About this ebook

Tyler Honeycutt’s life is nothing special. He spends every day typing away in an anonymous corporation with nothing and no one to liven things up. That was until a charming stranger catches his eye.

In a sea of company dude/bros, Dean Merriman holds Ty’s undivided attention. Not only is he deliciously handsome, but his naughty, crooked smile is what dreams are made of.

The last thing Ty would ever imagine doing is talking to this sexy mystery man and ruining the perfect illusion. But when Dean shows an unexpected gallant streak, Ty is positively smitten.

Already lost in a fantasy world of love’s endless possibilities, Ty can’t help but think the invitation he finds on his desk to an exclusive early Halloween bash has something to do with Dean. Where this invitation leads isn’t the only surprise in store for Ty. Sometimes you’ve got to be tricked to truly enjoy your treat.

While I actually liked Tyler and Dean, the whole HBIC was so over the top heinous that all I kept thinking was that she needs to be fired. I wanted to see that.

Tricked and Treated - E.V. Anthony

Chapter 1: The Staircase

A cog does not concern itself with the function of the machine. It just turns. And that’s just how Tyler Honeycutt—Ty to those who knew him best—saw his days at the office.

He had worked at the large anonymous corporation for a few years. He found a position he liked more than others he’d had and stuck with it year in and year out. The desks near him were filled with an array of personalities who occasionally cycled around to different departments, but most, like Tyler, remained. They were other gears in the bureaucratic apparatus designed to boost Yes Men further and further up the ladder until their heads were lopped off once they’d risen as far as they could, when their salaries outweighed their usefulness.

All that changed one day when the sound of booming laughter sliced through his concentration. Ty’s desk faced the bottom of a stairwell, where two standard-issue dude/bros had crossed paths.

There he is! Dude erupted, clapping Bro on the back maybe a little too roughly.

You know it! Bro replied, feigning a couple of jabs to the ribs of the overly animated Dude.

There was a loud round of a lot of words that ultimately held no real meaning as the two parties jockeyed for attention. Corporate dogs sniffing each other’s asses to see whose shit smelt deliciously worse. Dogs and Company Men were both so gross. At least dogs have redeeming qualities like unconditional love and loyalty.

There were always people ascending and descending the stairs, but if he tracked all their comings and goings, Ty would get nothing accomplished at all. Temporarily derailed, he began to turn his attention back to his twin computer screens when he caught a curious sight.

There, halfway up the lower section of stairs, was an impossibly attractive man. He was slowed up by the dog and pony show at the base of the steps and
