About this ebook

The Civil War of 1860 was about race. Today’s Civil War is about gender: the battle between Mother Chaos and God the Father. Long before Darwin, Marx, Freud, Machiavelli, and Saul Alinsky, Jesus figured out how to keep power. All people born of a mother are born in fear. No one needs to teach a baby how to cry and protest. In the “Deep State in the Time of Jesus” we see Jesus as a resistance fighter quietly dropped into enemy territory, driven by fear. He quickly chooses his leader Peter the Rock not only for his courage, but even more for his fear. Peter is so ordinary and common that if Peter understands Jesus, everyone will understand Jesus. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit anoints Peter and his evil twin Simon the Coward. With perfect love that drives out fear, Peter is aware of Simon the Coward without being beholden to Simon the Coward. Peter finds access to God the Father through Jesus as the Lamb of God (for no one is afraid of a lamb). Unlike the Deep State that must manipulate people’s fear, Jesus as Lamb of God absorbs people’s fear. In Peter’s first sermon, 3000 members of the Deep State entered the Father’s Kingdom of Gratitude and “were cut to the heart.” Acts 2:37

Author

Dr. Rick Barr

Dr. Rick Barr celebrates his Jubilee and deliverance from the Deep State this year (2020). He has been a Pastor and Marriage Counselor for 50 years. He started at Yale with a M.Div and D.Min degree unaware that liberalism’s enemy was not the conservative, but the Left who is the most formidable religion in the world. Black Lives Matter should be entitled “Black Live’s Mater” or Mother, for they represent the age- old cult of Mother Chaos (Tiamat/tehom) that Israel first encountered in Babylon in 600 BC. The Deep State must destroy patriarchies and family for the State to claim sacred authority. For twenty years, Dr. Barr has done nothing but “anoint the man who would be priest of his household”. Expecting mothers give birth to a child. Expecting fathers, if mentored like Jesus mentors Peter, will give birth to the family, and finally to civilization. The good news must inform the news, not the other way around.

    Introduction

The Deep State in the Time of Jesus

The Gospel of Peter Told to Mark

On January 20, 2021 America went into Exile as profoundly and as tragically as when Israel went into Exile in 600 BC into Babylon.

Two facts of history emerged when Donald Trump was elected President of the United States in 2016. We became aware of what he called the Deep State and we witnessed to what will surely cause an industry of PhD theses on a phenomenon called the Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Now a third fact of history even more sinister has emerged since January 20, 2021. America as the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave is dead. All the freedoms America has held dear are now under attack. People who voted for Donald Trump are now considered Domestic Terrorists and White Supremacists and are considered in need of being reprogrammed.

The Secular Messianism of the Left has become America and the World’s s ruling religion. The CIA and FBI are now stoking the fires of fear and paranoia and seek to demonize what even one month ago was considered normal American patriotism to debate and challenge the opposition Party’s point of view. Today it is considered a crime and racist to challenge anything that comes out of the Deep State.

What is even more shameful is that the Church in America has just rolled over and died, having allowed the Deep State to shut it down. Under the guise of wanting to keep us safe from the China Flu, we find ourselves having sold our soul for a bowl of porridge. We seemed to have forgotten Jesus’ warning that he who wants to save his life, shall lose it.

America is dead, but the Kingdom of God is still very much alive.¹

Paul understood the depth of the Deep State when he described our struggle:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)

The singular difference between Jesus and us is that Jesus was never shocked or surprised by sin but always was astounded by faith. We are just the opposite. We are insulted by sinners and take acts of kindness for granted.

The strategic advantage of the Deep State of fear is its peace is one of darkness like a child in a mother’s womb and so people can co-exist without engagement of each other. Calling themselves progressive they are nothing but totally regressive as a child contained by mother. Like pagans before the Jews, the Deep State of fear lives by myth without history. It is not as though the Deep State of fear has any animosity of the good news of Jesus Christ, they simply do not believe anything new can be good. The originating myth is the template for all behavior. Innovation is the original sin. The Golden Age of mankind is the past before time, once upon a time.

