Foreword
Pramod Patil, an emerging author of Khandesh, his literary piece The Dead Labyrinth
is the genuine reflection of the contemporary rural and urban life. He has meticulously utilized literary genre for imparting various lesions which are the utmost need of the hour. The novel is the blending of many contemporary burning issues like family jealousy, family union, family reunion, political suppression, the dilemma of the central character Kapil who has undergone through it. It is the story of every human being with delightful instructions.
The prime facet of the novel is the simplicity in narration, simple diction for the simple people could be the right expression for the delineation. Another traits of the literary piece is the social concern, unique, universal and everlasting, intermingling of myths, legends and contemporary relevance of the society.
Kapil, the hero of the story who is the child of the farmer couple Raman and Nirmala. They didn’t have any child of their own, they found him in the campus of the temple of Lord Shiva. Kapil was living desire of Raman and Nirmala. Raman, who wanted to be something in the future but due to the poor economic condition of the family as well as his father’s passive attitude towards education he had to wind off his all dreams and desires. But then he wanted to content his all dreams in the form of Kapil. The climax of the story is really an interesting asset for the readers which unfolds the human life and its philosophy.
I find myself quite lucky for having the opportunity-cum-honour of writing the foreword to such literary piece. The stories are the fine blend of fantasy and reality. The brief summary of the story in the beginning gives clearer idea of the story to the reader and the glossary provided at the end of each short story by the author himself clears the doubts arising of the diction.

I am truly pleased to get the opportunity and honour to write the foreword for the emerging author of North Maharashtra, Mr Pramod P. Patil’s book ‘The Dead Labyrinth'. As we know, it is not an easy task to write a novel or any book but Pramod tried his best and it is appreciable because he belongs from a place where to write in English is not less than a dare but still he dares to establish his writing in the literary world. Pramod has published two books before this and therefore I am really happy. This time he requested me to give forewords for his book, I was excited about this.
The way he is dealt with the subject is appreciable and the theme he chose is a close snapshot of several people. Kapil the protagonist of the story faced many dilemmas in his life. All the incidents are arranged very skilfully by him. The incident on the riverside, especially the speech of Hermit is motivational. And the scenario in the prison again shows us a positive thing about crime and the concept of criminals what society thinks about them.
I hope this would be a very nice experience for readers to read this novel. I advise you to enjoy the reading. I would like to give best wishes to Pramod Patil and his novel and I hope he will continue his pen to bring such beautiful stories for us as well as he will be the inspiration for new upcoming writers from North Maharashtra.
Best of luck to you, Pramod and his ‘ The Dead Labyrinth'

Preface
Everyone is free to live life according to his/her desire, can fulfil dreams and it’s a legal right to every human being but it doesn’t mean that you can live as you wish that would be harmful to the family or society. Everyone is a social animal because still, we are learnings many things. The human being is still incomplete for what we are doing our best every day. Love attraction, engagement, frustration, and suicide this is archetypal in the present era. But is it essential? The last era has completely changed the definition of love and relations.
This story focuses on the divine love of the mother and father for their child. Raman and Nirmala both are very kind and generous but unfortunately, Nirmala couldn’t be a mother but God has given them a chance to be parents by giving them an infant. Goddess of Misfortune ensued the child Kapil which was left by someone on the campus of the temple of God without knowing.
Kapil has faced many problems and still, he knows how to stand. By profession, he was a teacher of math, but The calculations of his life went wrong. Today every person is facing a new problem in life, or as we say the life is a battle itself. The bad patch is very common in life. A bad patch comes in everyone’s life Which is very important for us to know our capacities and abilities. It is the only way where we can understand the people in our life, their real faces, and nature.
Our people must live with us because when we are together we aren’t afraid to die or we are always ready to die even. Mistakes are common in life but by one single mistake, we can't judge the character of the person. The question is that whether it was a mistake or not because it is a mistake for the world but why the particular person did this in that particular situation this also should be noticed. If any hungry man steals the food then It will be an injustice to call him a criminal. these are the true things who can think rationally about it.
But think when one person is punished without any crime, he carried to the jail for the crime which hadn’t been done by him, how horrified it is for him and when he comes to know the fellow behind him, more heartbreaking for him. Such moment how can we want to live. Kapil has the same feeling about it. Somethings we can't leave in life. Thousand times we try to ignore the wrong people, yet they always appear in front of us as our ominous.
This story will give you a beautiful experience of life and death. The social and domestic dilemma of the central character. I want that everyone should understand the person. If we just find out the lack in person then it's very difficult to live the life. Life is very beautiful just enjoy it with full energy.
Thanks !!!

It is the most tremendous moment for any author to bring his work of art in front of the most loving public who can decide your future when he has faced the problems of the life and want to spite out his feelings of heart to someone. For many years I wanted to publish a work that was in my mind. But it is a very happy moment for me when I am going to publish this work.
It is very essential to keep your mind cool and calm in any Problem. So many problems came into my life. The way I faced them was depressing me either increased the thoughts of nervousness. But I am very lucky in this matter that I got good friends who always help me with my problems. My father Mr Prakash N. Patil, Mother Smt. Vaishali P. Patil and my brother Mr Ganesh P. Lonely life is quite like a slow poison. Many have to face such type of life, at least once in their life span but it is very necessary to have someone’s loyal and supporting company, not even that but they should always appreciate your work and force you to move forward in your life. Thanks to all my relatives and friends who always stood by my side and gave me hand to assist in my critical time. Without their moral support, it was quite difficult for me to publish such fantastic work.
