The Power of Weakness - Hilari Seagears

    The

    power

    of weakness

As I read The Power of Weakness, I was amazed by the strength and sustaining power that Hilari had through her times of sadness and discouragement. I am reminded that no matter what we go through, the Lord promises to never leave us or forsake us. I am also reminded that the Lord will restore all that we think we have lost. Whoever reads this, I hope you learn that God has a plan and a purpose for every aspect of your life and can even turn your sadness into great joy if you hold on to Him.

    - Bobby Seagears

I read the entire book without blinking! Not once did I put it down! Hilari wrote with such conviction and authority. I could not go to sleep after reading this. I am not quite sure how I managed to finish it through my tears. Passion leaps off the pages.

    - Rebecca Wilson

I finished reading The Power of Weakness, and it is an amazing story of Hilari’s journey! I am so proud of what she has written, but more than that, I am proud of how she has allowed God to change her heart and mold her life into the woman she is becoming.

On my journey with the Lord, I have had the opportunity to read many books about inner healing, the loss of a loved one, and being encouraged in difficult times. But I have never read a book that will take you on a journey of such love and grace and power. The Power of Weakness is a book that not only describes the love of God but also transmits hope and grace to be able to be healed of the loss. Each page outlines the grace and love of God, providing hope and healing. This book has been inspired by the Holy Spirit to bring a breakthrough to hearts that feel burdened and imprisoned. It is a book of healing, liberation, and restoration so that each individual can stay focused on the calling that God has for them.

The anointing of God is on each word because it bears the marks of Christ. Her testimony is the true gospel.

    - Ingrid Paz

This book is written by a beautiful young woman—one I have had the pleasure of knowing the entirety of her life. I have watched her grow and go through life with amazing grace. There is a beauty that exudes from her that is unparalleled. The words in this book are from the heart of a true woman of God. An overcomer, a soldier, a worshiper, a wife, a sister, a friend…a mother. Through this book she freely and truthfully shares her experiences on this journey called life—ups, downs, good times and bad, gain and loss. She speaks her truth (which is many times lost in an effort to say the right thing). In her weakness she found God to be her strength, and through that she has been propelled into the ministry He laid out just for her. May the truths she speaks ring true for you. May your faith increase, and may you be encouraged to take the next step on your journey.

The Power of Weakness is about a journey - a spiritual journey that directed Hilari to share her most intimate thoughts with others. She did not share her story for personal gain, but for God’s glory! Hilari found her God-given purpose while going through life’s troubles! I pray as you read this book it will reveal to you the inevitable spiritual journey everyone must take. All of us must yield, concede, surrender, and submit OUR destiny to the amazing providence of God!

I pour my life onto these pages:

In honor of God, my Father and Savior. Jesus, You are my everything. Thank you for showing me my purpose.

In honor of an amazing husband, Bobby Seagears,

the man who loves me unconditionally and taught me that there is no greater blessing than God’s presence.

As a gift to my mother, Traci Wilson, who has been a spiritual force in my life. Her courage and tenacity have influenced my journey beyond words. There is no one like her.

In memory of my father, William J. Wilson Sr., and my pastor, Dr. Randy Valimont. Much of my journey involves their life, their influence, and even their passing.

In memory of my guardians and heartbeats, Angel, Jordan, Christian-Noel, and Baby Seagears. Thank you. Your lives and legacies have drastically changed mine. I needed you.

I dedicate this entire book to my sister Whitney Jacobs and my sister-friend, Keyla Delaney.

    INTRODUCTION

    MY MOTHER’S MESSAGE

    I

f you think your life is worthless, you need to know how it began. These are the words my mother spoke over me years before I would crave the desire to give up.

I’m not supposed to be here. The innocence of my life almost vanished as quickly and as unknowingly as my conception. In plain terms, I almost died before I was even born. No one would have known. No one would have grieved me. I would’ve just been… gone.

It seems unexplainable how God is endeared to every detail of our lives. Over time, I’ve discovered that everything happens on purpose, for a purpose. After experiencing three miscarriages, I stand behind this proclamation as if I birthed it myself (pun most definitely intended).

As I broadcast the peculiar route of my journey of loss, I begin with this personal note. Below is a letter written to me by my mom, just weeks after I found out I was pregnant for the first time. I was overwhelmed, scared, and very sick. She introduced tenacity to me when I was a child. I feel it in my bones as if it were a key ingredient in the potion developed to create me. I am her Stink, and she assured me that there was purpose for my life. The letter reads:

"You’re gonna be okay. I was most sick when I was pregnant with you. The first trimester was horrible. I felt terrible, and Daddy was so sad. It was hard to see him weep for me. Daddy was always EXCITED every time I got pregnant; he was so protective and impassioned, which was defining in our marriage and strengthened it. I went to the doctor to find out what was making me so sick. They