The first challenge to the Deep State of fear happened in Egypt in 1400 BC through the prophetic imagination of Moses. (This is another reason the Deep State of fear hates Israel and favors the Muslim nations and China.)

Through Moses mankind discovered both history and the Law.

The exodus out of Egypt was not a fictional triumph in the imagination but a religious, political, and economic departure from the Deep State of fear. The God of Israel had done battle in ten plagues with the Egyptian gods and won. Israel now had achieved exodus in the wilderness, despite an incessant longing to return to Egypt where it was safe. The Golden Age of Mankind shifted from the past to the future when the Messiah or Anointed One would come not only to bring a temporary victory over the current Deep State of fear, but over death itself. Having an end to their story, Israel also now had a beginning. Israel now had history.

When King Solomon, in his last will and testament, says All is meaningless and there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:1,9), he has left his Jewish heritage and rediscovered the Deep State of fear.

Solomon’s myth of wisdom (I am rich therefore I am wise.) replaces history. There is a worship of the serpent and worship of the State. Samuel the Judge’s worst fear about a king for Israel has come to pass. The authority of God the King has been replaced by the worship of the State.

A story with an end and a beginning as history, has been replaced by a circle with no beginning and no ending, a life without closure, a life without an end, a life without a purpose. The Deep State of fear may claim to know God, but God does not claim to know the Deep State at all: I know you not.

Israel’s final punishment is the victory of the Deep State of fear in Babylon in 600 BC.

The Gospel of Peter as told to Mark begins with the prophet Isaiah predicting once again an exodus, but this is not only an economic and political exodus, but a spiritual exodus from fear, sin, and death.

Unlike the Deep State of fear based on Mother’s peace in darkness, the Kingdom of gratitude is based on God the Father’s peace in light. The first is an innocence without awareness. The second is an innocence of a man and woman made innocent by the forgiveness of sins, and fear absorbed by the Lamb of God who expresses on the cross our fears of abandonment and dying alone: My God, my God why have you forsaken me? Psalm 22:1

    *****

This book, The Deep State in the Time of Jesus, was conceived first in my marriage counseling office:

God is love (agape, gift love)….But perfect love drives out fear. 1 John 4:16,18

We learned two important points to help couples with their own spiritual warfare:

First, the opposite of love is not anger, hate, sarcasm, contempt, but fear.

Second, fear is not so much a thought or feeling, but rather a being with its own existence. All couples who are asked If you ignore fear, does fear ignore you? answer in unison, No!

These two revelations have been helpful to couples for several reasons:

    1. It helps couples to take the blow out of the blowfish when they begin an argument. The body mind starts sending adrenaline and steroids to the person threatened. The people who have studied sexual abused people and soldiers who have suffered Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome have learned that the body keeps score and so the stress is not just in one’s head. Typical therapy begins from spirit down to soul to body, but in treating people with abuse the process is just the reverse from body up to soul up to spirit. Abused people do not know how they feel but their bodies do. (This is one reason the Church considered the Gnostic heresy the greatest threat to the Church because they promoted the idea of the immortality of the soul while the Church maintained the resurrection of the body.")

    2. People are mostly theologically illiterate today. Even C.S. Lewis in 1938 observed this when he wrote his book The Problem of Pain. Many observers said it should have been called The Problem of Evil but Lewis disagreed. He contended people do not understand concepts like evil or God or sin, but they did understand the experience of pain. What Lewis did for pain" is what I want to do with two experiences common to all mankind: fear and gratitude.

    3. Because of this dynamic of fear having its own existence makes it similar to what Jesus called a demon. This gives fear both a spiritual and a psychological component.

    4. From that step it was an eye opening to consider the sort of therapy Jesus did from beginning to end. Where scripture talks about sin I speak about fear for with two exceptions they are the same: the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and the healthy fear of a prey to its predator. After that fear and sin are the same, and people understand when Jesus drives out fear from a synagogue or absorbs people’s fear from the cross, what is being described. Every time an angel enters our Deep State of fear, he has to caution us fear not.

    5. As I chose to tell Peter’s Gospel as transcribed to Mark through Peter’s point of view, I began to realize through Peter how immersed we are to the reality of fear and how
