    DISCLAIMER

Note to Reader: the text of this book is from two sources, a translation from the French by a native French speaker whose second language is English and a transcription of the classes conducted in English by Martin whose native language is French. Any anomalies of the English language or grammar you may notice are simply due to this fact. The lived experience the language of the text addresses and conveys is the point.

    FOREWORD

Martin Muller was born in Vevey, Switzerland, in 1913. He spent his teens in the mountains where his parents held a boarding house that specialized in treating children from tropical colonies. Martin and his siblings, being in charge of the schooling and physical education of these children, became excellent mountain climbers over the years. Upon reaching adult age, Martin went to the University of Geneva to study psychology and specialized in professional career adviser. This is when he discovered that by using more esoteric means, like direct perception, astrology, etc., he was far more effective than by using his regular academic formation. At the same time, with the help of his wife, he began to teach groups, inspired by Steiner and Theosophy. It was at the end of WWII that they rented a farm in Epalinges, a small village by Lausanne, where they developed organic crops and trained guests, giving classes on spiritual subjects. Some faded copies of the teaching given by Martin at that time were preserved and recently translated by a student (now ninety-five years old, living in California) who happened to be a guest at Epalinges during these times.

Martin, although he was using some traditional esoteric material in his teaching, considered himself more as an awakener of souls or, expressed differently, an awakener of the Christ in all of us, different than a trainer who follows step-by-step the development of his students. At that time, he was already using music as a carrier to transmit energy and allowing students to feel and experience higher spiritual spheres of livingness. The Epalinges material invites the reader to participate to these early mystical times.

He soon abandoned his farm to consecrate himself to the training of several groups in Geneva and Lausanne. He lived in Satigny (by Geneva) and then later at Caux (above Montreux) where he wrote his book Prelude to the New Man.

In 1968, he and his family moved to Rancho Santa Fe, in California, where he launched new classes, attracting people of many different backgrounds, young and old, continuing to use music extensively as a vector of his capacity of awakener—awakener of another order of life.

His book Prelude to the New Man was augmented and translated in English. It is interesting to realize that although the basic action of Martin was through using directly the music as an awakening of consciousness, his book presents a training, starting with the known psychological principles, basic exercises dealing with desires, thoughts and sensations, continuing with ontological principles, centers of awareness, and ending with the unfolding of perceptions, radiations, and two basic exercises: the crystal exercise and down-and-away exercises, in which the consciousness is freed so that another reality might transappear of its own authority.

Martin continued to develop his classes in what he called calisthenics—the calisthenics of consciousness—in which he formed a team with a very gifted lady, Georgette. The calisthenics present here are the outer parts of the classes given by Martin; what is unfortunately missing is the part when music was used to create a direct change in the consciousness in the participants.

During the 1980s, the calisthenics sessions were recorded and transcribed and made available to students. Our aim here is to offer to the seekers to find, realize, and witness another order of life. The excerpts of the original transcripts still retain the working session format. In more than forty sessions, the reader may find repetitions but can follow the progress of the work. Subtitles have been listed in the table of contents to facilitate access to specific subjects. The material is best appreciated by random lecture of sessions, stopping to ponder the depth of the message.

As a final note: the reader, after reading some of the material, might want to know and understand who Martin was intimately. It is believed that his poem O Lord, Be Thou Blessed! presented in the beginning of his book Prelude to the New Man allows the reader to perceive what a true mystic living another order of life is.

    LECTURES AT

    EPALINGES 1949–1950

    For Beginners

I am joy bestowing you wings,

    Love springing in your gaze,

    Smile lightening your face,

    Wisdom blossoming on your forehead.

I am blessing conveyed by your hands,

    Power vibrating in your speech,

I am goodness that you ever manifest,

Peace that you sow in hearts.

Brother, what guided you here? What are you searching? Do you know what you desire? Are you determined?

Is it only curiosity that brought you here? If this is the case, you might see only appearance, as reality can only manifest to you in accordance to your real need.

Or would you come without any precise purpose only because you think it appropriate? Brother, be patient, slow will be your discoveries.

Could it be intense aspiration that enticed you to come? Could it be your deep faith? Could it be your need for truth? Could it be your quest, oh searcher for light?

So, brother, be welcome. This course presents its lessons; the group, its élan; the center, its help; and the masters, their vibrations. Verily, answers come to true searchers.

This course is open to all who deeply seek light. It instructs the student to tread upon the path; it schools the disciple for initiation. It also prepares him for service too—the service of love—a visible or invisible aid.

Already you ask how to work. Apply these lessons in your life constantly, as only the expression of your spiritual life in your daily practice will allow Illumination, and be a Being of Love for your fellows.

    But remember:

Before the beginning of each course, before each session in a group, or reading or meditation at home, observe a time of silence, an intense silence where the clamor of the world will quiet down, where perfect receptiveness will arise.

At the end of each lesson, reading, or meditation, keep or even increase the given vibration. Do not destroy it through futile idle, but reinforce it through silence or measured, constructive, and definite speech.

