About this ebook

I have felt the Spirit of God move on me to write this book.
My goal in this book is to help people, both saved and unsaved alike, to see the great need to not only have Jesus Christ as their personal savior, to seek the will of God in everyday living.
I want people to see that God should be first in the life of humanity. If God is first in their lives as in mine, then you can not help but come to whatever God wants you to go through, how to live, what to have, who an individual should be.
In service to Christ Jesus humanity will get the most out of life that they can get. This Christian walk is the greatest way to live, which also gives us power to do what God wants us to do, to have Christ work His miracles through us.
In my short 45yrs on the planet I can say I have seen the Lord move through people, including myself and work many mighty works, “miracles”.
Humanity will only be their best and get the best potential out of this life by doing all they know to do to serve Christ Jesus.
We may never know all the Bible has to teach us, to reveal to us, in this life. I say, study the Bible! Learn all you can learn from the Bible in this life! Open your heart and mind and learn all that Jesus wants to teach you!
I pray this book helps you and is a blessing to you. May the peace of God be with you as you follow Him.

    CHAPTER ONE

    WHO SHOULD BE

    IN CHARGE?

Many people may go about life and give little thought about the question, Who should be in charge of my life? To be in charge is to bear all the burdens or responsibilities yourself. If you ask most people that question Who should be in charge of your life? Their response would most likely be something like, Whom better to be in charge of me than myself. If I could not only appeal to your better judgment but also your spirit, I say God should be in charge of humanity’s life.

I find great peace and joy in knowing that the same God that is spoken of in the Bible in Genesis chapter 1and verse 1 is the same God that is in charge of my life today.

Genesis chapter 1: 1 reads: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

If we read Genesis chapter 1, we find that this God created all thing, great and small, and He saw that all His creations were very good, as you can read for yourself in Genesis chapter 1:31. Yes this includes humanity whom He made man in His image and likeness. Humanity should be overjoyed to know that there is a God that made them in His image and likeness. This same God has given humanity dominion over all He had made. This dominion He has given us is to care for all His creations, not destroy it- but that is another matter all to its self. Read Genesis 1: 26- 28 so you will know of man’s creation for yourself, do not just take my word for it.

And God said, Let Us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

To be made in God’s image and likeness is to have some of the same attributes or qualities also to look like Him in some physical manner.

Humanity is an emotional creature. God Himself has showed emotions in word and deed. I want to tell you of the Lord God’s great compassion and mercy, of His anger and judgment, of things that bring sadness and joy to Him, so you might be persuaded of who should be in charge. Let us take a look in the Bible at some of God’s emotions.

There is a Biblical event that tells of what was once a great city called Nineveh whose people not only caused God’s anger to be kindled against them but also found God’s loving mercies. This Biblical event tells also of a prophet named Jonah who is difficult at best. I encourage you to read the book of Jonah.

Now, our story starts off with God speaking to Jonah, and in our language telling him, you already work for Me, so get up I have another task for you.

    Jonah 1: 2 reads:

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before Me.

If we read this verse carefully we see the people’s wickedness got the Lord God’s attention. Just as a parent is disappointed or sorrowed by their child’s disobedience so was God with Nineveh. Over time His anger was kindled against the people of Nineveh and He brought judgment against them.

Being the good Lord He is, as said earlier, God called upon Jonah one of His prophets to deliver the message to the wicked people of Nineveh. God would never brig destruction upon a person or people without giving them space to repent and turn unto Him. God wanted Jonah to tell the people that they would be overthrown or perish for their sin against Him.

Jonah chapter 3 the last part of verse 4 reads:

…Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

Now before we go any more in to the story, we must understand God wishes no person to miss out on His goodness and mercy. He wants all people to make Heaven and miss out on Hell but it is up to us where we spend eternity. We will talk more on an eternal destination later but for now I must give you this verse for a better understanding of God’s feeling towards the people of Nineveh.

2 Peter 3:9 reads like this:

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

We see by reading this verse in the book of Peter that the message to Nineveh was to get them to repent of the evil they had done in the sight of God. Even in His anger, God was willing to show compassion and mercy to a repented people.

Jonah had a hard heart when it came to the people of Nineveh, and did not want them to receive the same blessings God had given him and his people. To Jonah the people of Nineveh were the enemy and heathen and deserved to parish for their sins. Jonah might had thought; if he did not deliver the message God would destroy them anyway or find someone else to do the task at hand but he was sure at that point in time he was not going to do it.

After God had spoken to Jonah telling him to go to Nineveh and deliver the message, Jonah gets up and goes to Joppa and finds him a ship going far away from the destination God had for him. Jonah decides to take a long journey by sea to Tar shish. Jonah thought by doing this he could escape from the presence of the Lord God and be free from the task God gave him to do. You will find this to be his thought by reading Jonah 1:3.

I ask you now, Do you think any one person can really hide from God?

The Psalmist wrote in the book of Psalms 139:8:

If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. Remember, this is the same God that spoke the Sun and stars into existence, the creator of all things that have been or ever will be created.

God did not let Jonah go so easily, and will not let us go so easily. When God gives us a task to do or a word to deliver to a person or people, it is very important that we do it when, where, and how He wants it done. You may be the only person that your friend, family member, neighbor, or coworker will listen to on a certain matter or subject. By letting God use, we have just become a tool in God’s hands to better someone’s life.

Just think about where you would be today if someone had not told you about the goodness of God and the great sacrifice of His son Jesus. You would not have just listened to any person. God sent to you the person you would truly hear. Let us not have the attitude Jonah had and run from God’s work, but run to the work of God.

Now Jonah had paid the fare, and he finally made it out to sea away from land, even much farther away from Nineveh. Jonah, thinking so unwisely at that time, even thought he was even hid from God. He went into the ship and with a clear mind, thinking he got away with it went off to a very deep sleep.

While Jonah was yet sleeping, and not giving God another thought, God was still very mindful of Jonah. God brought a mighty storm upon the sea where the ship was, to get Jonah’s attention.

This storm God had brought was so fierce that even the experienced mariners were afraid for their lives. To
