37400.pngMadison, could you come into my office please?
Scott’s voice came over the intercom on her desk.
It was Friday afternoon. Maddie looked up from the complicated presentation she was furiously working on for Scott. He was invited as guest speaker at a Merchant Banking Convention interstate, the following week. He was leaving Monday morning for Melbourne and all the documents he needed to take with him had to be finalised before close of business today.
Maddie was the personal assistant to Scott Lyons, senior executive, of the corporate banking division of an international bank. In all the time they had worked together, close to a year now, Scott had always kept a ‘strictly business’ relationship with Maddie. He never spoke of his private life or enquired about hers and that was for the best because behind her cool efficiency Maddie hid her secret. Concealing her feelings for Scott under a professional veneer all these months was a hard task. At work, she always wore her auburn hair pulled back in a severe bun, and screened her eyes behind reading glasses, but she had not given up on wearing colourful shirts under her corporate suits, and her real self transpired in outrageous stationery and fresh flowers which adorned her desk, and she always had a warm smile and kind words for everyone.
Maddie had gone and done the unforgiveable. She had fallen in love with her boss. She now had to keep it to herself, at all cost. No one could ever know her feelings for Scott, not at work or
