About this ebook

It's the entrepreneurs leading the space race

Colonies require support and expansion to other planets means shipping supplies to them. Pirates love long supply chains and not even Elon Musk is invulnerable, although there is reason to believe he might do slightly better than cumbersome governments.

This highly speculative look at the perils of building the first functional Mars colony stars Elon Musk.

A short, humorous look at space piracy -- and people.

    About this story

I’ve been certain that space exploration would be led by entrepreneurs ever since I first read Robert Heinlein’s THE MAN WHO SOLD THE MOON. I was young then, and impressionable.

Now I’m no longer young, but still impressionable. Current events have done nothing to alter that early impression.

I sent Elon Musk a copy and tagged him on Twitter, but he’s never commented, so I don’t know what he’d make of this little tale. I’d like to think he enjoyed it.

And I’d like to know. So, I’d appreciate it if, the next time he (Elon Musk) invites you over to dinner you’d ask him about it. Just an off-the-cuff observation would be fine. Then let me know what he says.