Also remember: Being is measured by its radiation. This will bring you to the group, your fellows, joy, smile, benediction, and goodness so that both the group and you might be a luminous center pouring love, wisdom, power, and peace.

You are asking whether there are material obligations. There exist none exterior. The only one you take is the one in respect to yourself. However, if you desire to help, such as the expenses of the course, what you give will permit the activity of the center and of the group to continue, the center having no other financial contribution than the one freely offered by each member of the group and several other persons.

Perhaps, oh brother, your quest might be deeper, your élan more total. You would like to help, be a participant to the work, not only with your surplus, but also with all your being. You would like to really enter the way. This, brother, implies a commitment—a commitment to the masters, the center, and yourself.

Brother, if you really want to serve, there exists for you the group of construction within the nameless group. Therein you will learn to share the responsibility of a spiritual mission and contribute to its development through financial participation, fraternal services, deep vibration, and invisible aid. Then later, as an initiate and, some future day, as a master.

Brother, if this is your deep aspiration, find two members of the group of construction for the necessary preparation instruction. When you believe you are ready, with the assent of your sponsors, write your petition for admission.

Then soon, brother, joy and love will flow from your gaze, smile will lighten your face, wisdom will be inscribed on your forehead, hands will stream warmhearted blessings, power will vibrate in your speech, goodwill in your acts, and in your wake, peace will blossom.

    May peace be with you.

    Light

Harmony was so pervading, purity so sweet, love so perfect. From a single élan, vibrant, total, the call was heard like a trumpet.

Out of the grand cosmos of light, a ray sprung forth, blazing in its purity.

    Melodious, the voice rose:

To you I come, oh Earth, to bring a new light. Times are now bygone. An age approaches its end, and a new cycle begins. Wake up, oh Earth, and rejoice! The new age is born, a new light dominion. To you, priests of the light, instructors of the new age, this hour is assigned.

A new age is born, an age of light.

Harmony was so pervading, purity so sweet, love so perfect.

    The Golden Age

An age of light, the new golden age is born, so pure, so sweet, so perfect. Regardless of the cataclysmic commotion of its entrance, it appears calm and radiant. Wherefrom is it come, so noble, so handsome, whereas a civilization everywhere disintegrates, evil is destroying itself?

Clear vision pries the horizon. Back along the course of years, centuries, cycles. At least the horizon lightens up; light is again resplendent, and a golden age is again in the field of vision. Then again darkness. Years are passing, then centuries cycles. A golden age appears, reappears.

    Again, again, and again.

Each time the cause dominates, each time the age manifests the cause: light, life, purity, beauty, and perfection.

So endures the family of the golden ages, therefrom originates the present new age of light.

The Pioneers of the Golden Age

In the clear vision of the new age, the attention is attracted toward a more luminous group. This group of noble hearts, courageous and pure, knows but a service, a purpose, and a cause.

Part of the large family of humanity are the elderly brothers as a kernel of blazing love. Beautiful vision, noble vision of this group with pure and resolute hearts. From age to age, it comes forth, bringing the last golden age to perfection, to its luminous harmony.

Light emanating from this group always intensifies as times pass: The age demands it; the brothers realize it. Already a part of the brothers realize the ascension: Beings of Lights serving the age of light. The other part remains, teaching total mastery, the ascension, and in turn ascend—brothers servicing brothers.

Other groups now attract the attention: so much élan surges, all aspire toward light. All desire illumination. On them the head group spread its light, giving its teaching, preparing pure service.

They also are the pioneers of the new age, the brothers of good will, realizing the plan.

In the close horizon, yet so murky and dark, more blazing lights emerge, brothers in good faith on a quest for light. Uniting their efforts or working alone, all dedicate themselves to the same purpose: preparing the same advent.

Then light responds already, then dawn is born.

    The Rise of the Feeling

Oh you who in your heart felt the vibration of the deep string, you who in full being seek for light, to you these lines are destined.

Secretly in your being, a feeling rises, still imprecise, but already demanding. It is the call of the divine, and your desire to serve it.

Here and there, you are looking, and anxiously you are wondering: Where are the brothers seeking light? Indeed, you would like to meet them in a shared effort. You ask too, How may I serve? I have some material goods; shall I share them for a noble cause? I have goodwill, may it be useful?

Your glance goes hither and thither, with some hints of hope, sometimes hints of deception too. You find only preconceived ideas, vague notions, incompetency mixed with a small measure of often-sentimental goodwill. Or you find the categorical affirmation of an intellect that claims knowing all, claims to be able to judge all, desiring the good but seeing all according to its own image.

In you the following proverb seems to resonate: If the blind conducts the blind, will they not fall together into the same well?

The feeling rises in yourself; the desire becomes imperious. But where are those who know, those who see?

Peace be with you, brother. Here are those you are seeking.

You want to have companions on the path. Are you determined? Are you really so, brother seeking light?

