About this ebook

Everyone has a breaking point. What if the pressure of an adult and the real world is put on a kid? A kid can be exposed to the evils of society at such a young age and they have to cope with that feeling for the rest of their lives. When someone visually experiences something that brings them pain, they are left frozen and vulnerable. Each individual represents a complex reality on the arc of life.

This text is a representation of the meanings behind every situation. For example, you can be on the road and see this upcoming car that is traveling over the suggested speed limit. This person could have lost a loved one and are now rushing them to a hospital. This person could be attempting to commit suicide due to his emotions. We will not know the answer because on the road, everyone seems normal but in reality, it may not be that way.

Playmillaz

Playmillaz was born on February 11, 1999 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised by a single mother since he was the age of five years old. He had an outstanding grade point average of 3.8 and graduated early from Hunter High School in the year of 2017. After high school, he proceeded to continue with his education by going to college. He started taking writing more seriously other than just essays after he graduated. He wanted to create something that was unique but relatable at the same time. Writing classes were taken while attending college. He started to write a book called The Kid on That Corner which inspired him to become a writer. The book is a reflection of things he has seen, felt, and experienced while growing up. He wanted to let the audience feel something they have never felt before. He thought about ideas that could really make the viewer rethink how a childhood is supposed to be portrayed but is turned into something ugly. The goal behind the whole book was to put oneself inside a kid’s perspective of losing everything and still moving on with his life. The book cover is purple because it’s a representation of the two colors red and blue. Red and blue are two colors which are the two sides that a situation has no matter what the topic may be. No topic is always one-sided due to the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The evils of money, family, and friends should be shown later on in life, but the character is exposed to it earlier than anybody else. A kid should focus on enjoying the moment, but he’s knocked down and is too afraid to even take a step outside. Being immobile is a scary feeling that the audience will experience while reading. What did I just witness? If I rub my eyes, will this go away and I can wake up from this dream? He has been working on this book for two whole years and quit his daily job just to put time into the project. His goal is to influence and be an inspiration to people that seek guidance. The feeling of being on your knees is heartbreaking; like the whole world has fallen right in front of you. Seeing yourself in the mirror, but you don’t see a reflection because you haven’t felt like yourself lately. When all seems good, but it shatters into crumbs the next day is one of the most important lessons to learn while growing up. Feelings are temporary, and he wants to showcase this thought process.

You fall for the words but never what you see. You try so hard to find where to be.

Now look at yourself, you forget how to feel free.

You pray and beg on your knees.

You die and seem to have given up.

I can tell you have been through everything you could do, but is it enough?

I thank you for getting this far, I hope you reach the point where you can walk again without the use of a moving car.

I wanted to let you know you have worth.

Don’t let anyone tell you what to do and what will work.

You believe in everyone else, but not yourself; why? All you have to do is just pick a side.

It just happened and it’s far from saving.

You know how to fix these issues; all it takes is waiting.

    Chapter 1: Clarity

What do you want me to tell you? If you are here to listen to the story, well, don’t worry, you’ll soon find out what it takes to be in the shoes of the main character. This is not a diary but a representation of an outline of a life from a seed to death from certain circumstances. Each shoe worn on both feet are not what you expect with laces and a sole on the bottom for support, it’s not even close. These shoes aren’t fresh out the box like each person expects it to be. Are you ready and prepared for what is coming your way? Let’s hope so.

In these series of events, you can have two options inside your head; you either believe what has been happening from a kid’s perspective or disbelieve everything in a short glance between both your eyes and walk away with no hesitation. The feeling of immobility and a sense of urgency are always present but hidden in the shadows. Dreams are the only escape to a different world and that is why sleep is always looked forward to.

It all started in the summer of 2005. Streetlights were gleaming upon one side of Darren’s face while leaves were brushing against the oak of the trees. The only sound that he could hear was the rattling of the bicycle chains as he was pedaling consistently. A quiet night was odd considering that he belongs to a hectic city.

The brake on the wheels were pressing against the rubber of the tires to reach to his final destination. He was in the zone known as the state of mind while pedaling with each motion. Other people would be asked where their sanctuary would be located at personally, but with Darren, he was different. His type of sanctuary would be anywhere with his bike, and it didn’t matter the conditions of that statement, considering he had reached his last stop of the night. Finally, after three hours of riding, he approached his apartment on the 56th Street where there would only be one streetlight on at that hour, which made Darren cautious.

The stair steps were creaking with every step that had been placed on it. There was no area of the boards that would make a quieter sound. Quietly, as hands had come in contact with the metal doorknob, he could hear yelling through the hard-concrete door.

