FOREWORD
I am extremely grateful to Pastor Martin to be asked to forward this timeless book on Intimacy With God. I have worked with him in ministry for over 21 years. He is a spiritual father and inspiration to me and my family. Over the years, I have seen his intimacy with God take deeper dimensions. He is an apostle of God sold out in his commitment to Jesus Christ and seeks to encourage everyone to do the same. Many of us are privileged to be impacted by his ministry on different platforms, the conviction of his faith in the Lord and the simplicity of his words. His commitment to the Lord is central and practical in his daily life and work. Prayer is the joy of his heart and he seeks to make it the joy of other people’s hearts too.
This book will open you up to the truth that Intimacy is a gift from God; and that it is His desire for each one of His children. The responsibility of enjoying this sweet closeness with God can be sustained through constant communication with Him through prayer, fuelled by deep understanding of His word, empowered by God’s deep love, which draws you into His embrace.
Pastor Martin brings out the truth that intimacy with God is man’s greatest need in life. He shows you how to develop and enjoy this all-important relationship with God and to flow naturally in it. The revelation of God’s Holiness, as you read this book, will stir in you a strong desire for intimacy with Him. Like Mary Magdalene in Luke 10:38-42, you will choose the better part of sitting at the feet of Jesus in prayer and listening to His word.

INTRODUCTION
AN INVITATION TO INTIMACY WITH GOD
Love is the greatest desire of every heart. A heart without love is an unfulfilled heart. God created man in His own image because His heart was craving for love. He designed man to look and be just like Himself because there was nothing more beautiful or greater than God Himself. Adam and Eve, the first man and woman were therefore the objects of God’s love and they satisfied the craving of His heart. They sat on the throne of God’s heart and they could have everything they desired from God.
Love demands intimacy. Intimacy refers to a close relationship with someone; deeply knowing a person and feeling deeply known by that person. Every lover wants intimacy with the object of their love and this produces joy for both. Right from the beginning of creation, God has desired intimacy with man and therefore when we draw close to God, it makes Him happy. King David says in Psalm 16:11 that there is fulness of joy and pleasures forevermore
in the presence of the Lord. Thus, intimacy with God makes us joyful and brings much joy to God.
This book aims to help us develop an intimate relationship with God. You will discover God’s heart for man and our role in this divine love affair. This book will surely lift you up into a holy romance with God. Enjoy reading.
I am very grateful to my dear wife Catherine, whose intimate love enhances and strengthens me. She gives me much joy and pleasure and I love her dearly.
I also thank my friend Mrs Betty Smith for editing and making my books readable.
CHAPTER 1
GOD’S GREATEST NEED!
The greatest need of God above all else is to have a family of His own. To say God has a need sounds like a contradiction because after all, He is God who created all things and can command anything to fulfil His needs. In one sense that is right, He is all powerful and nothing is impossible to Him, however, God moderates his all-conquering power with His love.
God is not just powerful; He is also love. Love is perhaps the strongest word in the world. Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 13:8 that: Love never fails.
Everything else can and will fail except love. This puts love in a special category of strength and endurance and the only person who never fails and has total endurance and strength is God.
God and Love are one. God is Love and Love is of God:
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
John 4:7-8
As indestructible as love is, there is a perception of ‘weakness’ when love is mentioned. Love brings to mind a picture of one who is ready to sacrifice for another. It also gives a picture of someone in need. Love is ready to humble himself for the lifting up of his lover. So the fact that God is both all-powerful
and all-loving
makes Him uniquely attractive. He has the power to command all things to obey and serve Him, yet he freely gives up this power for the sake of love. To see God as a lover is to see God with a need that can only be satisfied by the one He loves.
God has a need