You are asking how to serve. If you are determined to be a brother seeking light, your service is accepted, even demanded. Yes, your material aid might be useful, even indispensable for the exterior construction of the work.

But a noble cause requires for its service noble beings.

Are you determined, brother? Are you yourself taking the engagement to follow the path as best as you can, regardless of the obstacles? Is it really what you desire? Yes.

Hence, brother, listen to the rising of the feeling. It will be your blazing light along your journey.

Brother, in order to guide your steps, you need a light, a light that you may be able to hold yourself. We can help you in many instances, enlighten you as needed. But you only can tread your way, and you only can take the firm steps as you hold your light high. Learn today to keep it high; learn to use it, know it, and soon the joy of light will rise in you.

Oh brother, listen! In your heart rises the feeling, so sweet, so subtle, that the slightest disharmony veils it. In your heart is emitted its beneficent music, its pure clarity. In its presence, all is transformed, all is beautified.

Oh brother, contemplate! You have found your blazing light.

Could you recognize the feeling from all feelings that abides in you? It is not a feeling; it is the feeling. Whereas almost all feelings bring exterior impressions, a sense of having, the feeling brings a divine influx, a sense of being.

Each time a noble and generous élan, deep and pure, animates you, it is the feeling rising in your heart. Each time an élan of love guides a meaningful action, it is the feeling that enlightens you.

The feeling is familiar through its radiation, so warm and intimate. It is it, which incites you to pardon, to give you confidence in the divine action. The feeling is like an enveloping and warm protection of an infinitely sweet presence. Indeed, the feeling is the divine presence speaking in your ear. Would you desire a better light to guide you?

If by chance, due to lack of attention, you would have lost your blazing light, remember that it is always close and easy to recover. Whatever the disarray in which you find yourself, make the effort of calm confidence. Hence, in this moment of relaxation, awaken in yourself a desire—a desire of beauty, nobility, pure, truthful, warmth, luminousity, and also a desire, an élan, a gift of yourself for a greater action.

How demanding is the trouble bothering you? Forget about it; be confident. At this moment, allow the desire to grow in you; intensify it and give it all the élan of your soul. Do not speak of it; do not talk about it. But in the secretive part of your heart, give everything to the divine, and for the divine endeavor to realize your desire, intensified by a greater élan of joy.

Then progressively, or perhaps suddenly, in measure of the intensity of your aspiration, the feeling rises in your heart, bringing peace and light, confidence and strength.

Brother, grasp the blazing light with a determined and firm hand. There is no dark place in you that cannot be enlightened. Allow the rising of the feeling accomplish itself. Contemplate the rising of the feeling in your heart.

Now is the time to become aware of an important fact: So subtle is the rising of the feeling. So total is its respect of your personality than if you have the tendency to harbor a breath of disharmony the feeling veils is radiance in order to not hinder your experience. But on the other hand, if you ask for its aid with all your heart and allow the unfolding of the action, all shadow is dissipated.

Then if you really desire that the rising of the feeling be luminous and total, you cannot harbor any other sentiment than the one awakened by the feeling because it can be only positive, constructive, noble, and pure.

There is in the person, brother, a center called the solar plexus. It has the power to capture from the outside all kind of vibrations. They affect you with feelings that can be sensed very intensely. This center has also the power to project outside variable vibrations, which are the expression of feelings harbored in you. The plexus is a vital door open to the outside. The point is to be aware of what you allow to enter or emit there. For this, you have to be able to discern feelings from the feeling. Those captured by the plexus are numerous. Some are beautiful, noble, and pure; others are but shadows. Guard your entrance, brother, and allow to enter only the most beautiful. These feelings are not from you; they are visitors, as your own feelings are visitors in others. The qualities of the feelings you emit determine the quality of those which enter. Therefore, brother, guard on the doorstep of your door all that comes out, and allow only the purest to enter.

Be firm, be firm, brother. You will ever be the firm-enough guardian of the threshold of your abode. Because what enters is not easy to dislodge and what has left is not easy to recall.

You are responsible for your abode: it is a sacred temple. If the undesirable knocks at your door, do not answer; if it insists again and troubles you, do not answer. Go inside your temple and vivify the flame of the hearth. Your trouble will dissipate through its warmth, and the undesirable will leave the precincts.

If one day you were not attentive and if the undesirable had entered through the open door, therefore, do not hesitate one single moment: expel it with all your energy, and take from it any desire to come back. Such an action—determined, immediate, total—will prevent in the future much trouble.

After such actions, carefully close the door, and in the secret of your abode, contemplate the rising of the feeling.

If when you, for the first time, begin guarding your door and notice that the abode is already invaded by the undesirable, do not worry; you are not alone in the temple. Confidently, quietly, meet the rising feeling and ask for its aid. Do not wonder when, where, how it will act. Be confident in the perfect certitude; guard the opening of your door, and do your part of the work, which is to keep it close and pure.