What should I do? said Darren while he was pacing down between the first and third steps on the stairs.

The door was opened so slow that even a snail could make it across the driveway at that pace. Quickly as legs could move, he aimed for his bedroom while crouching behind the couch. Darren at all cost was trying to avoid eye contact with his parents as he saw both of them arguing, which felt like it was never going to end. Bill papers were scattered, dirty dishes stacked to the top, laundry wasn’t finished, and it was literally endless. To the sound of it, an object was thrown into the cabinet viciously and broke into pieces.

It seemed that they were distracted at that very moment and there was the only chance. It was better to not get involved, but Darren was always taught to help out in any situation that gets thrown his way. For now, it’s not the right time. As exhausted and sweaty as any human can be, Darren collapsed onto the bed that happened to be in the center of the room. Relieved and satisfied, eyes were closing as the visions of light inside the room faded to black. Not even ten minutes passed by when all of a sudden, the door violently opened to the point it nearly broke the closet behind it.

Darren carefully pulled the cover to see that father was standing in front of the bed with no emotion being presented.

He had asked, Is everything okay, Dad? even though he already witnessed the scene of the crime but didn’t want to spill the beans.

The father responded with a deep sigh, You really think I didn’t notice you just open the front door and tried to sneak in from outside to my house? You’re a funny man.

Darren’s heart felt like it stopped at that very moment. No words had been exchanged. Darren tried to relocate himself to another room by gently walking to avoid what was about to happen, but suddenly, his dad had locked the door behind him.

At this brief moment, he locked eyes with his dad but that’s when Darren finally realized that something was very wrong. His eyes looked a bit red and watery. His dad really wasn’t the emotional type of person and to see this was substantially new. Soon after a few seconds glimpse of his eyes, he decided to push Darren towards the bed. He tried everything he could to escape that room but his father was just too strong.

It turned out that his dad had started to put his whole body onto Darren’s to the point where breathing was difficult.

You know this will hurt me more than it hurts you and I know I have to do this, said the father as his voice sounded shaken.

The rattling of a belt being played with was heard while Darren was closing his eyes, praying that this will be over soon. If Darren could explain the pain that was inflicted onto his back, it could be compared to going down the playground slide with no friction in 100-degree weather. After about a few whips, Darren had pleaded with agony.

You’re not my real father! Stop it, you can’t hit me! screamed Darren.

Henry held the belt in the air for a brief second and just decided to walk out. Tears had filled up the room with echoes that vibrated in the room. Eyes were closed while Darren’s head was resting upon his own knees. His lungs made him breathe at a rapid pace, which at points seemed uncontrollable. Emotions started building up the room and the environment turned very negative in an instant. Back against the wall with no type of clue of anything, Darren had not lifted his head from his knees just yet but decided to get his anger out in some way. Anger can destroy who we truly are. Fists were balled up with a face that was about to explode. Darren wanted to break something to the point where the item cannot be recognized to the naked eye. The lamp had this mocking face on it which was haunting. With no consideration of thought, he lifted his small hands and grabbed the lamp but was stopped. Darren realized that he was confronted by his mother. Shocked and surprised, mother persisted to let Darren know what was about to happen.

Son, you are going to do what I tell you and we are going to drop this lamp together, said his mom as she gently whistled to keep me calm.

Darren responded while still wiping tears away, Why does he do that? I don’t have to call him a dad just because you labeled him that.

As you can probably tell, we had an argument, his mom argued as she was trying to hold Darren’s hand but all he did was shoved her hands away.

I don’t care what you argued about, just don’t blame anything on me! he screamed at the top of his lungs to where it felt like the ceiling was going to collapse. In desperation for a solution, his mother tried to bargain with him by giving Darren a new toy. The toy can be described as one of those Power Ranger action figures, but it was no use. Darren had already received something similar on his birthday last year when turning nine years old. Dissatisfied with the gift, Darren decided to shove his mom off the bed. His mother had collapsed so hard to where she ended up landing on his built tower of Legos.

Look what you did! I worked hours on end just to have the final product and it’s your fault! yelled Darren while he was on the ground picking up the remaining pieces. His mom persisted to help him try to recover all the lost pieces but only made him more frustrated.

Please just get out, said Darren while he got up to open the door for her.

She got up from the wrinkled blanket that had been previously folded to do just that. If any words were spoken, it could backfire and cause a scene of unfortunate events. His mother didn’t want to make matters worse and decided to just leave but before she did, she had said something that made Darren reconsider his words.

One day, you’ll need me and I won’t be there for you,
