
Primrose, nodded her head, and Barker fitted a special harness around her middle. He then started loading the posts, but always checking with Primrose, that she could take the weight.
After making sure they were secure, and well balanced. Barker gave Primrose, a bucket of water, and a piece of sugar cane, that was her favorite food. Then, off she went, at a slow and leisurely pace.
Along the way, Plant People would ask, where she was headed. She simply lifted her tail, and curled it, into the shape of a pig’s tail. They immediately knew, that she was headed for Wiggly Hollow.
As she strode up the hill, just outside the garden center, she met her closest friend, Herbert the goat. He was chewing on an old boot. Herbert, ate anything and everything.
Plant People always made sure, they were upwind of Herbert, as he was very smelly, most of the time. Primrose, of course, didn’t mind the smell, and enjoyed his company.
Like most animals, they had a language all their own. It was made up of pictures, smells, and feelings, that other animals understood.
Primrose told him, where she was going, and asked, if he would like to join her? He did, but continued chewing, the old boot. They had a long talk, about objects found in country lanes. Herbert gave his opinion, on the ones, that tasted the best.
As they neared the top of the hill, they could see into the next valley. Far below was Wiggly Hollow. They could hear Widget hammering in nails, but couldn’t see him, because of all the trees. To the right, they saw a herd of llamas, on the brow of the hill. They were happily eating the grass, or just sitting, watching the world go by, with their long necks.
I wonder if Carlotta, would like to join us?
burped Herbert.
I’ll call her
replied Primrose.
She gave a loud Heehaw, that could be heard, across the valley. All the llamas immediately, turned their heads, to see where the noise came from. They all recognized Primrose’s voice. Carlotta, until that moment, had been fast asleep. She stood up, and said Goodbye
, to her fellow llamas. Then headed towards Primrose and Herbert. When they met, they greeted each other by rubbing their heads together.
Hola
said Carlotta, which is Hello
in Spanish.
The three, then strolled down the hill, towards the sound of banging.
Just in time,
said Widget. I’ve just ran out of posts.
Widget carefully lifted off the new posts. He then, asked Primrose, if she would take, the old and rotting posts, to Dungo, in the next valley. Dungo would re-cycle them, in some way.
Primrose nodded her head. Widget started to load them on her back, but there were too many, for her to carry, so Carlotta offered to carry the rest.
Llamas, are like donkeys, in that, they can carry heavy loads up mountain sides. Widget, of course, made sure, they were not too heavy.
When all were loaded, they headed for the next valley. They were in no rush, and often stopped to admire the countryside, and to talk to other animals along the way.
CHAPTER TWO - THE THREE HEROES RESCUE DUNGO’S ANIMALS
As they started to enter the next valley, Carlotta
suddenly stopped, and sniffed the air, and said, I smell smoke
.
Maybe Dungo’s having a bonfire
suggested Herbert.
No way, replied Primrose. He recycles everything. Something must be wrong.
They all broke into a trot, to see where the smoke, was coming from. They soon found out. Ahead of them, beyond the river, was Dungo’s house and stables. Where he kept his cart horses overnight, and any ill animal, that he was looking after.
Flames, were leaping from the roof of the house, and there was no sign of Dungo.
He must be on his rounds,
cried Herbert. What can we do?
Firstly, we’ve got to make sure, there are no animals in the stables
commanded Primrose.
All three, now ran as fast as they could, still carrying the posts. They ran over the wooden bridge, towards the stables. By now, the flames were beginning to jump to other parts of the roof. It wouldn’t be long, before the flames, reached the stables.
As they neared the stables, they could hear the sounds of frightened animals, unable to escape, to the open courtyard.
Help us, Herbert, to get rid of these posts
pleaded Primrose and Carlotta.
Herbert immediately started gnawing the ropes, that held the posts, until they gave way, and fell to the ground.
Primrose was the first to be free. While Herbert gnawed free, the ropes on Carlotta, Primrose headed for the stable door, that was secured with a long horizontal wooden post.
She turned around with her back facing the post, and kicked with both hind legs. The post lifted, part of the way, from the fittings on either end. She tried again. This time the post flew in the air, and landed on the ground, just missing her.
By this time, Herbert and Carlotta were beside her. All