According to the perfection of your guard, the light emitted in the temple by the rising of the feeling becomes more intense. In function of the increasing of intensity of the light, the undesirable backs up. Indeed, the light consumes all dark elements if you ask it: Therefore, you will be able to fully master the entrance of the temple, it will be purified from the undesirable.

If you allow only the most high, beautiful, and noble to enter, you have to also check what you allow to come out: the purest, the most perfect. If you happen by mistake allowing to escape a current that has not yet reached the desirable purity, hence, without hesitation, send in the same direction a ray of intense love, giving it the mission to correct the mistake. This ray of intense love, it is the feeling that gives it to you as it is rising. Allow it to vibrate in you until you intensely sense it. Then through an élan, spontaneous and pure, give it and project it in the necessary direction. Here again, do not ask whether where, when, how it will act. Be confident; it is the feeling that acts; you do your part in complete sincerity and gratitude.

Brother, is it clear? Did you understand?

The door of your temple is the plexus. What comes in and out is all what you sense. Each time you sense a feeling, it goes through the plexus—be it a shock, emotion, pain, joy, or happiness. When you close the door, you do not feel. The guardian, it is you in your conscious feeling, in your conscious thought, at any time. The undesirable is all that is less perfect than the most perfect you can express. The desirable is the divine expression, the highest that you can conceive; the divine is in the rising of the feeling.

    Mastering the Attention

In the secret of your heart, brother, you have taken your decision. It is an act of confidence, an act of love. Firm, you stand on the threshold of the wide door, whereas in the temple rises peace, issued from the luminous love radiating from the feeling. Confidence rises in you and strength. Goodwill is animated in you, as well as the joy of service. Take your part, brother, in the service of the temple as you do it in the service of your brothers. Are you not and they dedicated to the same service of the cause? Contemplate and act!

Brother, do you want to learn more today to be able to better direct your efforts? For your will is good, but the effort does not always achieve the desired results.

So, brother, etch on yourself these words; they are of the sage of old: You become what you contemplate. You inherit what you see in front of you. The world is for you according to your perspective. What you are looking at is looking at you. Where you direct your attention, you are directed.

    Brother, therefore contemplate God!

Allow this note to vibrate in yourself increasingly, and you will be aware of the importance of the attention.

The attention is this motion of your person that tends toward an objective or which establishes a tension, a current between tension and objective. Brother, already you sense the importance of the control, of the mastery of the attention. Have you realized that each time you direct your attention to something, you establish a contact? A current flow from you to it, completing you to become active in your life? Have you thought that the current that flows from you toward this thing is your own life current? Have you thought that the life you gave to this current has established a link that could be cut only when you will have consciously removed your life current from this thing? Meditate, brother, meditate at length on this subject and then act consequently!

The thing that attracts your attention may be an object, a person, a concrete, or an abstract fact; it can be limited or unlimited. It is this multitude of manifestations that constitute your field of experience and expression.

Let us penetrate more into this subject, will you, brother? It is usually said that one thing attracts the attention; you know now that this expression is not correct. You establish a contact with the thing by a current that goes from you to it. A thing can reach you only if you have first established this contact. The thing acts only by responding, hence does not attracts.

The attention, brother, is determined by a need. A need that can be conscious or unconscious, a fictitious or real need. Remember, brother, the motion of the attention is determined by a need, whether you call this need concrete or aspiration in a world you believe abstract or spiritual. A need that you believe necessary for reasons that you judge necessary. You feel the effects of it as an aspiration in your interior life. You concretize it by your five senses in your exterior life.

Brother, if you direct your gaze upon a thing, directing your attention to it, it means that this thing responds to a need in you.

Brother, if you listen to something and direct your attention to it, it means that this thing responds to a need in you.

Brother, if you happen to want to eat something and you direct the attention toward it, this something responds to a need in you.

However, brother, when to look at or listen to something or you want to eat something, and do not direct your attention to it or simply refuse to do it because it does not respond to a need so the want fades away, the attraction disappears.

Guardian of the threshold of the wide-open door of the temple, be aware of the need—master the attention!

A question rises in you and you ask: But if the attention is determined by a need, why is my attention often brought upon things contrary to my desire and destructive to me?

Brother, did you thoroughly meditate on what you just learned? Have you discovered the vast horizon opened by these rather scant explanations? If you had done it right, you would have received an answer. Brother, learn all in simple facts.

Why allow your attention to go toward things while knowing them not to be constructive for you or knowing them not to be a need for you? Why don’t you immediately severe your attention from these things? Why, brother? Have you pondered it? True, you exert yourself trying to divert your attention from the undesirable; nevertheless, the attention on it recurs too often. Why?

If the undesirable has the power to attract your attention, brother, you have given it this power. It responds to a need in you, conscious or secretive. Did you observe that some aspects of the undesirable responds in you, aspects of curiosity perhaps, of sentiment or sensation you want to ignore or still a conscious desire of incomplete satisfaction? Many needs one does not want to confess but being the source of the evil one tries to avoid.

