Intro: Matilda is a baby genius. There are indicators and behaviours which she exhibits instinctively. Roald Dahl has created a round character in Matilda as she needs guidance in navigating relationships. Miss Honey is one of the characters who provide guidance and nurturing in a collaborative manner. Above all her instinctively balanced maturity and wisdom dictate her choices setting her apart and ahead of the rest.
Overall, the themes in Matilda deal with the impact of extremes. Maturity demands we outgrow immaturity. The human condition can’t guarantee balance, but a competent maturity demands it. Extremes are an integral part of youth.
