Preface
Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day are among the many holidays and traditions that have been created and practiced by man and that have also been commercialized heavily by man. God did not ask man to celebrate these holidays. These pagan holidays and traditions have been reinforced by the Christian church from ancient Roman rituals and customs of Victorian England. The Bible does not mention that we should celebrate these pagan beliefs. These beliefs were not even celebrated during biblical times. Not only are these pagan holidays, But they are also against the teachings of Jesus. The meaning of these holidays, from the beginning of their inception into society, has created a force of its own—going way beyond the reason (and meaning) for celebrating these days to a wide array of moneymaking endeavors to patronize customs not sanctioned by God.
Take the time to study the history of these holidays that are practiced in our society. The most important thing is not how you feel about this but how God feels about it. Satan and the world can distort these celebrations. But kept in the context of why we celebrate these holidays can be uplifting to the spirit of man, of course, but still not sanctioned by God. Each holiday should be kept in the context of the meaning it has to us and why we celebrate this day. But do not say you are honoring God when you won’t even follow his Word in your day-to-day living. So much of each holiday has been distorted by Satan and man that each one has become a distortion created by society’s whims. When the subject matter is sanctioned by God, there is no distortion or confusion. Keeping each holiday in perspective still does not make it right with God. He tells us in the Bible what his will is for his children. We are not here to please ourselves but to please God.
It is a sad and confusing reality that our Christian leaders have helped lead the people in this distortion and tradition of pagan beliefs—to the point that we the people believe that this is OK by God and that he wants us to celebrate these pagan holidays of traditional belief. No, it is not OK. Please study your Bible, for Jesus Christ spoke of the traditions people keep and asked, why do we keep them? Nowhere in the scripture does God tell us to celebrate Christmas or Easter or any of the pagan holidays that have grown in favor over the centuries—holidays that have transgressed against the commandments of God.
We should not apply these beliefs to the worship of God. Do not take heathen customs and try to honor God, because he is not honored by them. You cannot mix the profane with the holy. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s Table and of the table of devils" (1 Corinthians 10:21). No one likes to stick out like a sore thumb. But what is more important to you—your eternal resting place for your soul or how you look to the people who you will be traveling down the wrong path with you to your demise? It’s down to your choices or God’s will. Every day in our lives, we make choices that we have to live with. Or we can make changes for the betterment of our well-being.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them
(Ephesians 5:11). Every day we live is accountable to God. What will your answer be if God is to ask you, Why did you celebrate these days?
Will you reply that you did so because everyone else did? Will you say, I’m sorry I never read the true teachings of your Word
.
But he answered and said, every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be