It can also happen that your attention is attracted by a thing that you consider totally contrary to you, and regardless of a complete and sincere search, you cannot find the need originating from this attraction. Brother, this need is simply out of your memory. It is perhaps very old and does not respond to the present situation. Then remember: in a time out of your memory, you projected your attention on this subject by the need. With your attention, you have projected your life current, an indissoluble link created by no one except yourself. Later, the interest fell off; presently, the need corresponds to nothing anymore. It is only a fetter. But the link remained, for it resists time and oblivion.

To you, brother: Behave to break this link, your creation, to remove your life current from the undesirable.

This action must be conscious and total. You must be conscious that this need has existed. You must be aware that this need should not exist anymore, for it is not noble and pure as you intend to be. This need, serving you before, is now useless. Render it onto the whole; give it within you to the rising feeling, with a sense of gratitude for what it has given you. And now, since it is in the guard of the feeling rising in you, go in peace, forget about it, ward off forever any attention toward this old direction, and be fully occupied with the task ahead of you.

O brother, seeker of the light, know that you master the attention by controlling your needs.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of the light, know that you control the feeling of the need by cultivating the feeling of plenitude.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of the light, know that the feeling of the need is a feeling to have. Plenitude is a feeling to be.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of light, know that the attention is really this intimate divine motion that pours out the plenitude of light where the shadow of the need appears.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of the light, know that plenitude is.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of the light, know that the feeling is the Being who is. You, the guardian on the threshold of the wide door of the temple, in your consciousness, you have. The attention is the link.

    O brother, meditate and act!

O brother, seeker of the light, know that the feeling is.

    O brother, meditate and act!

    O brother, meditate and act!

    O brother, meditate and act!

    O brother, meditate and act!

    Birth of the Christ Consciousness

    Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!

Christmas! Sing the bells, Christmas! Sing men.

Christmas! Sing your heart, sound of gladness and of life, song of peace and goodwill, song of plenitude and love.

Christmas! The song of the avatar—Christmas! The song of the Savior of the world—Christmas! The song of the Messiah—Christmas! The song of Christ.

Christmas! The celebration so warm and sweet. Christmas! The celebration of the birth. Christmas! The celebration of the divine.

A Being of Love is born

A Christ to us is given.

O brother, seeker of the light, the hour has come for you to know the light. O brother, prepare, for tonight you have been invited to live Christmas in the sanctum of the temple. Let the threshold of your abode, let a more advanced guard keep it for you tonight. Brother, here is your white robe. Enter into the peace of the temple, where so sweet is the harmony. The time is propitious.

Brother, prepare, let us meditate together, will you?

In each age is born a Being of Love, tall among the talls. Some call him the avatar; others, a messiah; still others, a savior of the world or Christ. So many words to depict a unique fact: the advent of a Being of Love bringing a new gospel for the new age.

For at each age, the form changes, but truth remains.

Each time, a legend weaves the golden veil of nativity.

And each time, this nativity is celebrated in joy, love, and light.

The coming of the Being of Love manifesting the Christ for the nascent age is always prepared centuries before in all details. Prophets announce it, sages teach it, and the brothers prepare it and open the way.

In the passing age, a Being of Love has come, tall among talls.

In the time of the darkest night, at midnight, he was born,

In the darkest time of the year, at the winter solstice, he was born.

In the darkest time of the Dark Age, in the Pisces era, he was born.

In the very darkness, he was born. He, the Being of Love, setting up light where man was not seeing it anymore.

In the very darkness, he was born. He, the Being of Light, radiating love and life where man did not believe them anymore.

In the very darkness, he was born. He, the Being of Life, setting up peace where man was not hoping it anymore.

    For light knows only light,

    For life knows only life,

    For love only knows love.

Whereas all was still dark, he came—he, the Being of Light—to herald the age of light.

Whereas all men believed in death, he came—he, the Being of Life—to teach eternal life.

Whereas egoism and possession were shackling men, he came—he, the Being of Love—to give the law of love.

He said, the Being of Love,

Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your thoughts and all your strength.

He said, the Being of Love,

Thou shall love your fellow man as yourself.

He added, the Lord of Love,

From these two commandments come all laws and prophets.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love, for love knows but unity, union. Love is the force that unites all.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord, for the Lord is the one you recognize as being higher than you. He is the one you serve.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord your God, for the Lord you recognize in you and above you is God. It is God for you as a presence, tangible and active. He is the only Lord that you have to recognize.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, for the desire, the desire to love, the desire of union, the desire of being one with the Lord your God is the conceived feeling of your heart. And you love with the total élan of your heart.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, for when you have sowed in the fecund plane of your soul this desire, union can grow. You love with all your soul when your aspiration toward union become vital, necessary to your life. The grand desire of your heart has become an élan of all your feelings of being. A perfect élan of union, from being to Being.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, with all your thought, for thought defines the form from which the sowed desire in the soul shall grow. With all your thought, you shall love the Lord your God. All your thoughts shall do one single thing: formulate, express your love, your desire, your feeling of union, within the vast field of activity in your world of thought. Wherever your thought is manifested, you shall manifest your love for the Lord your God.

