    The Powers Within is a book that was written purposed to enlighten and encourage the reader. When you read this book, the hope is that because of my experiences I incorporated into it you will look upon your career in the medical field with a new light and a new perspective. I hope you will find this book not only enlightening but educational through practical applications.
    The many different situations you will find yourself in will be set on different levels; from heart breaking, to humorous, to exhausting. But this is the life of those who have careers in the medical field. Through it all, you will be able to walk away with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that you were able to make a difference in a complete stranger’s life.
    By reading this book, I feel like you will have a better narrative of what your chosen field consists of: the good, the bad, and the ugly. You will face each day as an opportunity to do something dramatic that will change a person’s life and if you do it right you will give that person (your patient) a new hope and possibly a new beginning. On the other hand, in hopeless situations you will be able to give the patient and family the support they will so gravely need.

    I was born and raised in the Mid-west. I always loved writing, especially stories and poetry. I like drawing, coloring pictures and taking pictures of my 8 grandchildren. I have been married twice. My husband and I have been together for over 40 years.In 1995 I graduated from nursing school as an LPN. Prior to this I taught kindergarten and preschool and managed to medical clinics.In 2000, I moved to the southern state of Louisiana and continued my nursing. In 2007, I graduated from Northwestern State University with an Associate Degree in Nursing. In 2008, I started my career in the emergency department.My other hobbies include hunting, walking in the woods and fixing southern dishes. The best part of my life is family, which I respect and love dearly every single one. I wrote this book because I felt the pressures of others being judgmental of people. My goal was and still is to “TREAT EVERYONE WITH RESPECT AND DIGINITY.” No matter what they come in the doctor’s office, hospital or emergency room.