The Being of Love said, Thou shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, with all your thought and with all your strength, for by your strength, you make concrete the realization, tangible in your activity. You shall love with all your strength; in all your actions, in all your movements, and in all your activities, you shall exemplify and manifest your love for the Lord your God.

The grand élan of love, the immense desire of union with the Lord your God has inflamed your heart. In your soul, it has become an imperious need, a vital one. It has penetrated through your entire thought. Your thought includes it, gives it form. This élan of love impregnates all your activity, and with all your strength, you realize it in all your doings.

Only one Being exists in your field of vision: the Lord your God. Everywhere you see only him—in your desires, in your life current, in your thoughts, in your acts, in yourself, around yourself. Everywhere, you see but him. You could not desire better; you could not desire otherwise.

Oh! Thou love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, with all your thought and with all your strength.

He said, the Being of Love, And here is the second commandment that is similar: you shall love your fellow man like yourself.

Oh! You could not love and find the Lord your God in your fellow man without loving him and finding it in yourself. Therefore, you realize that your fellow man is yourself, another aspect of yourself, and you shall love him as he is. You shall love your fellow man as another aspect of yourself; you shall feel one with him, and you shall love him as being yourself.

So you love, oh! You love your Lord your God with all your heart, you love with all your soul, you love with all your thought, and you love with all your strength.

You love, oh! You love your fellow man as yourself.

And from this love come all the laws and the prophets.

The invisible choir sings in you the joy of light, and you, in a grand élan of love, with your brothers, you gratefully sing:

    Jesus is born,

A Christ is given to us.

Each time the age changes, the Avatar appears. Each time an era changes, the Being of Love rises. There was Osiris, Krishna, and Jesus. Already, the blazing dawn of the Aquarius era is illuminating the horizon. Already, the Being of Love is awaiting. The prophets announce it, the sages teach his coming, the brothers prepare the way, harmony traces it, and purity smooths it out.

And always the invisible choir sings:

He is born, the Being of Love,

A Christ to us is given.

He said, the Being of Love, The things I have done, you will do too, and still greater ones.

He said, the Being of Love, The kingdom of Heaven is in you.

He said, the Being of Love, Within you, I am.

O brother, are you ready? Has harmony set up its serene peace in you? Has purity smoothed out the way to divine love?

For tonight, O brother, facing the Being of Love in the sanctum of your heart, you live Christmas.

Sweet and melodious, the song of the invisible choir fills the temple with harmony.

Come, brother, it is time. Noble and pure in your white robe, you stand in the blazing light of the sanctum. Harmonious is your attitude and sweet your gaze.

O brother, see, listen, and live!

The song becomes sweeter, deeper. The light still more intense.

O brother, see, listen, and live!

The silence has established its deep peace. Time has disappeared, and Space has faded away.

And in the light, clad in light, the Being of Light appears.

O, brother, see, listen, and live!

Child of the Light, light of my light, be thou blessed!

Child of the Light, light of my light, be thou blessed!

Child of the Light, light of my light, be thou blessed!

Child of the Light, light of my light, in this sanctum of love, consciously with me you are.

Child of the Light, light of my light, in this sanctum of love, with you, I am.

Child of the Light, light of my light, in this sanctum of love, together, united, we are.

Child of the Light, do you not recognize me?

Child of the Light, I am your light, your blazing light.

I am the feeling in your heart, I am the élan of love guiding your step, I am the aspiration of your soul.

    Child of the Light,

    I am that.

Child of the Light, when you say I am, I am in you, the feeling of being. I am the I Am.

Child of the Light, when you say I love, I am in you, love. I am you loving, and I am the loved object.

Child of the Light, when you say I give, I am in you, the generous élan. I am the gift, and I am the one who receives.

Child of the Light, I am in you—the cause, the link, and the effect.

Child of the Light, when you love the Lord your God, I am the Lord your God. I am love; I am you, you who loves.

Child of the Light, when you love your brother, I am your brother. I am your feeling that loves; I am you, you who loves.

    I am the Prophet,

    I am the Sage,

    I am the Brother,

I am the Being of Love,

    I am the Avatar,

    I am the Christ.

New Year: Celebration of the Passing

New Year, celebration of the light,

New Year, celebration of the joy.

New Year, celebration of the renewing,

New Year, celebration of the new life,

New Year, celebration of the passing,

    New Year.

The Being of Love said, Verily, I make all things new.

Child of the Light, O brother, in the sanctum of your heart, you lived Christmas.

Child of the Light, O brother, in the sanctum of your heart, the child of light is born.

Child of the Light, O brother, in the sanctum of your heart, the Being of Love is growing.

In the peace of the present hour, Child of the Light, O brother, joy illumines your soul. For in front of you, all things are new. Your awakened heart is opening to the New Year, the celebration of passing. Behind you, you left your consciousness of having; in you, the consciousness of Being is born.

As the spring sap manifests new life, as the bud expresses the nascent flower, likewise the Child of the Light in you blossoms, becomes yourself—you, the Being of Light.

In your new consciousness, all things are made new. In serene joy and deep peace, you accept the passing and realize it. Before, you used to say, I am become that. Now you affirm:

    I am that.

Vibrant and clear as in the day of Christmas, the song rises in you and around you:

    You are the one consciousness,

    You are the Christly consciousness,

    You are the light,

    You are love,

    You are harmony and purity,

    You are plenitude and peace,

You are the Christ, the Being of the Love,

You are forever the radiating Being.

    Radiant and aware, you answer:

    I am that.

In the radiant fraternity, be welcome, Child of the Light, O you who is!

And in all of you, your heart echoes:

I am the light, the life ever new,

I am the plenitude and the love,

I am the peace, the eternal life,

I am the form modifying around,

I am the creator, the creation so marvelous,

I am the creature, the opus of one day,

I am the being, the fraternal oneness,

    I am that, now, forever.

O brother, you who could not vibrate so high, you who, despite the élan of your heart, was not ready, for you whom the vision just remained vision without being conscious of the fact: but for you, O brother, the New Year brings its joy, its light.

Do you feel that New Year is the natural prolongation of Christmas? Do you feel as the joy and hope are following the élan of love? The renewing is desired; the renewing is here.

Following the all interior joy of Christmas appears the vibrant and creating joy of New Year.

New Year is the eternal celebration of the eternal renewal. Once in a year, we celebrate it, but each instant, we live it. Live the New Year, brother, and you will live a full life, full of joy and of creation.

New Year is the white page, pure in front of you, the page where you will inscribe your new creation. Your old page, whereon you wrote so many passages, be they beautiful or less inspiring, now you turned it off. And you cannot go back to it, save in your remembrance, for in front of you, there is always a white page, which waits to be filled; for your creation ever new awaits you, the creator.

So would you not return to a past action? would you not tarry on a made error or a realized gift? You do not try to ameliorate a gift or correct an error. For perfection is not the correction of an evil nor the product of a good. Perfection is what remains, derives from it. Good is its reflection, evil its absence, and values are relative and illusory. The only value is perfection.

You endeavor in your creation to manifest perfection. You are not trying to obtain a common mean between good and evil, for good and evil are fictitious concepts. For you, only perfection is real, a simple reality that you want to express.

Do not look backward; you would get crystallized. Do not look around; you would get dispersed. Look within and ahead. You have created, you create, and you still will create. Each time you create, your creation already belongs to the past; it is already a page turned off. You have possibly created an error; nonetheless you create. You manifest the perfection, perhaps relative but tangible already.

For the form changes, the appearance varies, but perfection remains.

Brother, do you understand now why, in New Year, the joy blossoms in everyone? It is the renewal, the hope, the new life. The worry of correcting mistake weighs heavily; the hope of a new creation ignites a great joy.

To live New Year is to let the past go; it is to abandon one’s charge.

To live New Year is to blossom in the present.

Now you know New Year and its white page. You know New Year and its joy to create. Would you live this celebration only once a year? Would you live the renewal only once a year?

Each age is but one year,

Each year is but one day,

Each day is but an instant,

    Each instant is New Year,

The renewal, the hope, the new life.

Learn to live a daily creation: in the morning, you create your day; the evening, you let go that accomplishment. In the morning, you initiate a grand élan of vibrant joy; the evening, you return happy.

And in the sanctum of your heart, to the divine, you offer your daily creation. Each morning, free from any charge, fully free, you carry the light of your temple in your daily creation.

If by inattention, during the day you create an error, remember that the day is only one instant and each instant is creation.

Why wait for the end of an age to forgo an error, whereas each year you create a new expression of the perfection?

Why wait for the end of a year to forgo an error, whereas each day you create a new expression of the perfection?

Why wait for the end of a day to forgo an error, whereas each instant you create a new expression of the perfection?

    Why wait?

    Each day in New Year,

    You live each day,

You celebrate it at the last day’s eve,

    Each age you accomplish it.

Brother, live New Year consciously at each age, year, day, instant.

Live New Year consciously in your daily creation, in the creation of an instant.

    Brother, live New Year consciously.

Celebrate in yourself the festivity of the passing—the passing of a state of consciousness to another more vast, the passing of a creation to another more beautiful, the passing of a form to a new form.

Celebrate in yourself the festivity of the joy that creates, festivity of the eternal life, of the eternal renewal.

In you rises the sap of hope,

    In you blossoms joy,

    In you sings your consciousness,

    In you the path opens.

In the peace of the temple,

    In the daily action,

    It is the Being chanting,

    Again and ever.

I am the light, life ever new,

I am the plenitude and love,

    I am peace, eternal truth,

I am the form changing around.

I am the creator, the creation so beautiful,

I am the creator, the labor of one day,

I am the being, the fraternal oneness,

    I am that, now, forever.

    Being and Having, Reality

    and Appearance

O brother, you have vibrated with the four great lessons given to your personality. A subtle current flows in you. A transformation is happening. The flow of life becomes more intense. The desire of acting rises in you. The inner maturation of the winter period is seeking out its way of expression through the awakening of spring. Words still are still heard in your ears:

"O brother, listen! In your heart rises the feeling, so sweet, so subtle, that the slightest breath of disharmony veils it. In your heart, it emits its beneficent music, its clarity so pure. In its presence, all is transformed, all is beautified. In its presence, a new ardor animates you, and all becomes clearer.

The feeling is as a warm protection, enveloping you with an infinitely sweet presence. Indeed, brother, it is the rise of the feeling. Remember also about guarding the threshold of the temple.

Be firm, be firm, brother. Ever will you be not a too-firm guardian of the threshold of your abode.

Have the confidence of perfect certitude. Go to the threshold of your abode, and act the part of your labor, which is pure and firm guard.

    Other words resonate:

    You become what you contemplate.

Where you pay your attention is to where you are drawn.

Indeed, brother, it is the mastering of attention and the control of the need.

Brother, when you direct your gaze and attention on something, it means that this thing responds to a need in you.

O brother, seeker of light, know that you master the attention by controlling your needs.

Then it is Christmas and its love lesson:

He said, the Being of Love, You shall love.

And of this love results all law and the prophets.

Christmas, birth of the Christly consciousness:

Child of the Light, I am the temple, the sanctum, I am the feeling, I am the guardian, I am the door.

Child of the Light, I am the light, I am the life, I am the plenitude in all things.

Child of the Light, I am the divine child that is born with the Messiah. I am the Christ being born in you.

Then it is New Year, the passing, the renewal:

As the sap of spring manifest the new life, as the bud expresses the nascent flower, so the child of light blossoms in you, becomes yourself—you, the child of light.

In your new awareness, all things are made new.

In serene joy and in deep peace, you accept the passing, and you realize it. Before, you thought I am becoming that, and now you affirm I am that.

Hence would not you come back on a past action? Hence would not you come back on a committed error or a realized gift?

You do not seek to make the good better nor correct the error. For the perfection is not the correction of evil nor a product of the good. The perfection is the rest derives from it. The good is its reflection; evil its absence, and values are relative and illusory. What remains is the perfection.

To live New Year is to abandon the past, to drop one’s charge.

To live New Year is to blossom in the present.

Brother, live New Year consciously in each age, each year, each day, and each instant.

Celebrate in you the celebration of the joy that creates.

Indeed, brother, here are the four fundamental lessons for your personality:

With the rising of the feeling, you find the blazing light that illumine your path. Through mastering the attention, you reestablish order in your temple. With the birth of the Christ consciousness, the sanctum of your temple has found its master. And in New Year, all things become new: the Christ consciousness, the consciousness of I Am grows; it becomes active in you.

Personality has found its master, and you understand the song vibrating in you.

In you rises the sap of hope.

    In you blossoms the joy.

    In you sings the consciousness.

    In you opens your path.

In you, the joy is broad, for in your sincere heart, you realize that these four lessons give what you need for your quest. Harmony enters your Life. You conquer your mastery step-by-step.

However, driven by uncertain feelings, you still seek. You have a premonition of a following. Some words are coming back:

Brother, have you meditate upon what you just learned?

Have you discovered the broad horizon opened by those few words?

If you had done it, you would have had the answer.

Brother, learn to find all in the simplicity of the facts.

Again and again, these words return; they present themselves as if they were meant to snap open the circle limiting your consciousness, as if they would take away the veil of complexity marring your vision.

O brother, keep a sincere heart, a clear thought, a pure vision. Be receptive, be awake! Learn to find everything in the simplicity of the facts.

Have you discovered the broad horizon opened by these few words?

Brother, now is the time to see better, the time to widen your consciousness. The veil of analysis still throws its haze upon your horizon. Learn to replace it by the clarity of true synthesis, your vision of oneness.

Each lesson is a key providing access to the divine, the infinite …

Each paragraph is a key providing access to the divine, the infinite …

Each word is a key providing access to the divine, the infinite …

    Learn to perceive it …

    Learn to sense it …

    Learn to experience it …

    Learn to realize it!

Each word is a limited or partial vehicle of an idea, of a vibration far broader. Learn to find reality behind each word. Learn it now!

A while ago, when a few words of the four lessons were singing in you, you were aware that these lessons were offered in a determined order with a definite progression.

It seems to you that this progression goes from the outside to the very heart of your being. It also seems to you that as you proceed, so you will reach your goal.

It seems to you … however, is it really so?

Brother, in reality, you know well that nothing is constructed from the outside to the inside, save if it is but an illusion!

However, you would say you sense that you have advanced, you understand better life, you master yourself better, you feel more harmony, and the movement toward light is increased.

Indeed, this is the result of an effective labor.

    So?

Then, brother, learn to find anything in the simplicity of the facts!

The apparent work of the exterior consciousness proceeds from out to in.
